Beautiful place to relax.

I ask that any computer usage be limited to not downloading and going to various inappropriate sites. Cook as you like, clean up after yourself, and if you empty something, refill it. I can be talked into yummy food creation, just ask!
Interaction with Guests
To their liking. I have a studio above my barn, and can disappear completely should whole house privacy be needed. I am very friendly and would love any piano players to engage the house in song! Communication is key I have found. I can "serve" the guests should they require it, offering suggestions on the area, at an additional charge.
I love that I can walk or run a 1.5 mile circle, and hop in the creek on my way back! I also love that when you stay with me, you can "meet your meal." I use meat, eggs, milk, veggies and cheese from local producers, compost all leftover food, and always stop to see Esther the local Amish woman who makes and sells the breads I use for French Toast. She also makes a yummy blueberry pie.
Yes we have transportation. It's called your feet. We are 20 minutes from any real life (WalMart), but you can get "quickie" things, gas and cash at the store down the hill. If a cow gets out of her pen, I guess you could saddle her up and ride her "into town?"
Other Things to Note
I make every effort to make my home a "destination location." I enjoy cooking and serving at an extra charge. I compost, grow my own herbs, lemon balm, American and German Oregano, Parsley, Cilantro, Basil, and Dill, and raise my own chickens for eggs. As one guest stated, "It's not the Taj Mahal," but it's my home and I'd love the opportunity to share it with you!
Respectfully and communicative. Please smoke outside. Please don't take food into rooms, in the sticks, critters don't like the cold and food draws them in. BYOB and drink responsibly.
I had a terrific stay at The House on High Street. Melissa had a few guests staying at the same time (Hall of Fame weekend) and she organized a welcome barbecue so that we could all get to know each other. We were all open, adventurous types so conversation was easy. My room was comfortable and thoughtfully appointed. Coffee was available most mornings and one day unexpectedly, Melissa made eggs for everyone. Very tasty! Located about 30 minutes from Cooperstown, the drive through the countryside was a pleasure each morning and night. It gave me a break from all the baseball and reminded me that this was my vacation too.
Melissa herself though was the highlight. She 'adopted' my son and I for the week, attending baseball games at the Cooperstown Dream Park when she could to support him. She played baseball and basketball with him that first night when he stayed with me which he really enjoyed. Throughout the week, she offered recommendations to help me make the most of my stay in the area and even loaned me a power strip when she heard that we were all having a terrible time keeping our phones charged at the park. All of the parents on our team were so appreciative of her thoughtfulness.
Staying with Melissa met all of my expectations for a first Airbnb experience. A clean, comfortable room was provided that gave me a place to get away each night. Melissa and I talked about some improvements that can be made to the bathroom, and she was on it before I had even left. In the end, booking with Airbnb is about the people you meet. I hope that my next Airbnb experience lives up to this one.
It was a joy to meet Melissa after a very long day driving to an area foreign to us. She made us feel relaxed as soon as we walked into her house and we enjoyed a delicious homemade spaghetti supper that she prepared for us. After we told her about our unsuccessful venture coming all the way from Ormstown, Quebec to find a Morgan horse at a local horse farm, she made some calls and came with us to see an older gentleman who had some wonderful Morgan horses for sale. We had a very enjoyable evening with the gentleman and his Morgans, and got to know a little about the beautiful area her house is located in. It was a real treat to see the golden greens of the little valleys below the wooded hills in the early dusk. After a restful and comfortable night, we left knowing that we have found a great place to stay on our next visit. This is what airbnb is all about. Had we stayed at a stale hotel or motel along a highway we would have returned home disappointed and discouraged with our trip, and would probably never have returned to the area. Instead we had a fantastic time “staying like a local” in Melissa’s house and we look forward to staying at her house again.
I arrived at Melissa's home Saturday August 3rd, 2013 with three of my riding partners and stayed for one night as part of a weekend motorcycle tour of upstate NY. Melissa responded to all emails, phone calls and text messages promtly. The home is easy to find and located near two dream parks. The home itself has six beds and two couches and space for additional sleeping bags etc. We arrived in the evening and Melissa had already started cooking our first of two meals. We parked all four of bikes in the barn. We ate diner outside; local steak on the grill, local bread, corn, salad, local pie made fresh. The steak was exceptional delicious! Hot water for showering plus towels. Melissa retired to her studio above the shed/barn and we had the place to ourselves for the evening. Next morning I ventured downstairs from the bedroom and found Melissa was hard working on the breakfast meal; french toast, coffee, eggs anyway you like with anything you like. Melissa told me speficially that providing quality customer service to us was of importance to her. I can say the care we received was very good. Her home is equiped with wifi, lodgin and meal rates reasonable. What more do you want? Thanks again Melissa see you again sometime.
