In spring and summer you'll hear a concert of birds of all sorts, discover nests in the backyard trees, and maybe even a deer roaming the reserve at the other side of the fenced backyard. All while you get ready for the beach! No, it's not a dream, it's just wild East Hampton!

The house is about 5-7 minutes drive to beach in Sag Harbor/North Haven, and about the same time to beaches in East Hampton. If you don't have a car, you may borrow bikes (first-come, first-served). To get to the beach you'll be riding 4-5 miles on mostly flat roads with just a few slopes, through beautiful fields and wooden areas of the Hamptons.

East Hampton Village and Town is located 2 1/2 hours from Manhattan and it is served by the LIRR train and the Hampton Jitney/Luxury Line buses (buses run every hour during most part of the day). Of course you can also drive your own car, there is ample space in the driveway for parking.

East Hampton Village is one of the most upscale towns in the country with restaurants and boutiques galore. If you need to find a specific place please ask and we'll try to help you out giving you maps, directions, and references.

  • My stay at wonderful Laura and her lovely husband's home was so much more than I expected. Yes, the house was immaculate, comfortable, inviting; yes, the house was situated in a lovely wooded area and it was quiet and beautiful. But even more wonderful was their kindness, artistic sensibility, their sense of humanity, and their brilliant lives. I truly fell in love with both of them and wished I could have stayed longer, and only wish, for all of those reasons, that I lived on the East Coast so I could visit more often. If you are an artist, have a sense of the world and history, staying at Laura's and her husband's place is a true gift to yourself.

  • Laura and Horacio are a wonderful couple! We had the best time in the room. It was impeccably clean, as was the bathroom. They greeted us warmly at night and we had a wonderful breakfast that Horacio prepared. If we're ever in the area again, we'll most definitely be staying with the two! I recommend the place without a doubt.

  • We stayed for 5 days in the Hamptons, had a great time, and Horacio and Laura were the key. Their house is 4 miles from Sag Harbor, 3.5 miles from East Hampton Village, which has the best beach we've seen. The house is beautiful, quiet, and comfortable, with a backyard leading out to a nature preserve. Laura makes breakfast, and you're free to fix other small meals in the kitchen. Horacio was also very sweet and one day, he hosed down my car when he noticed how dirty it was. They are a wonderful couple, tactful and know when to give you privacy; on the other hand, they've led and are leading interesting lives, can talk on a range of subjects, and are happy to engage. They are warm and fun, and the house is filled with art they've made themselves. Laura taught us about origami, a field in which she is an expert. She also gave us a typed booklet with maps of places to visit, where to see the best sunsets, and even where to find Steven Spielberg's house, if you're so inclined. If you like dogs, there's a great dog; if you don't, they'll keep the dog hidden away so you hardly know he's there. Eating on the patio looking at the trees was so relaxing, such a simple pleasure that gets lost to us in the city. The room was cheerful and private, and they're happy to make any little adjustments. There's beautiful hiking all around, the Parrish museum 15 minutes away, great restaurants, etc. We recommend the Inlet Seafood Restaurant in Montauk, a 45 minute drive, where the sunset is lovely. Still, the rapport we developed with Horacio and Laura was one of the highlights and we'll be back soon. It's very affordable, perfectly located, and we plan to go several times a year.

    Response from Laura:

Thank you Valerie & Wade for such a thoughtful and kind review. We are beginning to understand that opening a house to guests is an act of love, and as such all these little details count and are important. A very delicate machine.
I hope not to spoil the magic of this moment with a mundane information (correction), but I know our guests are very sensitive about "distance". We are located 3.5 miles from Main Street in East Hampton Village; and just 4 miles from Sag Harbor Main St. Now, going to the beaches, may count for an extra mile, and then you're right, that would be about 5 miles to either direction. Thank you for the opportunity to clarify this matter.
Hope to see you soon. :)

  • Laura and her husband are friendly, gracious and helpful hosts. Their house is immaculate, beautiful and well-located. I especially loved their artwork, gorgeous backyard with deck, and their happy, super-soft dog Astor. We had the perfect Labor Day weekend staying at their place. We even slept 12 hours one night - heavenly! We also enjoyed eating breakfast with their other guests. Thanks again Laura!

  • Laura and her husband Horatio were attentive, sweet, and very helpful hosts. The were incredibly warm and inviting and even offered a simple continental breakfast (toast, jam, cream cheese, coffee and juice). What a delight! Their home is extremely quiet, well kept, and has a gorgeous back yard and lawn. Laura suggested that we rent a car, and we were glad that we took her advise as the Hamptons are actually quite spread out and you can maximize the amount of places you explore with a car. Laura and Horatio were incredibly generous with information and resources. They provided us a guide of activities and gave us maps which outlined "insider's tips" on housing and driving routes. They offered us use of their his'n'hers bikes, though we didn't have an opportunity to take them out due to rain. They even let us borrow beach towels and a beach umbrella for shade! The rooms are clean and the furnishings comfortable and simple -- perfect for our quick Hamptons adventure. We would definitely stay with this great couple again.
