Camino Verde B&B is a "Bed and Breakfast" style lodging opened in 2009 and located on the edge of Santa Elena. The B&B is laid out in the style of a family house and guests are encouraged to treat it as their home. The building was in fact once the owner\'s family home which gave inspiration to this ¨Tica House¨ designed hotel.
The B&B is situated a 5 minute walk from the town centre of Santa Elena, but is far enough away for it to be quiet and have more rural surroundings. This is the perfect option for those who crave the quiet side of the countryside but who require the amenities provided in a town.
Camino Verde B&B comprises private rooms which sleep 2 to 4 guests. Four of the rooms have shared bathroom facilities and the rest are en suite. For the rooms with private bathroom the prices are $25 for one person, $35 for a double, triple $45 and quadruple $55. Rooms with shared bathroom costs $15 for a single and $20 for a double. All prices include breakfast and tax.
Camino Verde backs onto Tina\'s Casitas and is run by the same people, which offers even cheaper private rooms and dorms ($6). There is a kitchen and a communal area here which B&B guests are welcome to use. Here there is a computer with internet connection, plus Wifi is available for guests with routers in the communal areas of both the B&B and Tina\'s Casitas.
Breakfast is free for all guests and is served from 6am until 9am. However the staff are very flexible and an earlier breakfast or packed-breakfast can be arranged if you have an early morning tour, just give them prior warning the evening before. There are three options for breakfast: the first is the typical Tico dish of eggs, rice and beans and toast; the second is fried or scrambled eggs with toast; the third is a fruit platter served with toast. Real coffee and orange juice is also available for every guest.
Check-out time is 10am but guests are welcome to use the communal areas all day if they have a late bus to catch. Camino Verde also offers a luggage storage service.
The friendly staff on reception are also experienced tour agents so can give out impartial advice on all the local companies. Furthermore they can share their countrywide knowledge of Costa Rica and organise any ongoing travel. Upon arrival at the hotel they give all guests a map of Monteverde and mark out all the different tours and activities that various companies offer in the area. This way guests learn about what is available to them and can suss out how long they might like to stay for. If required they can create "pick and mix" packages of various activities to suit each individual.
Please let us know if you need any help on getting to Monteverde! We can help you arrange a Shuttle or a Taxi Boat Taxi if your coming from Arenal, For example, the taxi boat taxi is $25 a person and Shuttle from San Jose to Monteverde is $39 p.p

Jose and Andres were beyond helpful upon our arrival to Monteverde. They assisted us in booking all of our tours and gave us tips about the town. The rooms were clean and neat. The breakfast was also delicious, it was a great way to start our days. When I return to Costa Rica (because I will) this will be the place I'll stay.
Thanks for your wonderful hospitality Jose and Andres!
Camino Verde's staff is helpful and accessible. The location is a bit off the beaten path in Santa Elena, but considering the town is so small, this is negligible. The room is pretty, the bed comfortable, and the bathroom has all the things you'd expect. The only drawback is that the walls are fairly thin, so it can get a little noisey with neighbors. Overall though the stay was enjoyable, breakfast was good, and the atmosphere is welcoming.
Camino Verde is the perfect place to stay. Not only is the property beautiful, with clean, comfortable rooms and breathtaking views, but the staff will make your visit to Monteverde a memorable one. I was pleasantly surprised by how much personal attention I received, as the staff was always warm and very helpful.
Many of the attractions/excursions you'll be interested in, such as coffee plantation tours, ziplining, the hanging bridges, rafting, rainforest hikes, etc., are all a good distance from downtown Santa Elena where Camino Verde is located. The bed and breakfast is all too happy to set everything up for you, including your transportation to these sites. I never had to worry about a single thing. Jose, one of the property managers, did a fantastic job at scheduling all my excursions.
In addition to helping set up excursions, the rooms are homey and clean, with spacious showers that have plenty of hot water. The included breakfast is delicious, and the ladies who make it for you every morning are very kind. Lastly, Camino Verde's central location makes it easy to get to nearby grocery stores and restaurants.
Overall, I feel like Camino Verde is an exceptional value, and I would certainly stay there again should I return to this area.
Expect a busy place full of backpackers and international atmosphere.
Good point is that you have access to a shared kitchen and dining area.
Room itself was really small, glad we stayed only night. If you are leaving before 6:30am do not count on breakfast.
Camino Verde is a lovely spot that I highly recommend to any Monteverde bound travelers. Despite our brief stay, Andres & Jose treated us like friends. They went out of their way to ensure that we were well taken care of; when a transportation company was late to pick us up, Camino called (without us asking) to find out the problem.
Our room was neither lavish nor enormous, but perfectly functional and clean. The view from the back of the main building was idyllic (as pictured). The space felt quiet and the other guests respectful. We plan to visit again.
Camino Verde was one of the nicer hostels I've stayed at. It was clean, not too rowdy and in a good location. Jose helped us alot with finding activities and booking transportation. The breakfast was also sooo good. They were in generous portions and way better than what most hostels offer. I had beans, rice and eggs every day but I saw people eating fruit and pancakes that looked great too.
Camino Verde is a nice a cozy place. It is located at the end of town on a dirt road, about 10 minutes walking from the center of town. The rooms and the whole place is very clean. Breakfast is hearty and coffee and tea is available all day long. However, it could be noisy if your room is close to the laundry room or facing the street.
Andres, Jose and Jose were very helpful and accommodating. Andres' mother was very friendly. She and I went for a walk and she show me the opposite side of town.
Nice place to stay in Monteverde/Santa Elena. Good location (10min walk to the town center) and very friendly staff! We had a great time. Altough we booked at Camino Verde, we were placed on the other side of the road in Hotel Atardecer, which was no problem. Only minor point is the building itself. The walls are made of wood with no to almost none insulation, so it could be a little noisy. One night there was some noise from our neighbors which Jose solved perfectly for us!
Only thing we would have liked was a safety deposit box on our room, to leave our passport and other valuables which we did not want to bring into the National Park. But this was something we already knew and which was no big problem.
A really good, clean and well located place. Kind and perfect welcome. Good services. Good breakfast. We really recommend this accommodation for quality vs price. We also really appreciated to eat at Sabor tico for dinner (a soda recommended by Jose). Thanks
The hosts were welcoming, friendly and very helpful with the local activities. The price was very reasonable and the rooms were clean. The walls were paper-thin so you can hear other guests but this hostel/hotel is a great place to meet other travelers!
