We are musicians, performers and world travelers and are blessed to have combined these passions in a beautiful, cozy, rooftop apt in a Brooklyn brownstone (4 floor walk up, keeps you in shape!!). WE LOVE our place and so does everyone that walks in the door. We are sure you will love it too!
We are located in Fort Greene/Clinton Hill, a beautiful neighborhood of brownstones, tree lined streets, delicious restaurants, and a relaxed, nice vibe. Its' perfect for wanting to visit the city but still being able to get away from it when you come home. Fort Greene park, Brooklyn Museum and Prospect Park are all very close. We are a 15 min walk to almost every train to Manhattan and a 15 min cab ride from lower Manhattan. And again, did I mention delicious restaurants right within blocks!
Being from California, light and outdoor space is essential, this place has both! Sky lights, big windows and colorful walls which give the apt a warm yet light glow. And then there's the rooftop, which sold us on the place...Check out the pics for our impeccable views of the Manhattan skyline, perfect for an intimate dinner or bbq. Also on the roof is our garden, we do ask you care for it while you're here but pls also eat from it!
The apt sleeps 2-4 comfortably (bedroom plus futon in the living room). Citibikes ((website hidden)) has a bike station just across the street! Bikes are a fantastic way for getting around Brooklyn. And lastly, we have two black cats who come with the stay! Don't worry, they are very low maintenance, but one does like to sleep in the bedroom so you'll have company there!
We know you will enjoy your stay in our humble, yet beautiful abode.

Not only do Renee and Matt have a lovely home in a fantastic location, but they themselves are wonderful hosts. Their apartment is clean, spacious, comfortable, and gorgeous. And they're right about the rooftop views - stunning. I highly recommend them as hosts.
Great place to stay in Brooklyn, close to all sorts of cool bars and restaurants, and about half an hour from central Manhattan (10 min walk to the station and 25-30 min ride). Apt itself is pretty awesome too, plenty of room, nice kitchen, and a great view from the roof. There's two cats but they pretty much look after themselves. We found one of them to be a bit more personable than the other but didn't have any major issues, even though we stayed for almost two weeks. We were a group of 4 (two couples) and were very comfortable. Renée and Matt were great hosts and made our stay very easy. We didn't meet in person but their communication was excellent and their knowledge and advice on the area was great.
In summary: great apt, highly recommended!
While we never met them in the flesh, Reneé and Matt were very chill, generous hosts who gave as an amazing deal on a beautiful apartment in one of Brooklyn's best neighborhoods. Like most city cats, theirs are very low maintenance and we got along just fine. I would absolutely stay here again.
Renee and Matt are wonderful hosts! Although we didn't get to meet them, they communicated very clearly and promptly and we had absolutely no problems during our stay.
The apartment itself is great. It's clean, comfortable (it was three of us) and very tastefully decorated! And I will second Renee in saying that the views of Manhattan from the roof are amazing!
There are two black cats that share the space. Personally, I liked having them around (cats are intriguing) but anyhow, you will hardly even notice them, they are ultra-low maintenance.
Walk to the subway was about 15 minutes but there are plenty of stores, cafes and restaurants within stone's throw.
I would highly recommend Renee and Matt.
Having rode the Jitney in and then taken the subway to Brooklyn, Renee's apartment was the perfect place to call home for the evening. We surprised her on our way up, but she was extremely sweet and very helpful! The cats are beautiful and (mostly) friendly, and we enjoyed having snuggle time. The apartment itself is beautifully decorated and the views are amazing! Overall, Renee was a wonderful host, accommodating us last minute and providing us with everything we needed. I would love to stay with her again!
This is an amazing place with an amazing view. I highly recommend it!
We had a lovely time at Renee and Matt's place in Brooklyn. We loved the view from the rooftop and the neighborhood was very quiet. The four floor walk really wasn't difficult with a chance to catch your breath on every level. We enjoyed the cats and it was close to transportation, good restaurants, and things we wanted to do.
A good choice for a cozy and romantic evening in a classically quirky walk-up in a quieter part of Brooklyn, especially with the roof top and Renée's funky decorations. Renée and Matt were attentive hosts and had good follow-through when we had any problems. The cats were perfectly cat-like as we had hoped.
The Good: Reneé was a very kind and welcoming host. The apartment was clean and the location was fantastic - very close to a lot of great restaurants, parks, and the Brooklyn flea. Reneé was also very responsive and provided good recommendations for things to do while we were in town. Lastly, the view is AH-MAZING!!! My friends, husband and I spent some time up on the roof, entranced by the lovely view of the Manhattan skyline and the Brooklyn Bridge... a must do!
The Bad: The apartment is also home to two kitties, one of which scratched 3/4 of us and left us a little present (dead bird - no biggie). My friends who slept in the living room also mentioned that the kitties were pretty loud too, meowing a lot or going in and out. They did not sleep well. Also, while we were sure the sheets were clean, they smelled a little musty, which my friends mostly took issue with. A girlfriend of mine who slept on the futon mentioned she smelled cat pee smell by the wall, but I didn't experience that myself. Lastly - watch out for the rugs on the hardwood. There is no backing to them, so they slide easily on the hardwood and I almost fell twice!
The Bottom Line: Reneé's place has a great location with a comfortable bed to sleep in. I recommend this as a place to stay for two people (not four), with the kitties being loud in the living room. Bring an extra shirt or something to sleep on top of if you want to sleep with a familiar scent. Also, the apartment is a 4th floor walk-up, not uncommon in Brooklyn, and we knew going in/wasn't a problem or anything for us, but wanted to say it for those who may not be familiar with older buildings.
Thanks very much to Reneé for hosting us! We appreciate the opportunity to stay in your apartment.
First off, Amy and her friends were great guests and as we felt bad about the situation with the cats, we refunded the cleaning fee to them for their troubles.
Regarding the cats, they were apparently in quite a mood that weekend! As you'll see from the other reviews, we've hardly had complaints about them. We did warn Amanda and her friends that one of the kitties can be temperamental but she's not usually this bad. This is the first we've heard of them being so noisy as to keep people up. And, the litter box is in the living room, so the "cat pee smell by the wall" could have been that. We are sensitive to cat odors and regularly maintain the litter box, in fact, we make sure it has been fully changed before AirBnB guests arrive.
The sheets were indeed clean and had just been washed about a week prior. We store them in an antique wooden trunk which does have it's own unique "older" smell. But we'll address this concern moving forward by adding cedar balls to the chest to freshen things up.
We've never had an issue with our rugs slipping out from under us.....only one of them has no weaving on the bottom, so that must have been the culprit and we'll look into a solution for that.
Thanks Amanda for bringing some of these issues to our attention!
Renee and Matt's space was beautiful and clean! The roof was perfect and relaxing -- we shared a bottle of wine and a sunset on our first night. The cats were easy to take care of and generally very sweet. The neighborhood was charming -- we had several delicious meals there! We loved our stay and hope to visit again!
