Description

The Space

Finca Tierra Organic Farm is surrounded by lush jungle at the foot of the majestic Talamanca Mountains.

All of our accommodations have breathtaking views of a natural wildlife corridor that is home to a variety of plants, trees and animals like agoutis, sloths, monkeys, armadillos, anteaters, wild cats, toucans, parrots and giant Morpho Azúl butterflies. Every morning you will wake to a beautiful concert of all kinds of colorful birds and every night you will fall asleep to the sound of the ocean!

Cabina Tucán is elegantly decorated and privately perched on a ridge close to all common areas.

The Bamboo Kitchen and Bar is the heart of Finca Tierra. Cook delicious meals in the fully equipped chef's kitchen. The Bar is a great place to hang out, enjoy drinks and socialize.

The Lounge has large, comfortable couches to enjoy amazing views of the Farm and jungle.

The bathrooms are near the Cabinas and include modern fixtures with showers.

There are pathways for hikes and hang out areas all throughout the Farm.

Guest Access

Guests have access to the entire farm and common areas.

Interaction with Guests

Finca Tierra is our home and a working farm, so we'll probably see you around. If we aren't at the farm, there will always be a local property manager on call if you need anything. In general, we leave our guests up to their own devices, and we are always happy to offer suggestions of things to do and places to go.

The Neighborhood

Our neighborhood is located just south of Puerto Viejo de Talamanca in the hills above some of the most beautiful Caribbean beaches. We are so lucky to have other organic farmers in our neighborhood with which we share knowledge, seeds and fun times!

Surrounded by lush jungle, where we enjoy the fresh ocean breeze, you will see a variety of plants, trees and animals like agoutis, sloths, monkeys, armadillos, anteaters, wild cats, toucans and parrots. Every morning you will wake to a beautiful concert of all kinds of colorful birds and every night you will fall asleep to the sound of the ocean!

We are conveniently near coffee shops & restaurants, supermarkets, a soccer field, a beach club, the animal rescue center, a few hotels and a bus stop in front of the beach on the bottom of our road. Our road is located between two beaches, playa Cócles to the North is a popular surfing and socializing beach, and to the South is Playa Chiquita and Punta Uva, beaches with coral tide pools that are great spots to swim in calm waters and snorkel.

Getting Around

We are just a 10 minute drive off the main beach road into the jungle. It is best to rent a 4X4 or 2X4 to drive all the way up to the Farm. It's only a 25-35 minute walk and even less with a bicycle. There are also taxis that can take you anywhere you need to go. The road to the farm is one of the best places to see all types of plants, animals and even some abandoned cacao farms.

Other Things to Note

Our farm practices are guided by Permaculture principles, which is an ecological design science, based on working with, rather than against nature.

Finca Tierra combines elements of educational farm and destination lodge, creating what we hope is one of the most original and innovative vacation available for travelers today!
