Interaction with Guests
We plan to leave guests to enjoy the property however we are always on hand to answer questions and make recommendations.
We are in a secluded quiet area however we are immersed in the surrounding history, and view our property as a peaceful and relaxing retreat while still maintaining accessible transport links.
There is limited public transport, namely a 4x daily bus service to Worcester (our nearest city), and Tenbury Wells (a pretty and unique local town).
Thus we recommend that guests bring a car or their own form of transport.
We expect guests to look after the cottage but still hope they enjoy the accommodation and the surrounding area.
Beautiful place, we really enjoyed our stay. It was very peaceful and the cottage itself was perfect and had everything that we needed. The beds were very comfortable and we would definitely stay again. The Great Witley Estate and fountains and church are well worth a visit.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the cottage; it is well appointed and is simply a lovely place to stay. It is also very spacious and smartly decorated. If you're planning to cook, the kitchen is equipped with all the gear and appliances you'll need to prepare your meals. The setting is quite rural, but quiet and bucolic... a perfect remedy for the frenetic pace of an urban environment. Last, but not least, Jan is a wonderful and accommodating host, who strives to ensure that her guests experience a pleasant and memorable stay.
I stayed at Jan's cottage with 3 friends over Christmas. The cottage was immaculate with so many nice & homely touches. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, crockery & kitchen items...all we could need for Christmas dinner preparations. Jan & Peter were very friendly and responded quickly to an issue we had with the shower, so that we were not unconvinced at all. Great Witley is located in a beautiful area of the country and a short drive to many other quaint and scenic villages. Thank-you Jan & Peter for the perfect country getaway. I highly recommend the engine keepers cottage & hope to return one day soon.
We had a great time staying at the Engine Keeper's cottage and would definitely go back. Jan was lovely and friendly and made us feel welcome while also letting us enjoy our visit uninterrupted. The cottage is in gorgeous grounds and Whitley Court is well worth a visit too. I really can't recommend Jan amd the cottage enough.
I honestly can't say enough good things about our experience staying at Jan's cottage in Great Witley. Jan herself was so helpful in helping me prepare for my trip to the country, suggesting a driver service and answering general queries. She responded very quickly to all of my messages as well. The cottage itself exceeded our expectations, spotless upon arrival, modern amenities, and very well maintained. Jan was also available to help us with some simple things during our stay. We were visiting for a wedding about 30 minutes away and it was a great home away from home in a gorgeous setting. Our favorite part of the cottage was being temporary neighbors with Millie the pony! The cottage is in walking distance to Witley Court, which is a great place to visit. I can't really suggest anything that would make a stay at the Engine Keepers Cottage any better than it was. Thanks, Jan!
It was very good; Jan and Peter welcome us warmly; but we were late because we could hardely find the place; for us UK is new coming from holland for the first time in UK; but the welcome was so kindly that we forgett quickly the stress
A wonderful cottage, that has every need catered for. A very well equipped house, and we were wanting for nothing. Beautifully decorated and maintained. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
We live in the old Engine House in rural Worcestershire which used to house the engines which fired the fountains at Witley Court, a stately home currently managed by English Heritage.
We have two children, one lives in London and the other in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
We love the theatre, literature, poetry and consider ourselves fortunate to be so close to Stratford upon Avon for the RSC and Birmingham for the arts, theatre, shopping and restaurants.
We have travelled widely and enjoy meeting people from anywhere and everywhere.
