Spacious studio with massive ceilings, hardwood floors and a private balcony. Well-appointed sleeping and living area, full bath and thoughtfully equipped kitchenette. Ideal location encourages city strolls among the shops, tasting rooms, museums, restaurants, and live music venues. While a private parking space offers freedom to explore the outskirts of the beautiful hill country with its fantastic wineries, wildflowers, Luckenbach and Enchanted Rock State Park.

The space
The Roadrunner occupies the entire second floor, with 3 private living spaces. Studio No. 1 is a spacious 600 square feet, with 12 foot ceilings, a plush King-sized bed, a pair of sumptuous leather club chairs, a dining/work table, kitchenette, and a full bathroom. Large windows let in lots of natural light, but roller shades will easily block it all out. A private balcony hangs off the back side of the building, offering some fresh air, a little bit of nature, and couple of cool Acapulco chairs for lounging. Wifi, Smart TV, Bluetooth radio and speaker, wireless charging pad, white noise machine, mini fridge, microwave, kitchen sink, and a stocked Keurig.

Guest access
The entrance is located in the center of the building on the Main Street side. A 4-digit code unlocks the main door and welcomes guests into the shared stairway, foyer. Each of the 3 private studios are equipped with their own privacy code.
There is a parking space reserved for each Studio located behind the building, under a steel pergola. Access to parking is off N. Lincoln, via a narrow alley, and a sharp right turn immediately following the first dumpster. There is pedestrian-only access to the Roadrunner's entrance through the corridor between Silver Creek Restaurant and Cross Mountain Winery, which connects the parking lot back to Main Street.

Other things to note
The Roadrunner is on the second floor of a commercial building in the central business district of downtown. It sits in the very heart of Fredericksburg, which boasts a level of activity some might not expect from a small Texas town. Main Street, also known as US Hwy 290, is a busy thoroughfare, with both street and sidewalk traffic as well as many music venues along the way. While we have done our best to insulate and minimize outside noise, it is important to realize the pros and cons of the location and be prepared for some noise beyond our control. The city of Fredericksburg has a strict noise ordinance in place, and violations are subject to fines. If you think the music next door is beyond a reasonable decibel, please contact the local Police Department.

The Roadrunner is in the heart of it all. Step outside and find yourself surrounded by more options than you have time to entertain. Wine tours have gained recent popularity, and the pick-up/drop off point is conveniently half a block away. A horse-drawn carriage gives tours and leisure rides and makes regular stops at our front entrance. You can even rent a 14-person pedal bike, equipped with a guide and tasting table for simultaneous wine-sampling and sight-seeing. First time visitors are amused to see fellow pedestrians openly (and legally) strolling with a stein of beer or a glass of wine in hand.

My family lives just a few blocks away, with our Wheaten Terrier, in a lovingly restored Mid-century rambler. We are fond of the beach, good manners, Sunday brunch, and wearing our leiderhosen and dirndles to the Oktoberfest. When I travel, I put as much emphasis on choosing the accommodations, as choosing the destination, and consider my temporary living space a fundamental part of the experience. I opened The Roadrunner in 2007, with hopes of creating a beautiful, original, and inspiring space for like-minded travelers to hang their vacation hats.
