We can sincerely say without a doubt that Peter and Jo-Jo's B&B is by far the best place we have stayed! Castle Reek house is just charming. The rooms are very big with great bathroom facilities in each room. The beds are very comfortable with plenty of room. If you want to be pamper this is the place to be. We were welcome with tea and sweets , which was exactly what we needed after driving from the south of the Island. Peter and Jo embraced you as part of their family and made your time with them very special. Breakfast in the morning is superb. Conversations with Peter and Jo were fun, a wonderful experience. Peter and Jo are full of knowledge of their county and invited us to tour some beautiful places close in the area. My daughter Paola is going to study at the University College of Dublin and Peter and Jo welcomed Paola to visit them when she is in Dublin! They made us feel as if we were their extended family! Imagine, they even offered to wash our dirty clothing, which we needed, and had it ready for us when we came back from our outings. It was marvelous!!!! I can not say enough about this place. It is a jewel!!!
It was a pleasure to host you and your family, it was lovely to see the interest that your children and even yourselves have in Irish culture and music, the are so talented I we hope to see you all again in the near future, don't forget to tell Paola to visit us, and if she needs help you have mine and Jojo number.
Peter & Jojo
We had an absolutely wonderful stay with Peter and Jojo outside Westport, myself plus the eight of my friends with me all agree. They really bent over backwards, and were very giving hosts to meet our every need. Firstly the breakfast, where they gave very generous portions (to the point where we didn't feel hungry until dinner. And we climbed Crogh Patrick!) and Peter's sausage was a group favorite.
Secondly, they were really just fantastic and there was honestly no task they didn't offer and indeed help us with - Peter drove us into Westport one evening to save us getting a taxi; Jojo made us (strong!) Irish Coffees one evening (followed promptly by 'holy water', drink at your own peril!); and even down at the harbor water-sports which were offered (but politely declined).
We really had a great stay, and I couldn't recommend Peter and Jojo more.
arry and his rabble of mixed friends as he calls them stayed with me for 2 nights, I found them to friendly and polite guests that love to emerge themselves in the area they are staying in, The group consisted of mixed nationalities that work together to better the world and the environment and it was interesting her snippets of place they have visited and of the work they do, it was also lovely to meet a group of young professionals that that wanted to know about the area and the local customs, overall I found Barry a gentleman and the rest of his travelers to be Ladies & Gentlemen, I would have no hesitation in recommending they to other Airbnb host's and that at some stage in the future they may return to stay with me here once again. Thanks Peter & Jojo
Peter and his wife greeted me warmly. I was offered tea and food though it was 7.30 in the evening. They are very friendly hosts and I highly recommend them.
This is what a B&B should be about. Upon arrival I was welcomed into to Peter and Jojo's home and made to feel part of the family. It's a busy place with lots of family and friends. Jojo even came walking with me. Despite very accurate directions I needed some help getting there. Peter came to rescue me and show me the way. The room was huge with everything you could possibly need. Really clean and comfortable. Breakfast was huge and I couldn't eat for the rest of the day. To top it all off Peter did a private tour of the area. He knows so many interesting facts that you would never be able to find out from another source. Thank you for having me in your home it was a wonderful experience that I'd love to repeat for much longer.
We had the most amazing airbnb experience with Peter and his family. This location is actually PERFECT if you are planning on taking a trip up to the Anchill Island, making stops in Galway, Newport, Westport to have dinner/lunch/breaks. You can easily drive to Westport from here and at the same time, enjoy peaceful country life. Peter agreed to let us stay at his home about 2 hours before we arrived and the place was warm, new, very clean, very welcoming, and comfortable. After hiking for a day in the cold, we appreciated the amazing hot showers, snacks, and refreshments very much. We greatly enjoyed spending time with our host family and even watched a movie together on our first night there! Our hostess provided cold cuts and all sorts of fancy snacks for us while we watched the movie - her hospitality impressed us greatly! On the morning of the second day, we were greeted with a full flatter Irish breakfast with toast, 3-4 types of sausages, bacon, egg, etc.etc.. None of us could finish all the good food and did not need to eat dinner until 10PM that day after a full day of sightseeing and hiking! Peter basically planned our entire itinerary for day 2 at Anchill Island with annotated print outs from Google Maps. We lucked out on having his help and had the best day of our trip following his plans! Our hostess even woke up early to help us hot press our laundry so that we wouldn't need to travel in dirty hiking clothes! We loved staying with them at their place so much we ended up extending our stay for a night. On the third day, Peter showed us the calves in the shed and explained the entire supply chain to us. For a bunch of city kids, the visit to the shed was very educational and eye-opening. This was by far my most rewarding airbnb experience in every single way! My friends gave me a pat on the back for finding us such a lovely place to stay and we would certainly go back to Peter's place when we head up to the area again. We felt utterly spoilt by his family's hospitality and would like to thank his family VERY MUCH for the most incredible Irish experience!
My wife, daughter and I spent three great nights with Peter and his wife. They were ideal hosts giving us our space but also engaging and socializing with us. Peter has a wealth of knowledge about the area and even took us around for a couple of hours to show us some of the sights in the area. Peter and Jojo could not do enough for us. The even watched our daughter and chauffeured us to and from dinner in downtown.
The home is very clean and as described about 5-7 minutes drive from Westport city center.
I decided to stay a few days more with Peter and Jojo. Their accommodations went beyond my expectations. I was a solo traveler so my room was very spacious, peaceful, comfortable and clean, my privacy well respected and the bathroom was gorgeous. Taking a shower after hiking Croagh Patrick felt like heaven. The full Irish breakfasts were so deliciously hearty even a heavily active person like myself appreciated it. My favorite part was looking forward to the real blood pudding! :) Peter and Jojo were open, kind-hearted and generous in their welcome as I stayed in their home-- very communicative in suggestions and answers before arriving and during my stay. Really down to earth, good people. Peter would take his time to show me the rich history and the beauty behind County Mayo. My stay in Castle Reek would forever remind me how much I will miss Ireland in a personable, intimate, and familial way. They took care of me as I was part of the Irish family. Again, many thanks to these lovely people. Hands down that I would come back to stay with them!
