About this listing
This small and charming row house is located less than 2 miles from all of Lexington's local breweries and downtown. I've compiled a booklet of information on all the breweries for you and provide refillable growlers for use during your stay!
This small and charming row house is located less than 2 miles from all of Lexington's local breweries and distilleries. I've compiled a booklet of information on all the breweries for you and provide refillable growlers for use during your stay!
The home is small but charming at only 728 square feet. Referred to as a “shot-gun” house due to its long and narrow build, this simple architectural structure was brought to America by Haitian refugees in the early 19th century.
Although technically, it is a one bedroom house, there is a full-size solid wood futon with a Sealy posture-pedic mattress that sleeps very comfortably located in the back room. The bedroom has a king-size bed. This house can sleep between 2 to 4 people comfortably by way of the bed and futon. All bed linens, including comforters, are encased and laundered and sanitized after each guest visit.
Children are welcome, but please note that the only childproofing in the home is outlet covers. There are no cabinet locks.
The kitchen has all the modern amenities needed to cook and clean up, such as a refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, and a Keurig coffee maker. There are place settings and flatware for up to six, all the necessary pots, pans, and utensils needed for cooking, along with simple spices and oils as well. I provide plenty of Keurig coffee cups for guests to enjoy!
The home also offers free, secure wireless internet and a Roku streaming box complete with a subscription to Netflix and HuluPlus, in addition to hundreds of free Roku channels. There is no cable.
This is a Pet Free house designed specifically for guest use so there are NO personal belongings at this home meaning you can feel free to stretch out and make it your own.
The bathroom has a spacious standing shower, but no tub. It is fully stocked with fresh linens, soaps, shampoo, toothpaste, Q-tips, cotton balls, toilet paper, and a basic hair dryer.
It has everything you need to enjoy your stay in Lexington. It is less than 2 miles from most downtown attractions and new local breweries so going out and touring the city is easy, but the large double lot backyard allows for relaxing evenings at home.
Guests will have access to the entire house and yard. There is off street parking in the driveway alongside the house, but no parking garage.
Interaction with Guests
My interaction with guests will be little to none, unless requested. However, I live nearby and am always accessible by phone, if needed. There is a key-less entry system and a code to access the home will be given upon confirmation of reservation so guests may check in any time after 3 pm on the day of arrival.
Row house neighborhoods are not generally high income areas. Although I am comfortable in the neighborhood, it is blue collar, a bit rough around the edges, and can be intimidating to those more accustomed to the finer things in life. So, if you're counting on white picked fences and polo shirts, look elsewhere. However, things are changing with the addition of the new Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) replacing the old, historic Eastern State Mental Hospital (2nd oldest insane asylum in the USA). As well, there are at least three of Lexington's new artisan breweries within a mile of the house; Blue Stallion, West Sixth, and Town Branch Distillery. This home is a great value considering its amenities and proximity to downtown, campus, Keeneland, the Horse Park, and the new Distillery district.
LexTran is the public transit system of Lexington. There is a covered bus stop two blocks down the street from the house. A bus leaves every 30 minutes from this location to the transit center located downtown. Visit LexTran for details.
Per MapQuest, the home is located the following distances from certain Lexington area attractions:
University of Kentucky Student Center 1.8 miles
Bluegrass Lexington Airport 7 miles
Rupp Arena / Heritage Hall 1.4 miles
Kentucky Horsepark 10.6 miles
Keeneland 7 miles
Center of Downtown Nightlife 1.8 miles
I-64 / I-75 Split 11 miles
If necessary, I can provide access to two adult bicycles ( a man and a women's) and helmets with air pump, and lock. Biking makes visiting the city fast and fun. If you need access to the bikes, a request must be made upon making your reservation.
Other Things to Note
Per local LFUCG zoning regulations, prohibit more than one rental in a seven day period at this property.
*No unregistered guests
*No eating or drinking in the beds!
*No late check-outs unless previously discussed and agreed upon
Booking with Jill was very simple and quick. The lock box and entry code system allowed us to seamlessly enter the house without needing to meet anyone or deal with somebody for the keys which was great since our road trip to get there was 10 hrs. Upon entering we were pleasantly surprised at how bright and clean the house was. Looked just like the photos, high ceilings and smelled great! The mattress was super comfortable, and clean. The shower had great water pressure and was plenty tall for my 6' 5" frame. Everything in this house was spotless. The natural light was wonderful for late august. Kitchen was stocked with enough gear to make a nice dinner or sexy breakfast. The house manual was written very well and we enjoyed the signs throughout the house. The location was very close to the downtown area. This was our first visit to Kentucky and this house was essential to our great trip. Can't wait to come back.
We had stayed for two weeks, and we were very satisfied with the privacy of the house, it was quiet, clean , cozy, and convenient! Jill was very friendly and helpful, she was very thoughtful to prepare everything you need in the house! Highly recommended!
Just as described, easy to find off the highway and really close to a lot of cool unique spots in Lexington. It was a quick stay, but enjoyed the house. Thanks Jill
Jill provided a professional and lovely home for us to stay in. She was very clear in her instructions of how to get into the house so it was super easy and was very responsive to any questions we had via text and/or phone.
Her description of the house is accurate. In fact, better than expected and the entire home is super clean, neat and tidy yet so comfortable it felt like walking into our own home each time. A really great mix of homey atmosphere, nice design/decor with a hint of feeling like we were getting amenities typical of a hotel stay such as coffee, clean towels, shampoos, etc. It is clear that Jill treats this home with much love, attention and professionalism.
The neighborhood was as she described it. It's not a neighborhood that is for everyone in that it's blue collar with some houses neatly kept and others not so much. But we found the neighbors to be really friendly when we were out on the sidewalks. A lot of people sitting on their porches saying hello as you walk by. The neighborhood is super convenient to Interstate highway and other main thoroughfares, downtown restaurants and the Kentucky Horse Park where we were going several times a day.
I can't say enough good things about this row house!
This place is great. Host communicated clearly, had great and friendly touches awaiting my arrival. Wish I could have stayed longer! If you are visiting Lexington, be sure to get to the newest restaurant in the brewery district: middle fork kitchen bar. Went twice in one weekend! Excellent! And, very convenient to Ash St house.
Wow! Everything was perfect. House was super cute, very clean, close to everything we needed. Everyone around was very friendly and polite, Kentucky is gorgeous and this house matches perfectly. Thank you so much, Jil! Can't wait to visit again.
A very cute & lovely place, small and comfortable and extra amenities provided like simple spices for cooking, all cookware needed for basic meals, extra towels, soaps, shampoos, etc. Beds were comfortable as was the couch! Very close to downtown places to eat, drink and shop (we frequented the Square area a lot. Great restaurants there and only a few minutes away). Even closer are a few breweries, especially Blue Stallion witch is practically right up the street!
The only problem we experienced is (as explained in the webpage notes) that the area is a little rough. The first night it was as quiet as can be, but the second night (the 4th of July) beers and tempers were a little too free and there was a fight in the street in front to the house. Scared the wife a bit but no problems after that calmed down (in a few minutes). No one bothered us or gave us any problems.
About the Host, Jill
