❄️ Winter Travel
Mountain weather changes frequently and we want our guests to come prepared, it is the law to carry chains in the winter months. If we receive 4 inches or more of snow we clear the driveway and the entrance to the front door upon your arrival (the weather can make this timing difficult, we do our best and we definitely communicate with you). After that, we provide shovels and snow removal contacts if you need it for the duration of your stay. Heads up, snow can be loads of fun yes, but…it can be work.

Other things to note
♬ Bring your bikes, you have full access to the garage.
♬ Washer/Dryer for longer stays only, please ask.
♬ We strive to keep Sugar Cub Lodge an immaculate cabin and are always updating our amenities. If you have a bigger crowd we have the cabin right next door, Sugar Bear Lodge, 3Bedroom/2Bath. Bring the entire gang and still get a good night sleep!
♬ Bugs
There are bugs in the mountains. Spring brings moths, we don't get many because our doors don't open often yet they will enter via the chimney. Spiders, not many, I rarely see them, couple times a year. Ants, late summer when it is really hot, they are easy to wipe up with a paper towel because there are so few and they are tiny. A flying insect that looks like a bee, but is not, called a Hover Fly. We see those late summer, a few come in the cabin looking for a cool spot, but they are barely alive, you might find them belly up on the floor, not many! I'm letting you know you might see one or two, we clean, this has nothing to do with not vacuuming/cleaning, they get in occasionally.

Neighborhood highlights

Look how close you are to the forest, located at one of the highest elevations in Big Bear and on a street that dead-ends at the National Forest. That means hiking right out the front door an awesome sled hill steps from the cabin adjacent to the forest. Even during the peak of the vacation season, our street is quiet. Just far enough out for true privacy yet easy access to Big Bear central. The quiet allows you to hear the sounds of the mountains; the birds, the strong mountain wind moving the pines, all sweet sounds coming from the city. The oak trees frame the house giving you a feeling of seclusion. You will rarely see a car on the road, a true mountain escape. Take a walk to our newly renovated park, with basketball, baseball field, kid's park, exercise course and an incredible skate board park! Or walk to our neighborhood pub, Kallan's, for a burger and a beer. A great getaway for families, groups of friends and anyone wanting to relax and recharge. Remember we have two cabins side by side...perfect if you'd like to include everyone but still get a good night's sleep!
