My cottage is suitable for people that want to enjoy the peace and quite of the country side but not completely isolated as it is quite close to the picturesque villages of Schull and Ballydehob.
kitchen and living space are open plan with three bedrooms adjacent.
My cottage is unique because it has panoramic views of all of roaring water bay which includes the islands of Cape Clear, Sherkin, Castle and Horse island to name a few. it also gives guests the unique view of the atlantic ocean in its calmest and its wildest days with huge waves breaking over the fastnet rock to the western end of Cape Clear. This cottage comfortably fits 6 people can accommodate more if needs be.
Guests will have access to all of the cottage and the large garden outside but also I live and work on my farm which surrounds the cottage guests can come and help out with the milking and any other work they may feel they would like to do to make there stay more enjoyable. local amenities are quite close the old Ballydehob Schull walk trail is only 5 minutes walk from the cottage which will take guest back to the late 18th century when it was then used for horse drawn carriages and people walking to and from the towns. The trail also takes you to Derreennatra pier which is lovely for a swim and take photo of while sitting up the large Monteray pine tree which is over a 170 years old..
Interaction with Guests
Yes I would love to get to know my guests either through working with on the farm or socialising in the local pub. But this is entirely up to my guests if they want to take a rest and completely switch off from the outside world that is there choice. I will be around as much as possible I live just down the road and will be tending to animals up and around the cottage most days.
We had a very nice time in Michael's cottage.
The house is very comfortable with an amazing view on the bay.
I hope I'll have the opportunity to come back sometime.
We could not have been happier with our stay at Michael's house. The house itself and the view were gorgeous, and Michael was a pleasure to work with. I would love to stay here again sometime!
Michael and Peter the dog were very welcoming. The information he gave us was very helpful.
The house is very well equipped, cosy and pet friendly. We wanted for nothing.
The location and views are fantastic. There are great walking trails next to the house. The town of Schull is only 7 mins by car, but we walked most of the time.
We will definitely be returning to Corr an Droma.
Absolutely amazing time! We got to decorate a tree and enjoy the relaxed irish countryside. It was perfect.
Michael's place was so much more than we expected! Michael kept in contact with us throughout the planning of our trip and provided many different suggestions on how to make our traveling easier. He picked us up in Schull so we didn't have to navigate to his house in the dark and the rain. When we arrived at the house, he walked us through everything we needed to know and had started a fire for us. :) after a long 30-40 hours of traveling, it was such a relief to come into such a warm, cozy, and welcoming house. We slept peacefully and adventured into Schull our second day there. Michael provided references for taxi services and also good places to eat. The walk to Schull took us about 45 minutes to an hour, which isn't bad at all! Michael met us later that night for drinks in the local pubs which definitely turned out to be one of our favorite parts of our stay. He welcomed is to come milk his cows where we also met his dog Peter. Later that day, his family was so welcoming when I became ill on the walk back from the pier. Each of us definitely plan on coming back and we so wish it could be sooner! Michael is such a warm and welcoming host and was willing to go out of his way to be as helpful as possible for us. I would suggest his place for anyone who wants to wake up to a breathtaking view of the ocean each day, like the quietness of the countryside, and enjoys doing things at their own pace. :) can't wait to come back!!
We were 4 friends and Micheal has welcomed us in the best way. The house was lovely, clean and cosy, with a beautiful view of the main islands. Micheal was so kind to let us milk his cows, give us some precious advices and the opportunities to have a great time. Thank you again, we wish you a very happy christmas
There are not enough superlatives to describe Michael’s cottage. It is located in an area of stunning natural beauty. The cottage is spacious, with everything that you could require and has amazing views from just about every window – the biggest drawcard being the ever changing Roaring Water Bay. I found it an easy drive from the cottage to Kinsale, Cork City and the Beara Peninsula as well as other towns along the Wild Atlantic Way. The walks surrounding the cottage are lovely even when it is raining and encompass other farms, little stone bridges, streams and some ruins as well as the shoreline. Michael is an engaging and thoughtful host to whom nothing is too much trouble. He has a vast knowledge of the local area and provides great recommendations of where to eat etc. Having stayed in December and loved it, I would highly recommend staying at Michael’s cottage.
