The space
Cactus Moon sits at about 3,500 feet above sea level on 2.5 acres of desert oak, piñon and juniper studded desert on the north flank of the Little San Bernardino Mountains. Just up the road from the property is the boundary of Joshua Tree National Park and to the west is the Big Morongo Canyon Preserve.

The property offers a stunning, unobstructed vista directly toward the tallest mountain in Southern California – San Gorgonio Mountain. Visible to the north are desert mountains that define the southern periphery of the Sawtooth Wilderness, with Pioneertown just beyond. The property may be in the Town of Yucca Valley but it is cradled on three sides by some of the most marvelous and wild high desert terrain in California.

Cactus Moon is spacious and can comfortably accommodate 14 guests in the same party (we never rent to people in different parties at the same time).

All bathrooms are stocked with Murchison Hume hand soap and hand lotion and Ginger Lily body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and hair dryers. Bath towels are provided for each guest. Hand towels are provided in all bathrooms.

The kitchen has all the usual flatware, cookware, dishes and prep tools. There is a refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, stove (electric), coffee maker, and a microwave oven.

Our indoor dining room table can accommodate your entire group. There is also another round dining table in the sun room. We also have two tables outside for dining al fresco.

Our home is pet friendly! Pets are permitted with an additional pet fee of $150 which covers 1-2 pets. An additional pet incurs a $50 fee and must be discussed beforehand. We cap out at 3 pets. We do provide a pet basket with sheets, towels, lint rollers and pick-up bags to use during your stay.

I am very pleased to be able to share this unique property with you. I am a psychologist who was born and raised in New York City. But for over 25 years I’ve been living and working on the west side of Los Angeles. I have long dreamed of finding a high desert retreat that would help nourish and restore me, my family, friends, and community when we could break away from our hectic daily lives. I was overjoyed when I found this one-of-a-kind property in December 2015 and I found it enormously rejuvenating to breathe new life into it – stripping away clutter and opening the house and other structures so they embraced the remarkable high desert landscape that defines this extraordinary property.
