Separate, stand alone carriage house behind primary residence, Epworth-by-the-sea, a Historic Landmark home (originally built in 1887). Owner received green design award for using recycled and eco-friendly building materials. Restored and renovated building that was formerly used to store a buggy and horses, and provided chauffeur accommodations during the late 1800's. LOTS of personal touches and original, period-specific Eastlake Victorian design features. All linens provided, including beach towels. High ceilings, approx 600+ square feet of living space overall. Peek ocean views from balcony. This is a unique and special property, and combines luxury with rustic, historic preservation.

Interaction with guests
Home owner is an extrovert and LOVES meeting new people (and animal guests of all sorts), but at the same time, guests can expect that their privacy will be maintained at all times.
Walking distance to Boardwalk, Its Beach (no leash beach, a favorite with dogs!), world class surf, diverse culinary offerings, the SC Surf Museum, and the Municipal Wharf. Very close to downtown and shopping areas. GREAT (and very, very scenic) 10K run right outside your door! Located on the Westside "sun belt" of Santa Cruz.
Bikes and Segway scooters can be rented very close by. Bus lines within close proximity as well. There is on-site, dedicated parking available for one car. There is street parking available for additional cars (no permit required area). Only one car permitted in designated space, please---public transit discount given to those traveling without a motor vehicle.
Other things to note
This unit works very well for visiting professionals seeking an alternative to extended stay hotels. Well-behaved pets are welcome for an additional fee of $25 per night, or $125 for weekly rentals. If bringing a pet, advance notice is absolutely required---please do NOT "Instant Book" if traveling with a pet. Longer term and off season rates (Oct-Mar) are available, and a modest discount is ALWAYS given for stays longer than 4 nights in duration. Weekday rentals and last minute bookings may be discounted further---just ask. 3 night minimum on weekends, please. Also PLEASE NOTE: we love children of all ages, but the carriage house bedroom is very cozy and intimate, and canNOT, under any circumstances, accommodate a crib without blocking the emergency exit. Steep staircase leading up to living space means that unit may not be toddler friendly, so we ask that you please inform us in advance if you are traveling with infants or young children under the age of 6. ***Quoted rates include 11% Transient Occupancy Tax as mandated by the City of Santa Cruz for stays less than 30 days*** Monthly rates are exempt from TOT.
Absolutely no cigarette or tobacco smoke, please. Quiet enjoyment of the space is always other words, no rowdy keg parties. That's pretty much all we ask.
Extroverted host seeks fun-loving guests with two and/or four legs that appreciate coastal vistas, historic architecture, and seaside living. My pet-friendly accommodations are located on the water, and close to many of the wonderful attractions that make Santa Cruz such a great place to visit.
