About this listing
Public transportation easily connects our home to the neighboring Cambridge & Boston area. The Somerville community consists of excellent restaurants, cafes and pubs all within 10 minutes of our home. Our Airbnb is the entire top floor of our home: a guest room w/ half-bath, Jacuzzi/Bath/Shower and roof deck. Guests can reach Harvard by walking (20-25 min), borrow one of our numerous bikes (10 min) or catch the bus (10 min). The #86 bus stops in front of our home.
The Airbnb guest suite is located on the top floor of our home. New this Spring 2017, two new beautiful pieces of furniture are added to this space: a 1930's mahogany wardrobe and a Hepplewhite desk. The armoire includes 5 drawers, a sm. cabinet area with a shelf, closet space enclosed by door, which has a full length mirror. These pieces streamline the room while offering the storage. Amenities includes a microwave, small refrigerator, coffee pot and electric tea kettle as well as the morning set up for our homemade granola. As well as access to the laundry room and kitchen.
Airbnb guests share our side entrance, which is found at the end of our walkway. The front entrance is private. Upon entering our home, please remove shoes. Robert and I utilize the basement, 1st and 2nd floors. If you let us know in advance we can work out access to our kitchen for long term stays. Guests are free to use the laundry room on the second floor and/or join us for a low-key dinner. We leave it up to guests to decide how much interaction they would like to have with Robert and myself.
Interaction with guests
Monique responds to Airbnb requests online, greets guests and orients you to our neighborhood. Upon arrival you will find a handout with details about our home just to orient you to your new room and our home. Please let us know whether you need recommendations for places to eat or grocery shop. It's a great neighborhood for both options.
Other things to note
From Logan a taxi takes approx. (15 - 30 minutes) and costs $30 and public transportation (1 hour). If using public transportation, take the Silver Line from Logan to South Station and switch there for the Redline to Harvard Station. From Harvard Station, I highly recommend getting a taxi/Uber or Lyft. As you exit the Harvard Station, you'll see cabs waiting on the back side of the Out of Town News Stand. You want those vs. the cabs sitting in front of the Harvard Coop 'cause they're headed in the right direction. I do NOT recommend walking to our home from Harvard with luggage, since there are brick sidewalks and it's 1 mile to our home. Otherwise it's a very pleasant walk.
Upon arrival please remove shoes, which can be left near our side entrance. We do not allow pets or smoking on the property. We ask that the use of our Jacuzzi/Bath/Shower be limited to 10:00p however, early morning use is fine.

We are both native to Massachusetts in particular the Boston area. Robert is a designer, builder and artist. I volunteer with two wonderful groups in the Boston area and enjoy tap dance. Our home is fun in that it is a unique structure, which many folks enjoy. The Airbnb space is on the very top floor of our home, which includes a bedroom, 1/2 bath, Jacuzzi, roof deck plus amenities. We love to travel, cook, the arts and socializing. At the end of the day, we enjoy a chance to catch up with each other, either read a book or watch a film. We enjoy a lifestyle of balance.
