About this listing
Our Park Slope brownstone is next to Prospect Park and near subways, bars, shops, restaurants and more. You will have exclusive use of a floor with three spare bedrooms and a bathroom, where you will find comfort and privacy.
Our four story brownstone is on a quiet residential block. Although the house was built in the late 1800s, it is comfortable and cozy. There are two bedrooms with very comfortable full size beds and another one with a bunk bed. The room with the bunk bed also makes for a nice sitting room. All are on the same floor. Both bedrooms have closet and drawer space for you to use. We book only one guest or set of guests at a time. So, there will not be anyone other than you or your group sharing the guest space. There is a bathroom and shower that is exclusively for guests while they are here. So, we can pretty easily accommodate up to a family or group of six. If you have work to do, there is also an office on the top floor that is also a nice sitting room.
In addition to their private space, guests will have full access to the common areas of the house including the kitchen, dining room, living room and garden. We hope that guests will take what they want from the refrigerator and cupboard and make themselves at home. We have coffee, tea, breakfast and other items available for the guests.
Interaction with Guests
We look forward to meeting you, accommodating your needs and giving you privacy and space so that you have a productive and enjoyable visit. We are happy to help out with recommendations and arrangements.
The house is on 11th Street right near Prospect Park in the Park Slope Historic District. It is on the block that Time Out New York said is the 20th best block in NYC, and in the heart of Park Slope, which Money Magazine called the best neighborhood in NYC. There is plenty to enjoy in Brooklyn and it is a convenient subway ride to Manhattan. We are a quarter block from Prospect Park, where there are free concerts and other performances in the summer, playgrounds and ball fields, strolling paths, and a zoo, Audubon Center and year-round skating center. There are tons of great restaurants, shops, bars, coffee shops, bakeries, music venues and other attractions nearby. We are a few blocks from the New York City Marathon route. There are great farmers' markets every weekend. Attractions like the Brooklyn Museum, the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, and Greenwood Cemetery are less than a mile away. The Brooklyn Academy of Music and the Barclay's Center are a couple of miles away. You can take the F train straight to Coney Island, DUMBO, the Brooklyn Bridge and there is lots more to explore in Brooklyn.
We are a couple of minutes from the F and G trains and a longer walk to other trains. There are lots of transfer options using those lines. There are nearby bus routes and car services. There is parking on the street (although it can sometimes be difficult to find a spot) and also two indoor garages within a block's distance. People from out of town arrive by all means -- car, train and cab. Some have taken the train from JFK airport. You can find the NYC subway map at (website hidden). Another good website for figuring out how to get around is (website hidden).
Other Things to Note
We have a cat and a dog. The dog is about fifty pounds and does not shed. They are both friendly and happy to have guests. We will have a free New York Times for you.
We are fully compliant with all applicable laws and regulations.
We ask that you act courteously and let us know if there is anything that we can do to meet any needs or to make your stay more comfortable, productive or enjoyable. We do not allow smoking on the premises. In addition, please do not eat meals in the bedrooms.
I'm not sure what I can add to all the previous positive reviews, but I heartily second all of the sentiment. Linda and Jason welcomed us into their home as if we were long lost relatives. Splash was a total sweetheart. The floors were spotless and all of their recommendations were spot-on. Foaming hand soap in the bathroom... color me a happy camper.
Linda was the ideal Airbnb host. Pre-arrival communication was a breeze. She made us feel so welcome as soon as we arrived and was engaging and helpful throughout. We really appreciated being able to talk with her and her husband.
The home itself is absolutely stunning. Beautiful details throughout and absolutely immaculate. Our sleeping space could not have been better. The bed put my own to shame in terms of comfort and the windows provided a beautiful glimpse onto what has to be one of the best blocks in all of New York. Really, there aren't enough superlatives for Linda and her home. Plenty of street parking is available and the F and G are just a few minutes away on foot. Oh, and you are literally situated less than a 1/4 block from Prospect Park.
The next time we need a place in New York, there really won't be much debate about where we're staying. Being able to stay in a home like this is what makes Airbnb so great.
Linda and jason were the consummate hosts - their responses were timely, arrangements for access were easy and they were incredibly generous with their beautiful brownstone. They graciously tolerated our large family (including one seriously jet-lagged 1 year old) and had books and games for the older kids. The neighborhood is awesome - as ex-brooklyners we knew that this was where we wanted to be. All of the positive feedback given previously is well deserved. Many thanks!
Linda and Jason were wonderful hosts. They made us feel at home in their beautiful home. Lots of room to relax. Bedrooms were very bright and comfy. Enjoyed their friendly pets. Got a parking spot right out front. Would like to return since their house is a short distance from our son's apartment. Linda recommended a great restaurant that we enjoyed. Great place to stay.
It was my first time to stay in a airbnb. So luckily, I had such nice hosts who treat me very well . And their home is capacious and comfortable and quite clean. I even thought about not getting back my own home in LA. Lols. I really had wonderful time staying in Linda's house .
We had a great experience staying at Linda and Jason's house this past weekend. They were out of town, but had a neighbor greet us and show us around, and they were very responsive with emails and hospitable and generous with their space. There was so much room to spread out in, and we have an 18 month old who needed her own space to nap, so it was perfect. The rooms were clean and the house had a lot of character. The location was fantastic...it was right off Prospect Park (there was a huge playground 5 minutes from their front door) and other stores and coffee shops. We'd really recommend this place and the price was great too!
Merci encore
Linda and Jason are fabulous hosts. Their place is very cosy and comfortable, guests have their own bathroom and their own floor. It is a perfect home to stay in NYC, very close from the subway (20 minutes to Manhattan), the park and the shops. The neighborhood, Park Slope, is one of the best of Brooklyn and even of the whole city, very quiet and cute.
Both of them are very kind, full of good advices and really interesting people. They welcome you with fresh sheets and towels and you can help yourself in their fridge for breakfast. If you feel so, you are also able to cook in their nice kitchen. You will feel like home with them. They also have a nice deaf dog and a beautiful cat, both very friendly. We'll definitely try to come back for our next stay in Brooklyn and are so thankful for the wonderful time we had. Do not hesitate !
About the Host, Linda
We are a married couple with two girls away at college. So we have some empty rooms. In fact, an entire floor. Additionally, we have a fat cat and a sweet old dog. We are not home much. We are relaxed and happy to have folks enjoy our home and neighborhood. We love Brooklyn. It is an oasis in a big metropolitan area. We enjoy running and biking in Prospect Park. We enjoy yoga and exercise classes at the local YMCA. We enjoy going to delicious local restaurants and exploring the city. The best family vacation we have taken was a hut to hut hiking trip in Iceland.
