We had a great stay with Monique and Robert. The place was as advertised - an excellent location for exploring Boston and particularly the Harvard/Cambridge area. Our hosts were so friendly, both before and during our stay, offering tips and recommendations for making the most of our visit. The room was clean, well appointed and spacious and we were grateful for the aircon! Lovely touches such as tea and breakfast provisions were greatly appreciated and Monique checked in with us first to ensure they met our needs. We would highly recommend staying here to see the best of what Boston had to offer - in both hospitality and sights.
Had a fantastic 7 week stay at Monique and Robert's loft this Summer. It was everything I could possibly wish for: friendly hosts, short walk (15-20 min) to Harvard campus and subway, quiet neighbourhood with a great supermarket a short stroll away, excellent food options (Western and Asian) in the area, private deck and own space (whole top floor). Monique and Robert are excellent hosts. They were accommodating, hospitable and understanding during my time in their home. I look forward to being back next Summer!
The top floor of this house is private, comfortable and beautiful. The bed is queen and we had a great sleep. The outside rooftop terrace was a great place to have our coffee and granola. The check in was convenient and easy. I would ask them to provide a small bottle of dish soap for those staying more than one night to wash the coffee cups and bowls. Also we would have preferred to sleep with windows open rather than AC but there was only one screen in the windows. We would definitely stay again!
Monique and Robert were lovely hosts. They tried to make my stay as pleasant as possible. The upstairs room with own toilet and jacuzzi was great. Delicious Granola was available for breakfast. Thanks a lot for that week!
I stayed at Craftsman's loft for two weeks. What I appreciated was how lovely and well appointed the space was - with good coffee, granola and salts for the jacuzzi. Monique made an effort to show me around the first day and even put a jar of lilacs from the garden in my room. The neighbourhood is pleasant and the loft is within easy walking distance to Wholefoods and Union Square. I had a very pleasant stay in this unique space. Thank you.
Monique and Robert have designed and built a very special bungalow on the 3rd floor of their Somerville house. Robert is a very talented craftsman which is reflected in this sweet space in a quiet neighborhood. Together they have thought of every detail to make the stay comfortable. They are also very amicable people who greeted us nicely and offered much advice on where to get dinners, breakfasts, on parking and more. We would highly recommend staying in their wonderful space. It is small, but very comfortable.
My husband and I felt very welcomed by our hosts, Monique and Robert, even before we arrived. I mentioned that we were looking for low key activities for our 4 night stay, while there for the Boston Marathon. Monique sent a list of neighborhood and other Boston activities we might enjoy and they were quite right on. There was much available within walking distance and the bus stop was at the corner, where we could take a bus to Harvard Square and the T to downtown from there.
While there, Monique offered many suggestions of places to eat and directions for getting around. She checked on the MBTA schedule for Patriot's Day and even followed my marathon progress. When I returned from the race, I enjoyed the jacuzzi with the epsom salts provided. Monique was glad to provide any assistance she could and even thanked me for asking for a gallon zip loc bag for my pre-race snacks, saying she loved to be able to provide for these simple requests.
The house was much as described, with Robert's handiwork evident throughout. He used many materials recycled from old commercial buildings, including the stone flooring in the entrance, the soapstone counters and glass blocks in their kitchen and the copper sink in our half bath. There was also much use of wood, both for flooring and the loft walls. Radiant floor heat kept the house comfortably warm.
Staying with our gracious hosts, Monique and Robert, was a wonderful way to enjoy our time in Boston.
About the Host, Monique And Robert
We are native Bostonians. Robert is a designer, builder and artist. I'm excited to be engaging Expressive Therapy options for a Masters Program. In the last fifteen years, Robert and I have put an addition onto the smallest existing home on record in Somerville, Ma. The interior is nearly complete except for our basement, which you'll see upon entry. Also, our exterior is incomplete. This gives you a sense of the full experience of our home. Our home is fun in that it is a unique structure that many folks enjoy. The Airbnb space is on the top floor of our home, which includes a bedroom, 1/2 bath, jacuzzi, deck and all the amenities one needs for either a short or longer term stay. We love travel, cooking, the arts, conversation, a balanced lifestyle and meeting the many wonderful folks we've met through Airbnb. After a long day, we enjoy our peaceful, quiet home.
