Corr an Droma

House - Entire home/apt · Schull, Cork Derreennatra, Ireland

My cottage is suitable for people that want to enjoy the peace and quite of the country side but not completely isolated as it is quite close to the picturesque villages of Schull and Ballydehob.

kitchen and living space are open plan with three bedrooms adjacent.

The Space

My cottage is unique because it has panoramic views of all of roaring water bay which includes the islands of Cape Clear, Sherkin, Castle and Horse island to name a few. it also gives guests the unique view of the atlantic ocean in its calmest and its wildest days with huge waves breaking over the fastnet rock to the western end of Cape Clear. This cottage comfortably fits 6 people can accommodate more if needs be.

Guest Access

Guests will have access to all of the cottage and the large garden outside but also I live and work on my farm which surrounds the cottage guests can come and help out with the milking and any other work they may feel they would like to do to make there stay more enjoyable. local amenities are quite close the old Ballydehob Schull walk trail is only 5 minutes walk from the cottage which will take guest back to the late 18th century when it was then used for horse drawn carriages and people walking to and from the towns. The trail also takes you to Derreennatra pier which is lovely for a swim and take photo of while sitting up the large Monteray pine tree which is over a 170 years old..

Interaction with Guests

Yes I would love to get to know my guests either through working with on the farm or socialising in the local pub. But this is entirely up to my guests if they want to take a rest and completely switch off from the outside world that is there choice. I will be around as much as possible I live just down the road and will be tending to animals up and around the cottage most days.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • I had a wonderful stay at Corr An Droma. Michael was so good and accommodating, He drove me around to show me the sweet town of Schull and where I could walk. I walked over 5 miles to town and back. The view is amazing of the sea and clouds and sky. Changing all the time. The house is suitable for a crowd or just one person. Cozy and very equipped for all the needs. Kitchen, washing etc. Michael thought of everything and was available to answer any questions. His mom is a sweetheart too. Staying here was just what I needed to recuperate from a trip around Ireland. Thanks so much for everything!

  • We were blown away by Corr An Droma!! Such a beautiful home and an absolutely incredible view! Michael was such a warm and kind host. He even drove out and waited for us to arrive just to be able to greet us and answer any questions we may have. The home was well prepared with thoughtfulness that greatly blessed our visit. And the home is huge! Really we just do not have enough good things to say about Corr an Droma and Michael. HIGHLY recommend staying here!

  • Corr an Droma is a beautiful house and Michael was very friendly, he even came into the nearest village at 11pm to give us the keys and show us to the house. The views are incredible and the countryside is stunning. The house is very well equipped with a nice kitchen, comfortable beds, a wood and peat burning stove, WiFi, a comfortable couch and a TV. We had a great relaxing stay and I would recommend this house to anyone who wants to see beautiful scenery and have a nice quiet time in the Irish countryside.

  • Wow! This was the best part of our visit to Ireland! Michael was waiting for us with a fire burning in the woodstove when we arrived at 10 PM! He is just down the lane from the 'cabin' (4 bedroom house!!!) and was willing to help immediately with any issues we had. We were lucky enough to be able to visit his dairy farm and play around on the tractor (I think he calls it 'working') and he was gracious enough to show us around the farm for part of the afternoon. A very friendly and generous guy!
The 'cabin' is a house with an upstairs bathroom and two bedrooms along with a downstairs master bedroom with en-suite and a den with a futon (in case a 4th bed is needed!). The view from the hill is beautiful; rolling green hills spilling into the ocean below! The night sky is breathtaking (when the clouds have cleared) and the air is fresh. Loved it! We will be back!!!
