About this listing
Enjoy a sunlit mudbrick home with views! Close to Daylesford, Hepburn Springs and Castlemaine. Peaceful and beautiful..
Do you enjoy beautiful views, wood fires, peace and quiet, birdlife? Are you easy going with a small footprint and an appreciation of nature and animals?
I live on 10 acres on a "lifestyle property" near Victoria's famous mineral springs area of Daylesford/ Hepburn Springs. The house is mudbrick, with lots of light and large windows, modern kitchen and bathrooms, wood fire, open plan. It's 10 minutes away by car from Daylesford and Hepburn Springs art galleries, cafes, shops, restaurants, dayspas, mineral springs and walks. It's within the Gold fields region and close to regional towns Ballarat, Bendigo, Castlemaine. Lavandula Lavender Farm is virtually next door.
If you'd like to soak up the healing energies of the mineral springs area while enjoying a massage and touring this lovely area with a lot of gold mining history and other attractions, you'll need your own vehicle. The house is spacious and light. Your room is neat and small on the ground floor, with your own bathroom and toilet nearby, while my bedroom and bathroom are upstairs. You are welcome to make yourself comfortable, and share the kitchen, dining and living areas with me.
And if I'm free from working on my Lemon Myrtle Essentials organic bodycare or doing professional massage around town, you may book a massage from me right in the home! I combine therapeutic relaxation massage with traditional Chinese Tuina meridian massage to give you the best of both worlds and a massage which really hits the spot!
I hope you love animals (8 goats of Angora & various mixes). Plus lots of wild Corellas, Cockatoos and Galahs in the area. The goats live in adjoining paddocks a distance away. I keep a very clean and tidy home, with no animals allowed inside.
p/s Breakfast is "make your own" - usually yummy and healthy bread and jam and free range eggs available.
Please be comfortable and freely use the downstairs living spaces - lounge, kitchen, dining, bathroom.
Interaction with Guests
As my busiest work days are on the weekend, I will usually be out, but I will be around to greet you and have a chat about the best cafes, restaurants, etc. Usually you will have the house to yourself most of the day and evening on Saturday.
Other Things to Note
Simple breakfast foods are available (bread, jam, eggs, oats, tea) for you to help yourself. I will usually not be around for breakfast.
Moderate water use, general environmental awareness. Tidy and considerate.
Thank you Aileen for your hospitality, had a great relaxing weekend,
Great view over farmland from lounge room an the warmth from the fire was lovely. Will definitely stay again.
Aileen was a delightful person, providing a warm and comfortable accommodation. The tranquil surrounding gave us a source of enjoyment, watching the birdlife, rabbit family and even feeding the goats. Recommend it to anyone and even showed our friends whom we met in Daylesford. Thank you Aileen
The stay at Shepard's Flat with Aileen was just what we were looking for. It is quiet, peaceful and extremely relaxing, this was assisted by the beautiful surrounds, the trees and the fields which meant you could see the wonderful sunrises and sunsets and the bird life was amazing. Inside the mud brick home was an inviting and homely environment. Aileen's warm hospitality and knowledge of the area gave lots to do and see. The icing on the cake was Aileen's expertise in health and well being, she is a massage therapist which we chose to take advantage of, she also has her own range of organic lemon myrtle creams which we sampled and used on our stay. So it was a wonderful three days, reasonably priced and l am sure we will go back again.
When we arrived, the room was heated and she had prewarmed the bed with the electric blanket. It was great to hop into a warm bed on a cold night. Everything was nice and clean. The house sits on a big block of land with friendly and hungry goats and alpacas. It is very peaceful. It is also in a convenient location, just a short drive to town.
Aileen was the perfect host. She encouraged us to to utilise the living space. Aileen is a great masseuse. Which was a huge plus! She was able to find time out of her busy schedule to fit me in for an hours massage. I would definitely stay at Aileen's if I were to go back again.
The house is in a great location Aileen made us feel very welcome, which dispensed quickly with the initial awkwardness that comes with being in another persons home. We had a great time. Highly recommended.
Honestly couldn't fault the experience my partner & I had staying 2 nights at Aileen's. She was the most gracious host, greeting us when we arrived, offering suggestions for places to eat & things to do. She ensured we had everything we needed then, disappeared. . . checking in a few times via text to make sure we had everything we needed.
She was an absolute angel, going above & beyond many times to exceed our expectations. It was the little details that really made our stay a delight- slipping under the covers of a pre warmed bed, arriving to a wood fire burning, heated bed room & warm towels on a heated towel rack in winter, the warm glow of salt lamps and a house that always smelled amazing (yet not overpowering).
This place is a gem & very reasonably priced.
Aileen is such a wonderful human! My friend and I felt instantly warm and invited into her stunning home as soon as we got there. She gave us so many amazing tips for the area- do as she says because the tips she gave us were absolutely spot on. The book shop cafe is incredible! Don't hesitate to visit this magical place. Thank you so much Aileen, I hope that we can stay in touch in the future!
