  • Jim made us feel welcome straight away, he was friendly and always helpful. He shared information about the area, helped us with the laundry and always kept a bottle of cold water for us in the fridge. Coffee in the morning and if we needed to borrow something like oil for our cooking that was fine too.

Jim was a great host and we could wish for nothing more. It wasn't a problem to share the bathroom with his nephew.

  • Jim was a wonderful host! He has a beautiful home and always went out of his way to keep things clean, cozy, and well-lit, providing all the finishing touches to make my mom really feel at home. We will definitely seek Jim out again for my mom's next visit to San Francisco!

  • Jim's place was really quaint and full of flavor! Great location, near the train and Muni station with nice restaurants around. Jim was an amazing host, there was basic house keeping everyday and he was so friendly to answer any questions that we have and made us feel so welcomed in his house! Would definitely stay there again!

  • Jim's place is a 5-star place - actually it is even better! The apartment is clean, cosy and wellkept, the beds are comfortable and the neighbourhood is awesome and close to everything. But the best thing about this fantastic place is Jim himself. So friendly, helpfull and warm. We would love to come back! Thank you Jim!

  • We had a perfect stay at Jim's place. The apartment is very clean and in a quiet and safe street. It's located close to the muni stations, there are supermarkets and a lot of bars/restaurants in walking distance. It's very close to Places you will probably want to check out on your SF TRIP like Haight Street, Valencia Street, Castro and Mission district.

The kitchen is well equipped and the shower is perfect. Also this might be good to know for europeans: the shower head actually goes over your head so you dont have to lower your head while washing your hair. We had that a lot in America and it makes showering quite unrelaxing. Jim's shower is perfect. Bed, blankets and towels are very comfy too.

The balcony is awesome and has a great view over the city. Just always pack more clothes for outside than you would need on the balcony. There is no wind and so its always a very nice temperature there. But when you go outside it was usually colder.

On top of that he is very very nice and helpful, his dogs are very lovely too. Jim was even helping us scoring tickets for a San Francisco Giants Game, checking their schedule and calling them for us.

We would highly recommend a stay at Jim's place :)

  • Jim is really really great!! We had wonderful time in Jim's apartment.
The apartment located on the roadside and street car is very easy to use.
Inside the apartment a comfortable and practical, and the same in pictures^^
He's very helpful and everything is always cleaned with him.
If i visit San Francisco again,i want to stay in the apartment.

Most of all, the friendly and happy journey with Jim.

  • We really had a wonderful time in Jim's apartment, and Jim is really great. The location was just perfect to walk around Castro, Dolores and the Mission, and otherwise take the Muni to anywhere. We'll certainly come back!

Jim's house is just too lovelyand so typical ! Jim is absolutely charming and very nice. He's very helpful and everything is always cleaned with him. The house is very accessible to the public transport (trams and buses) even if the best way to visit SF is walking, we've appreciated to have them so near.
Thanks a lot Jim for all and maybe for a next time ! Our stay was so great !

  • My parents stayed with Jim for 10 days and were very happy with the entire experience. Very nice and charming apartment, and Jim was a great host! The location is great, and the view from the back was amazing. Jim's dogs which were frequently hanging out in the back yard, though big, turned out to be total sweethearts too.

It was a little strange that the "private bathroom" was in fact shared with someone on the top floor, whose only way into the house was through the kitchen door of the apartment. I understand that this was temporary, but I know my mom was a little bit uncomfortable with having someone they were not introduced to going through the kitchen at any hour.

About
I have lived in the Castro District since 1975. I can offer directions and recommendations for most any destination you wish to travel in San Francisco. I can offer a pretty accurate historical commentary on the development of my wonderful neighborhood. I am a congenial host and amenable to most reasonable requests from my guests I am an ardent pet lover (just ask my two beautiful Mastiff's). I can also offer transportation to the San Francisco airport for a nominal $20.00 fee. Sorry no airport pick ups I have lived in my Castro St Victorian for 30 yrs. The home was built in 1886 with water and gas turned on by the city in 1887 when at that time it was occupied by the builder Jacob Anderson and his family, The family came from Denmark in 1876 and had six beautiful daughters, the youngest born in the home in 1898. I became the 2nd owner of the home in 1983 purchasing it from the youngest surviving daughter, Esther. As a point of interest I have the original 1886 Deed and Tittle search all done in perfect Scroll penmanship framed for viewing. So, if you want a warm clean historic place to stay while in San Francisco, this is it. WELCOME TO MY BEAUTIFUL CITY BY THE BAY
