The Space

DESCRIPTION:
This perfectly equipped nice studio has a bright room with a small sunny southward balcony, a corridor with a kitchen and a brand new bathroom with wc, sink and shower..
It was completely renovated and remodeled in March 2012 and just got 3 brand new heaters for the winter.

AMENITIES:
You will find everything you would expect in a hotelroom. towels, bedsheets, duvet, hairdryer...., a new high quality latex mattress of 140x200cm, a fan for summer, heating for winter, an umbrella, an amazing shower including a 'rainshower'head, a very well equipped kitchen, brand new silver cutlery, new kitchen knives, overall very clean, just renovated, and a lot of light and good energy because of its southward exposure.....
highspeed wireless Internet included, Bose SoundDock Serie II for iPod & iPhone or other mp3 players with remote control and iPod full of music
Under the bed is convenient storage space in drawers for two big suitcases and much more.

LOCATION:
The popular MARAIS is just a 5min walk away, but the area along the Canal Saint Martin which you see from the balcony is amazing and upcoming and just became very trendy over the past 3-4 years, and my personal opinion as a local is, it´s a much nicer place to stay then the Marais: cooler places and more authenticity. It is comparable to areas like Berlin Mitte/Prenzlauer Berg/ Kreuzberg or Williamsburg or EastVillage in NYC.
And during the warm period it is definitely one of the best places to enjoy lovely sunny afternoons and evenings.
All the nice people from the area use to have picnics along the Canal whenever the sun is out, it´s magnificent.

It is a very young lively chilled easy going area, you will love it!! (note: there is no noise from all that bothering you in the studio, also the streets are not noisy at night)
There are all the nice and trendy boutiques, restaurants and cafes just around the corner (APC, american apparel, agnes b, Antoine et Lili, ChezPrune, the Cambodge, Marie Louise...)
Also: parisian openair market open on Sundays, supermarket, laundry, rental bike stations(Velib),.....

As in most typical Parisian buildings there is no lift and I just got great feedback emailed from a former guest: „At first I wasn't very excited about the stairs, but by the end of our trip I was looking forward to the extra exercise! The walking that the city demands of you becomes addictive and is surely one of the reasons Parisians are so fit and skinny.“

if there is anything else you´d like to know, please get in touch
kind regards Justin

  • The apartment is perfect and in the best location - the 10ar in Paris. Its small but perfect for a couple. Wifi is good, the bathroom is funky and great and Justin has everything you need in the apartment. To top it off he has a superb map of everything you need close by on the kitchen wall and some fantastic recommendations for nearby restaurants, which is good as there are so many to chose from! Its a cute, cosy, funky little place and Justin is the perfect host. Be prepared, its Paris, so its up 6 flights of stairs, but its superbly located and very close to Republique Metro.

  • Justin's apartment is cozy and everything you saw on the photos. We stayed there for 6 days. If you like Shoreditch in East London and Williamsburg in Brooklyn, you would love this neighborhood. The stairs can be challenge for some as for my 55 years old husband, but we both love the apartment and the location. A lesson for us is we don't need a lot to be happy. A 300 sqft home can bring you as much happiness or more as a 2400 sqft house. I personally will miss this home away from home forever. Highly recommend for someone who can appreciate less is more and it's very affordable. Justin is more than helpful during our stay, thank you Justin.

  • Justin was an excellent host. He was very pleasant and (email hidden)ere was no difficulty contacting him before our stay. He was waiting for us at the location on arrival and went through the details of the apartmetn and the area. We know the area well but for anyone who didn't there was plenty of information on restaurants, shops etc. The apartment is reasonably well kitted out with all the essentials. The 108 steps of stairs to the apartment are a bit challenging when you are carrying luggage and migh be an issue if you weren't very fit! There is also quite a bit of noise right into the early hours of the morning at the weekend as the canal is very popular with young people and there are restaurants and bars on the street below the apartment. As there is no air conditioning you can't close the window and the sound travels upward.

  • this was a great stay for our 4 nights in the Canal St. Martin area. Justin met us on our walk from the metro & pointed out sweet spots to eat and drink in the neighbourhood. we took his advice and are so glad we did: we wouldn't have found such gems otherwise. he was right, the Cambodia place just downstairs is fantastic!
the place was perfectly tidy & well-appointed with everything you could need, especially the kitchen stuff. it was great to be able to plug my iPhone into the dock & use the speakers.
i found that, as long as the windows are closed, you don't hear the street noise in the flat. and it wasn't very hot outside while we were there (early June), so lack of AC was not an issue.
the whole process was very smooth. would definitely recommend it. the neighbourhood is a little bit scruffy, but that's what you get for being in a more 'emerging' area where more regular Parisians live & new businesses are arriving. never felt dangerous or anything like that, it just wasn't the most spotless.

  • A well appointed apartment in a fantastic neighbourhood of Paris. Really enjoyed being able to live like a 'local' for a week! Justin was a fabulous host, easy to communicate with to arrange arrival/departure times. He was there in person for check-in and provided a wealth of information and recommendations on the surrounding area for markets, restaurants, cafes, etc. Overall an excellent experience, many thanks Justin!

  • justin was very helpful upon our arrival. he explained everything about the apartment and even showed us the custom map he created in the kitchen detailing places to see in the neighborhood. the apartment was ideally located and made getting to and from places easy. you have to go up quite a few stairs to get to the apartment, but it's good exercise! a small, but great place to stay in paris.

  • It was great staying at Justin's place. I didn't get to meet him but he responded pretty quickly when he was not in the same timezone. The view is just amazing but it is 7 flights by stairs so that was pretty intense when I had my luggage but it is worth the walk up. The neighborhood was great and he had a recommendation book about where to eat and all that was really helpful. Overall , great stay in Paris! Thank you justin :)

  • Great French flat in a really nice area in Paris! Entirely Recommendable!

  • The communication with Justin was really great. He sent us an email with directions, phone number, wifi pasword and further details. He spontaneousely approved to check out later than agreed because we had a late flight back home.
The apartment is clean, very nicely decorated and has all things you need. It is very centrally located in a young neighbourhood. We highly recommend Justin's apartment.

  • We had a brilliant time in Justin's flat. He met us there and spent some time talking us through both the flat and the local area. He has a lot of excellent suggestions so make sure to ask him! The flat itself is a perfect size for a couple having a short break. There is a lovely shower and bathroom, large bed with big storage drawers beneath, a cute and very cleverly arranged kitchen with everything you need, and even a little breakfast bar! The place was spotlessly clean when we arrived. The location was ideal for us as we love the canal and the shops and restaurants nearby, but we could walk to Republique station in ten minutes if we wanted to go further. You can easily walk to the Marais from the flat.

In summary – lovely host, lovely flat, lovely location. Would highly recommend.

About
Bonjour! Have been living in Paris for five years now and have been enjoying it a lot! I´m a passionate host on Airbnb, 'Superhost' even, and only happy when my guests are happy. I love to share my knowledge and appreciation and love for Paris with my guests. I will always do everything I can to make your stay as perfect and as comfortable as possible. A while ago I teamed up with Sara, a young American, to be even more available for our guests at all times. We are very flexible time wise, so me or my partner Sara will always meet you in person when you arrive and welcome you and share local knowledge with you. I´m managing these apartments for their individual owners and I carefully select them and only take on places I would be happy to arrive at myself if I would be the guest. We are looking forward to seeing you in Paris soon!
