NOTE:
Welcome! Please take the time to read all the information below to make sure that the natural, Paramin Sky experience is what you are looking for. Paramin roads, recommended route, insects, electricity, visitor policy and more are described below.
INSECTS/WILD LIFE
We are in the heart of a rain forest and thus, during your stay it is possible to encounter wild life (mainly insects, lizards and frogs) on the garage level or in the veranda. We have done our best to close-off the studio area so that bugs cannot enter however tiny insects do get in from time to time. Shutting the louvres and using the AC at night prevents most insects. We have installed ceiling fans and used black ceilings as a deterrent to bugs in the veranda area.
If you do not wish to encounter any insects whatsoever we would encourage you to consider a space outside the Paramin forested area.
LOCATION
Paramin Sky Studio is located along the Fond Pois Doux road/Northern Range ridge line. On one side it overlooks the Maraval valley, straight to Port of Spain. On the other side it stands above a lush rainforest, Saut D'eau island and the Caribbean Sea. From the rooftop, it is possible to see the Tobago ferry depart Port of Spain on one side, and re-emerge at Saut D'eau island on the other side.
7 minutes to La Vigie lookout
15 minutes to Maracas Bay
33 minutes to Port of Spain
60 minutes to Piarco International Airport
GETTING HERE (Very important)
Paramin Sky can be easily accessed via the Fond Pois Doux road which branches off of the North Coast road (aka the road heading to Maracas beach)
Google Maps and Waze can recommend that you take the route through Paramin village. Please do not take this route unless you are familiar with it. This route is steep and has sharp turns.
The recommended route, via the North Coast road, is accessible to any working vehicle. For reference, our team accesses Paramin Sky regularly using a Toyota Aqua
WIFI AND CELL RECEPTION
Due to our location, we have a stronger WIFI connection than most other parts of Paramin. Our internet satellite is located on our rooftop and has direct line of sight to the signal station in Fort George. The WIFI is fast enough for remote work/zoom meetings and HD streaming.
While in the studio, Digicel has full reception (data and voice) and Bmobile has limited voice access. Bmobile can be accessed from the garage level. Alternatively you can use the WiFi for calls.
STRUCTURE
The entire building is called Paramin Sky and consists of 4 floors. The ground floor is called Paramin Sky Studio. You have exclusive access to the entire ground floor (private studio and veranda) and a secure, gated parking spot in the garage.
Paramin Sky Studio is completely private and overlooks hundreds of acres of untouched rainforest. While inside, clothing is optional.
LAYOUT
The studio has an open floor plan to maximise openness and connection with couples. The space was designed so that each area in the studio (bathroom, book nook, kitchenette, bed, accent chair, dining area, and veranda) has unrestricted views of the rainforest and Caribbean Sea.
DESIGN ELEMENTS AND COMFORT
The ceiling is 11 ft high to create a sense of spaciousness. Natural materials were used throughout to enhance the luxurious feel of the space: local-teak floors, kitchen countertop and furniture, Guyanese greenheart railings and framing of the glass, modern and unique concrete walls and ceilings. Track lighting was used throughout the space to create the feeling of being in an art gallery.
The studio is fully air-conditioned. We recommend opening the louvres during the day to maximise the fresh air from Paramin. At night the louvres can be closed and the AC used in order to minimise access of insects.
