●Yoshino Cedar House is a collaboration between Tokyo-based architect Go Hasegawa, Airbnb and the community of Yoshino. The house is built from sustainable cedar forests located in mountains nearby, and was built by local master carpenters and craftsmen.

We offer two rooms upstairs– Sunrise for 2 people (max.3) and Sunset for 2 people (max.4). The space downstairs is where you can meet local people, to get information or to enjoy local cuisine together, just like how we relax in Yoshino.

The space
●Yoshino Cedar House is located on the bank of the Yoshino River, in a beautiful valley and flowing river. It used to be the site of an old timber-inspection office - logs would be floated downstream, stop in front of the building to be checked, before making their way to Osaka.
In the area, there are about 40 wood mills and other wood related factories that are home to renowned high-quality timber.

●Yoshino cedar is used for the floor, wall and ceiling downstairs, and Yoshino cypress is used upstairs. Enjoy the different scent and texture. The space downstairs is also open for the local community and the space is anchored by a large, 15 foot long cedar table. Relax with a drink, a book or computer, watching the Yoshino river stream by.

Guest access
●Guests can use the whole building, with the exception of the staff room.

Other things to note
●You can be made up to 3 months in advance.

●Our house is closed on Tuesday and Monday. So you can stay here from Wednesday to Saturday.
Our house is closed on Bon festival and New Year's holiday.

●There is a futon (Japanese traditional bedding).

●You can enjoy breakfast with river view at around 7:30-8:00. One of the hosts, a local mother cook it. Toasts, eggs, salads, yogurt and coffee. It is 500 yen per person. Please prepare in Japanese yen. If you wish, please make a reservation!

●Smoking is prohibited in the building. There is a wonderfully old zelkova tree in the yard, from which leaves fall in autumn and winter. Please do not smoke around the building to avoid any fire. If you need to smoke, do so by the river, and pick up your litter please).

Lives in Yoshino, Japan
There are people who live and work in Yoshino. The members work in the mountains, the people who make the trees, and the people who make the house. People who know Yoshino's history and sightseeing, fishing lovers, culinary people, etc. They are various "locals". The people you meet at this place should open the door to the "deep enjoying Yoshino" trip. I think it's especially interesting to talk about people who handle trees famous for Yoshino wood. Mountains, log markets, and sawmills where Yoshino grows, if requested, We will also provide guidance on the chopstick factory, etc.
