Staying at the Slumber Party Room was a blast! Our initial messages via AirBnB to the host got no response, but after looking up the retreat center's number online we reached our host and had fantastic communication via phone and text. The space was a lot of fun and perfect for a group event. There was plentiful parking, the pool and hot tub were great (along with the BBQ poolside), and the community center was perfect for hanging out and playing board games. As a base of operations for adventures in the area, it had a great location with easy freeway access. All in all, a wonderful spot, especially if you're looking to recreate a summer camp vibe with a group of friends.
Our group of 21 rented out all 12 rooms of the Oasis Lodge as well as the Slumber Party Room as we wanted the entire building to ourselves. Expectedly, it's not the most luxurious wine country housing, but for our large group it was a ton of fun.
We didn't end up using the Slumber Party Room for sleeping, but enjoyed the ping pong and pool tables. One note is that it does get very hot since it's an attic room and took a while for it to cool down, even at night.
An excellent host and location – one I sort of couldn't believe exists. Every staff member I met was extremely helpful and kind. They were both there whenever we needed anything, extremely accommodating, and also were respective of giving space. The property itself is beautiful, unique, and lovely. Some people have commented that it is run down - that is certainly not the case. It's no Hyatt, but it is overall well-maintained and has great charm.
We paid $25 to use the pizza oven, which appeared small but fit huge Costco pizzas no problem. It was easy to store the pizzas in their huge walk-in refrigerator until they were ready. They also cooked in about 5 minutes each so it was easy for us to cook enough pizzas for our group of 25.
One potentially deceptive thing about this listing - the slumber party room is connected, with no walls, to the Pharaoh room. In fact, they're really the same room (a giant room that spans the top of the lodge). Nobody was staying in that room so it wasn't an issue for us, but it could be if both areas are rented. People from the Pharaoh room would need to cross into the slumber party room to use the restroom, and both use the same stairs, etc.
Another negative - there were some very loud people in the pool outside the lodge that were drunkenly reveling all the way up to 2:30 (even though quiet hours are 12:00). They only stopped when I went and asked them to, and fortunately were cool about it. Certainly I could have done this earlier. But, a warning that quiet hours are not really enforced here, and there is little sound insulation in this room since you need the windows open to avoid being roasted alive.
Regardless, I would definitely recommend.
We sure appreciate having you and your group stay with us Eli-we hope you can visit us again soon. Just FYI, we will not reserve the Slumber Party Room or the Pharaoh's Chamber if the other section is reserved. The Pharaoh's Chamber is intended for a honeymoon retreat while the Slumber Party Room accommodates the name. I hope that makes sense. Sorry to hear about the noise but we really do appreciate your group and hope you can visit us again soon.
For my husband and I, this was our second stay at Isis Oasis. This time we brought all our friends to stay in the slumber party room! We all had an amazing time playing table tennis, billiards, swimming, soaking in the hot tub, talking with the birds, wine tasting, fire dancing, and eating dinner together in the common area. This place is a gem!
Very nice stay. Place was clean. There was a bathroom on the floor we were at and the showers were downstairs which were communal. DeTraci gave us a good tour of the cats and grounds.
DeTraci and friends of Isis Retreat Center were absolutely amazing hosts-- the center was a perfect place to celebrate a birthday with friends. The grounds are beautiful and animals well cared for. DeTraci made me feel very welcome when we arrived, and I would happily recommend others to come check out such an interesting and inspiring place!
We had a group of 8 for a birthday party and we loved this place. It was perfect for the event. The space is amazing and unusual. Nothing there is new, but all of it is very clean. The only downside was that the kitchen was under construction and I was told that if it was available it has to be reserved seperately if you want to use it. Check on this first if it's something you require. There also is not a bbq by the pool as it says in the description. There is an amazing pizza oven and we made use of it! Bring your own wine openers and wood and plan on eating out or not cooking. Other than that--- definitely come here, unless you're uptight because you'll definitly hate it. All of the staff was so friendly and helpful! I don't know enough about wild cats to form an opinion about the sanctuary, but it does seem like the animals are well loved and isn't that all any body wants now adays.

About the Host, DeTraci
I'm the director of the Isis Oasis Sanctuary, a beautiful and magical retreat center and lodge in the heart of the Alexander Valley wine country in Sonoma County.I worked very closely with Loreon Vigne, who owned the Retreat Center for 35 years, and who unfortunately recently passed away. She was a San Franciscan where she created a line of giftware and jewelry and came to the country to retire in 1978 on a 10 acre plot of land in beautiful Alexander Valley. She spent this time creating art and beauty on her property which has a number of interesting buildings of historic significance including a 600 year old heritage tree. She dedicated the land to the ancient Egyptian Goddess Isis, otherwise known as Mother Earth. Instead of retiring, she used her time making her property a living art project. We are a non-profit organization housing exotic cats and birds of many species including a vivarium of interesting insects and small reptiles. There is also an art gallery for her artwork on the property as well as a gift bazaar offering ancient Egyptian altar pieces. There is a permaculture garden and labyrinth on the property to enjoy. We have a pool and spa, Isis meditation temple and a redwood walled theater where concerts/plays/films are showcased, plus some cob structures built of local earth. Please come and visit us at our unique peaceful sanctuary...I look forward to meeting you.
