The Space

Rent a wonderful, expansive room in our comfortable home in Los Angeles. Guests have access to the kitchen, living room and dining areas. The bedroom and bathroom are private. We have wi-fi and cable, all amenities. Guests should make themselves feel at home.

Our house is located in a secluded, quiet enclave which fills with early morning birdsong and yet we are within close walking and driving distance to some of the liveliest areas in the city. In fact, we are extremely close to all the interesting neighborhoods in Los Angeles, including our own, Silver Lake. Silver Lake is an artistic, creative and active community. There are plenty of shops, cafes, bars, restaurants just down the street. Local Farmer's market every Saturday and Tuesday. If you are interested in the outdoors, there are many parks and trails to explore. By foot, we are a short walk to Sunset Junction, and adjacent neighborhoods and areas like Griffith Park, Echo Park, Atwater Village and Los Feliz. By car, our house is located 10 minutes to Downtown LA, 10 minutes to Hollywood and N. Hollywood, 20 minutes to Beverly Hills and Mid-town, 20 minutes to Culver City, 15 minutes to Pasadena, 25 minutes to the beach... Easy access to all the major freeways makes getting around town a snap. As a multi-generation Angelino, I'd be more than happy to answer any questions you have about the city.

  • I had an absolutely wonderful stay with Peter and Diane. They are the coolest couple and they let me into their home with so much warmth and generosity. There was nothing bad about the experience and I only have lovely things to say about them both and their fantastic home (and not leaving you out Rugby). I will miss them and hope to visit them again soon.

  • Pete and Diane were awesome hosts! I'd highly recommend staying with them as not only are they very welcoming and chilled out, but their house has got to be one of the coolest pads in town, and it was an absolute pleasure to spend five or so days there. They're dog Rugby is awesome too! Thanks guys ... Looking forward to catching up next time I'm in town! All the best, Ed

  • I enjoyed my time at Peter and Diane's house. My room was comfortable, and I had the spacious clean bathroom to myself. I enjoyed my soak in the tub when I decided not to use the shower. The guest space is private. The house is in a good location to walk or drive to nearby places. The homes in the area are lovely, and I liked my morning walks around Silver Lake. Peter and Diane besides being good hosts were easy and fun to be around. Others have commented on Rugby, the dog. I will add my two cents. He's a sweetie. Staying somewhere with pets is a great addition as far as I'm concerned. I was pleased with my choice to stay here.

  • We are a couple from Switzerland and we spent great days in the beautiful house from Peter and Diane! We felt like home and of course we fell in love with their dog Rugby! Thank you very much Peter and Diane for the great advices and the warm welcome in your house!

  • We were guests of Diane and Peter twice in 6 weeks in September and October 2013. They were gracious hosts and truly lived “our house is your house”. The room was fantastic and comfortable with a separate bathroom. After staying the first time we traveled extensively and really looked forward to returning to their house before flying back to Switzerland. They were flexible and more than helpful in finding directions, restaurants, etc. All in all a pleasant stay which we can recommend without (website hidden): We spent enjoyable evenings with their lovely, quiet dog Rugby.

  • My husband and I needed a place to stay at the very last minute and Peter and Diane came to our rescue! They responded quickly to our request and were extremely accommodating and very welcoming. We were in town to scout apartments for a permanent move and they couldn't have been more helpful in giving us recommendations and information on various neighborhoods and general LA living. Also, the room/bathroom was very tidy and clean. A lovely experience!

  • Peter and Diane were excellent hosts. They were kind enough to be very flexible with check in and check out times, and they met us when we arrived late at night, give us a tour of the house, and provided great suggestions for what to do during our long weekend in LA. They also checked in with us a few times during our stay to be sure that we were comfortable at their house and enjoying our trip, which, of course, we were! We wouldn't hesitate to return.

  • We loved staying here. The guest-suite is spacious and airy, super-clean, and so is the rest of Peter and Diane's wonderful home. Rugby the adorable dog is another plus. He is peaceful and loving. The neighborhood is hilly with lots of trees, and it feels more like a village than a city. We stayed five nights while attending a yoga teacher-training in West Hollywood, and we will be back for sure. Only regret was not having more time to visit with Peter & Diane, our cutltured and welcoming hosts. They know everything about la dolce vita in LA. Looking forward to next time.

  • Although I had less time to chat this time, it was great to see Diane, Peter and Rugby again. Staying in their house is like having a second home. They are generous, interesting, witty and helpful and they even conjured up a cocktail called mule. There could not be a better place to stay in L.A. x

  • One could not ask for a better set of hosts and location in LA. We talked like old friends (granted Peter is a New Yorker!), and slept like babies. Location - close to cycling, yoga, late night diners, and brunch places - so no LA gridlock to worry about! Even Rugby, their dog, kissed us good bye!

About
My wife, DIane, and I are endlessly fascinated with Los Angeles and the Southern California natural and cultural landscapes. I'm a transplanted New Yorker and she's a multi-generation native. We love wine, dark chocolate and good conversation. We have traveled together extensively across various parts of the United States and Canada, to Kyoto and Kyushu in Japan, Oaxaca, Jalisco and Baja in Mexico and Tamil Nadi in South India. Diane has traveled extensively through various parts of Europe. We enjoy life... hiking, yoga, swimming, music, art, friends, traveling and the great outdoors. Recently, we explored many parts of California with the Sierra Club and independently Hawaii, our second home. Both are magical places. We were engaged out at Indian Cove in Joshua Tree and married at the Wedge in Newport Beach in California.
