Tranquil setting Daylesford region

House - Private room · Ayreshire Dr, Shepherds Flat, VIC 3461, Australia

The Space

Do you enjoy beautiful views, wood fires, peace and quiet, birdlife? Are you easy going with a small footprint and an appreciation of nature and animals?

I live on 10 acres on a "lifestyle property" near Victoria's famous mineral springs area of Daylesford/ Hepburn Springs. The house is mudbrick, with lots of light and large windows, modern kitchen and bathrooms, wood fire, open plan. It's 10 minutes away by car from Daylesford and Hepburn Springs art galleries, cafes, shops, restaurants, dayspas, mineral springs and walks. It's within the Gold fields region and close to regional towns Ballarat, Bendigo, Castlemaine. Lavandula Lavender Farm is virtually next door.

If you'd like to soak up the healing energies of the mineral springs area while enjoying a massage and touring this lovely area with a lot of gold mining history and other attractions, you'll need your own vehicle. The house is spacious and light. Your room is neat and small on the ground floor, with your own bathroom and toilet nearby, while my bedroom and bathroom are upstairs. You are welcome to make yourself comfortable, and share the kitchen, dining and living areas with me.

And if I'm free from working on my Lemon Myrtle Essentials organic bodycare range ((website hidden)) or doing professional massage around town, you may book a massage from me right in the home! I combine therapeutic relaxation massage with traditional Chinese Tuina meridian massage to give you the best of both worlds and a massage which really hits the spot!

I hope you love animals (2 gorgeous Maremmas - Italian sheepdogs, and 8 goats of Angora & various mixes). Plus lots of wild Corellas, Cockatoos and Galahs in the area. The goats live in adjoining paddocks a distance away, and the dogs live outside and are never allowed indoors. I keep a very clean and tidy home.

p/s Breakfast is "make your own" - usually yummy and healthy bread and jam and free range eggs available.

  • Aileen's place is just astonishing! We realised it in the morning when we woke up and we could see the hills, the blue sky and the goats from the living room while having our healthy breakie. The best thing however was to chat with Aileen, an amazing inspiring corporate refugee that, tired about the stressful corporate life, decided few years ago to move to the country side, build her house, set up her own activity and enjoy a simple life! A relaxing massage complemented the calm and the warm atmosphere of the house. Ah, and don't forget to sit outside in the night where you can admire the milky way while the wind will blow away all your thoughts. Look forward to stay at her place again soon!

  • Aileen is a wonderful host. Super relaxed/easy going and ever so accommodating! Great to talk to and very wise :) She was kind enough to provide breakfast things for us and had a lot of great suggestions for things to do around the area. House is so peaceful and amazing. I could go on but I'll just say Aileen's place is the perfect getaway :) Would book again in a heart beat. Thank you!

  • Aileen is the perfect host. Very friendly, kind and helpful. Lovely home, clean, comfortable and very relaxing environment. Beautiful country location. This all ensured that we had a lovely weekend away. We would highly recommend Aileen's B & B.

Thanks, Alieen for making our weekend away so enjoyable.

  • Staying with Aileen at her wonderful property just outside Daylesford was a fantastic experience for a couple of days in November.

Nothing was too much trouble for Aileen from beginning to end and she made me (Phil) very welcome throughout the entire stay. Visiting the area for a wedding, it was a real pleasure to stay this wonderfully relaxing property. As an Australian living now in New York, staying at Aileen's was a true escape form city living to a gorgeous rural setting.

Aileen's mud-brick place is large, comfortable and very homely. This is only made so much more the case by Aileen, who catered to every need like it was no trouble at all. From directions, maps and travel tips in the areas right through to meals being graciously provided and best of all - an amazing massage from her expert hands - it was a truly great visit!

I was fortunate to be able to buy some of Aileen's fantastic range of Lemon Myrtle products and these will make lovely gifts. Aileen's entire place is surrounded by this lovely fragrance!

I would return to Aileen's tranquil experience in a heartbeat and next time I hope to come back with Bronwyn so she can enjoy it all too. We hope to see Aileen at a our own AirBNB property in New York soon!

  • After great directions, Aileen greeted us with a delicious (unexpected) veggie soup - very welcome on a cold night, as was the fire that kept going during the whole visit.
We were made to feel very welcome in her beautiful space, playing with the dogs, admiring the bird and feeding the goats.
Great kitchen setup with a host of cookbooks, comfy living space and cosy private room with a lovely bath.
Views were great and we felt very close to the land.

  • I stayed with Aileen with my girlfriend for 2 nights. We already want to go back! Her lovely mud brick house is on lots of land and a short drive from Hepburn and Daylesford. We feel really lucky to have met Aileen and spent some time with her... she was such an amazing host. So interesting, open and generous.
The area itself is great, we did plenty of walks in the few days we were there.

  • Aileen was a fantastic host. She's a really lovely person (very calm) and has a lovely property on 10 acres - the modern mud brick house has a lovely feel and the views over the fields are fantastic, complete with friendly goats and her 2 big friendly dogs. Aileen made us feel really at home, made us cups of lovely lemon myrtle tea, plus muesli & bread/butter/jam for breakfast (which isn't supposed to be included), gave us lots of info on things to see and do and was really friendly yet gave us our own space - even though we were sharing the living area of the house. We felt really at home. It's a lovely area and so much to do there, but it was really tempting to just laze around on the verandah in the sun & read or look at the view. Perfect! We'll definitely go back again to Aileen's if she'll have us! She also offers a fantastic massage & I bought lots of her Lemon Myrtle organic products.

  • Really nice house that Aileen has, so relaxing, did not want to leave, was just perfect. Thanks for sharing your amazing house with us Aileen and made us feel so welcome.

  • Staying with Aileen was simply incredible. Upon arrival we were greeted as friends and welcomed warmly onto her beautiful property. Nothing was too much trouble for her, no question too silly! She was incredibly generous with her house (encouraging us to make it feel like home and share it with her). Breakfast was a treat with fresh local bread, eggs and fruit. Perhaps the best part of all was getting to stay with Aileen - she is a warm, engaging, funny and loving host. (We already miss her!) So, in sum, it is the perfect place to stay to relax and read, visit Lavendula Lavender farm (3kms down the road) or have fun in Daylesford (7kms away). Run don't walk to book your next stay here! Love Emma and Sam.

  • Aileen was a wonderful host, she was very welcoming, nice and generous. She made us feel at home in her wonderful property with nice big windows in a relaxing setting. Aileen has extensive knowledge of Daylesford and advised us on many hidden treasures that we would have not known of ourselves. We highly recommend staying at Aileen's and enjoying some relaxing time out in the country and exploring the lovely town of Daylesford.
