Welcome to Seldom Seen Cabin--our definition of "cozy" and your escape to comfort and relaxation. We trust you’ll feel completely at home and grounded in nature at our secluded West Virginia cabin with mountain views.
Stunning landscapes, steaming mineral spas in Berkeley Springs, and the Paw Paw Tunnel are just three reasons to visit Seldom Seen Cabin this spring. In the fall and winter, guests of Seldom Seen Cabin say how much they love the sight and feel of a fire blazing in our wood burning stove and the coziness of the cabin environment. We think you'll agree!
Guests of Seldom Seen Cabin also love our mountain view, making your stay a unique one. We are located at the top of a mountain ridge, at approximately 1200 feet in elevation and the views from our covered, screened-in porch are to die for. During fall and winter, the leafless trees open the view to magnificent star gazing and on clear nights with absolutely no light pollution around, the sky is teeming with shooting stars.
In spring and summer, guests of Seldom Seen Cabin enjoy fishing and paddling on the nearby Cacapon River—known for excellent angling, beautiful scenery, hunting, plentiful wildlife, canoeing and kayaking. It’s one of the most pristine rivers to feed the Potomac and Chesapeake Watershed! Guests have exclusive access to the Cacapon River for launching kayaks/canoes/floats. Families and friends can also enjoy a slow float down the river, or wading and swimming at the nearby low water bridge during summer months. There are numerous alternative public stream access points to launch small boats, with the closest being located on Route 9 just .03 miles from Great Cacapon.

Our cozy, open-concept living area features an extremely comfortable Lazy-boy sofa with dual powered recliners, a second recliner for additional seating, Chromecast-enabled WiFi to stream your favorite shows, and a selection of DVDs for the entire family to enjoy. Interaction with guests
We'll interact with you to provide directions and access to the cabin. Cabin access is self-service through a lockbox, allowing for flexible arrival times.
During the summer months, cicadas and katydids fill the night air with their song-song cadence. On clear nights, the sky off the deck opens to a million stars. The "neighborhood" is home only to the sounds of nature and what you make of it.
No public transportation.
Other things to note
During the winter, the cabin's primary source of heat is the wood stove. (There are also baseboard heaters in the bedrooms and bathroom). We provide all wood, kindling, and instructions on how to get a roaring fire built in no time.
Archery season starts on Sept. 23rd and so begins hunting season in WV. Although we do not allow hunting on our land, we do recommend that you wear blaze orange or bright colors when you venture into the woods or on hiking trails.
Wildlife viewing is part of the joy of staying at our West Virginia cabin, however, please do not leave food or trash outside as it will attract wild animals (bears included!)

Since I was a young girl digging for crawdads in the unspoiled creeks of rural Ohio, I’ve found my true north in the woods. My partner and I purchased our cabin in 2014 as a place where we could get away from the crazy of the city and to foster our young daughter’s appreciation for nature. We’re thrilled to offer this special place for you to unwind and reconnect.
