Camino Verde B&B is a "Bed and Breakfast" style lodging opened in 2009 and located on the edge of Santa Elena. The B&B is laid out in the style of a family house and guests are encouraged to treat it as their home. The building was in fact once the owner\'s family home which gave inspiration to this ¨Tica House¨ designed hotel.
The B&B is situated a 5 minute walk from the town centre of Santa Elena, but is far enough away for it to be quiet and have more rural surroundings. This is the perfect option for those who crave the quiet side of the countryside but who require the amenities provided in a town.
Camino Verde B&B comprises private rooms which sleep 2 to 4 guests. Four of the rooms have shared bathroom facilities and the rest are en suite. For the rooms with private bathroom the prices are $33 for one person, $44 for a double, triple $55 and quadruple $66. Rooms with shared bathroom costs $23 for a single and $33 for a double. All prices include breakfast and tax.
Breakfast is free for all guests and is served from 6:30am until 8:30 am. There are three options for breakfast: the first is the typical Tico dish of eggs, rice and beans and toast; the second is fried or scrambled eggs with toast; the third is a fruit platter served with toast. Real coffee and orange juice is also available for every guest.
Check-out time is 11 am but guests are welcome to use the communal areas all day if they have a late bus to catch. Camino Verde also offers a luggage storage service.
The friendly staff on reception are also experienced tour agents so can give out impartial advice on all the local companies. Furthermore they can share their countrywide knowledge of Costa Rica and organize any ongoing travel. Upon arrival at the hotel they give all guests a map of Monteverde and mark out all the different tours and activities that various companies offer in the area. This way guests learn about what is available to them and can suss out how long they might like to stay for. If required they can create "pick and mix" packages of various activities to suit each individual.
Please let us know if you need any help on getting to Monteverde! We can help you arrange a Shuttle or a Taxi Boat Taxi if your coming from Arenal, For example, the taxi boat taxi is $25 a person and Shuttle from San Jose to Monteverde is $39 p.p

When Andres said "Welcome to my home...", he welcomed us to a clean room, quiet nights, excellent breakfasts, and all in all the best deal I have seen in a long time. Would recommend highly, best possible option in this beautiful area.
Andres was a great host for us on our 1 night swing through Monteverde. He was accommodating and funny, and helped recommend tours and places to eat. Everything was great and I'd recommend him and his B&B to anyone making Monteverde a stop on their Costa Rica trip.
Camino Verde is a very nice B&B in Monteverde. It has very comfortable beds (moreso than any other place we've stayed in CR) and the room, while a bit small, fit our family of 4 quite comfortably, thanks to the bunk-beds. The bathroom was large and well equipped. The breakfast was excellent standard Tico fare, with options of beans and rice, pancakes, eggs, etc. The area is gated and safe feeling, but the whole town seems pretty safe.
It is a bit hard to find, you have to turn earlier than you think, and travel down a street that feels like an alley... but you'll find it... there are a couple of signs and people seem to know it.
Jose's recommendations were pretty good. He recommended the Bonanza Soda, just two doors down, and it was so good we ended up not going anywhere else.
Andrés and Jose were really great! We look forward to staying there again! And we recommend this BnB to others!
The two guys were great, Jose is the one that you interact with the most and he was very nice. They were not too pushy about signing you up for tours, they left us alone about that. Overall the whole area is more than a bit pushy and even tho we understand the economics of it, its still boring to be constantly confronted with someone pushing something at you and constantly having to interact with them in one way or another.
My husband and I stayed only one night in Monteverde while we were passing through on our way to La Fortuna so we don't have a big sample size to comment on. However, Andres and Jose welcomed us immediately, provided us with the necessary information, and organized our activities that we wanted to do right away.
There isn't a whole lot to do outside of the tours (hikes & forest walks) so I wouldn't say one needs to stay a long time but it was enjoyable.
The room was cozy, clean and had everything we needed. There is an open room lounge area with a communal kitchen that you are allowed to use as you please, the only exception is for breakfast when staff comes in and takes your order and prepares it for you.
For those of you who are driving, there is parking for two small cars in the back or street parking out front.
The place is a bit hard to find, since it is tucked in behind town, but once we got our bearings, we didn't mind being out of the way since you are still within walking distance of the main street.
We did the night walk and the cloud forest hike in the morning for those who are interested, had the same guide (Donald) for both who was fantastic.
Thanks Andres and Jose! Pura Vida
Andres runs a very good business with his B&B in Monteverde. Everything works reliably (hot water, Internet, cable, etc) and breakfast is delicious... With multiple options! There is always a pot of hit coffee ready and Andres was always there to answer questions for us or to book us tours, guides, or anything else we wanted at no extra cost. I would definitely stay at his B&B again!
