Very nice stay. Place was clean. There was a bathroom on the floor we were at and the showers were downstairs which were communal. DeTraci gave us a good tour of the cats and grounds.
DeTraci and friends of Isis Retreat Center were absolutely amazing hosts-- the center was a perfect place to celebrate a birthday with friends. The grounds are beautiful and animals well cared for. DeTraci made me feel very welcome when we arrived, and I would happily recommend others to come check out such an interesting and inspiring place!
We had a group of 8 for a birthday party and we loved this place. It was perfect for the event. The space is amazing and unusual. Nothing there is new, but all of it is very clean. The only downside was that the kitchen was under construction and I was told that if it was available it has to be reserved seperately if you want to use it. Check on this first if it's something you require. There also is not a bbq by the pool as it says in the description. There is an amazing pizza oven and we made use of it! Bring your own wine openers and wood and plan on eating out or not cooking. Other than that--- definitely come here, unless you're uptight because you'll definitly hate it. All of the staff was so friendly and helpful! I don't know enough about wild cats to form an opinion about the sanctuary, but it does seem like the animals are well loved and isn't that all any body wants now adays.
There were 8 of us getting together for a boys weekend, and Isis Oasis was the perfect place for us. DeTraci was very friendly and accommodating, as were all of the folks who help to manage the property.
The property has a very bohemian feel, but was surprisingly well maintained and functional. The kitchen and lodge area were very nice. Excellent commercial kitchen, walk-in fridge, BBQ, plenty of table seating.
We took a tour of the property, and were amazed by all of the exotic birds and cats. It's a very cool sanctuary for wild animals.
The hot tub was hot, the swimming pool was icy cold (great for taking cold plunges in January)
We'll definitely be back!
I rented the Slumber Party Room for my best friend's bachelorette party. Miguel, the host, made us feel welcome and was accommodating to our requests. Sadly, the pictures are deceiving and I was disappointed. It looked clean and well-kempt, but was not. Everything is very old and there's a potent musk smell throughout the commune buildings. The Slumber Party Room is the attic of one of the commune buildings and it gets VERY hot because there's only on A/C unit and a few fans. There are a bunch of other rooms downstairs and a shared shower area so not much privacy at all. It was an interesting experience to say the least. The sanctuary is fun except the cat exhibit is closed until they renew their license so that was a bummer. Other guests seemed very content with the grounds of the Isis Oasis, but my party and I thought it was weird and not as we expected.
The hosts were very welcoming as were the other guests. The grounds and buildings are beautiful. There's rare/exotic animal and bird exhibits and plenty of trails to walk around. The actual room is lie a massive finished attic that can easily hold 20 people and feels like a ballroom barn. It gets pretty hot up there, but once the fans and windows get going it cools down once the sun falls. The on-site kitchen is huge and has any utensils and cooking wares you could ask for. The place was clean, yet rustic and had a glamping feel to it.
Isis Oasis is such an incredible place! Its unique dedication to the Egyptian goddess Isis and all the wonderful animals make it unlike any other place I ever stayed. Loreon put us up in the Isis temple and it was great! The whole compound is so fun, quirky, easy going and full of surprises! If you are up for an Ancient Egyptian adventure this is the place! The whole Isis Oasis is also pleasant and clean - though we shared the bathrooms and showers with other guests - but it was the perfect accomodation for our group of friends for relaxing, pool time, visiting the animals and be inspired by the originality and creativity of the Ancient Egyptian decor! Thank you, Loreon, you have created such a great place to celebrate and relax!

About the Host, DeTraci
I'm the director of the Isis Oasis Sanctuary, a beautiful and magical retreat center and lodge in the heart of the Alexander Valley wine country in Sonoma County.I worked very closely with Loreon Vigne, who owned the Retreat Center for 35 years, and who unfortunately recently passed away. She was a San Franciscan where she created a line of giftware and jewelry and came to the country to retire in 1978 on a 10 acre plot of land in beautiful Alexander Valley. She spent this time creating art and beauty on her property which has a number of interesting buildings of historic significance including a 600 year old heritage tree. She dedicated the land to the ancient Egyptian Goddess Isis, otherwise known as Mother Earth. Instead of retiring, She used her time making her property a living art project. We are a non-profit organization housing exotic cats and birds of many species including a vivarium of interesting insects and small reptiles. There is also an art gallery for her artwork on the property as well as a gift bazaar offering ancient Egyptian altar pieces. There is a permaculture garden and labyrinth on the property to enjoy. We have a pool and spa, Isis meditation temple and a redwood walled theater where concerts/plays/films are showcased, plus some cob structures built of local earth by Miguel Elliott. Please come and visit us at our unique peaceful sanctuary...I look forward to meeting you.
