As featured in House and Gardens the cottage is set in a tiny hamlet in the middle of fields and one mile from the Thames. Decorated by Colefax and Fowler it is full of antiques but also all mod cons. The cosiest family retreat or romantic getaway!

The space
The cottage is 1.5 hours from London and yet in the most rural of locations. It is also only 25 minutes from the picturesque Cotswold town of Burford and 10 minutes from the pretty market town of Faringdon. The cottage has been decorated and furnished to the highest of standards and with every mod con (including excellent WiFi, Sky TV, Netflix, Apple TV, Nespresso machine) and so is incredibly comfortable and yet rustic. One mile from the Thames you can walk through fields to a lock where barges pass through. There are other lovely walks also directly from the cottage and a bit further away is the White Horse hill.

There is a main bedroom with a double bed, one bedroom with a single bed and a children’s room with three single beds. The main bedroom has a large TV in a cupboard as well as a working fireplace.

Downstairs there is a kitchen with a flagstoned floor, large Aga, all cooking utensils including a Kitchen Aid and a china filled dresser. Next door is a sitting room full of beautiful antiques and with a large open fireplace. There is also a downstairs cloakroom with a loo, washing machine and extra fridge.

Outside there is a separate office with a desk and bookshelves, again all decorated to the highest level. There is also a terrace with a table and chairs, and a log shed.

Other things to note
Please note in summer the Aga is switched off but the left hand unit acts as an electric oven so please use this.

The shower fitting in the bath is very powerful so please be careful when using it not to flood the bathroom.

An Australian stayed in the cottage and noted the beds were 'short'. In the UK we have standard bed lengths so all the beds in the cottage (except one of the children's) are no shorter or longer than any other you will encounter! The main bed is a standard double, the bed in the single room is a single and two beds in the children's room are narrow singles. The third child's bed is a narrow single and a foot shorter than a standard bed. They all have top of the range pocket sprung mattresses and the finest bedlinen from Volga Linen.

The beautiful location and old fashioned friendly hamlet are what makes this cottage unique. Nearby there are wonderful pubs as well as the city of Oxford to visit. The beautiful Cotswold town of Burford is nearby and the world renowned Daylesford organic farm and restaurants. Surrounding the cottage are many wonderful walks through fields and woods and down to a lock on the River Thames.
