We are on a sunny and quiet canal in the heart of Amsterdam, close to Centraal Station, Anne Frank House, The Jordaan and the Canals. Your space is totally private with your own bathroom, bedroom, captain's room and wheel house. The space is centrally heated and double glazed for chilly days. You also have access to outside space on our pier where you can relax into the evening on warm summer nights.

The space
WE ARE TAKING ADDITIONAL PRECAUTIONS TO REDUCE THE RISK OF SPREADING THE CORONAVIRUS.
Jake and I have taken over cleaning duties in order to ensure that no one else enters the space other than our guests.
The check-in and check-out procedure is contact free. We provide a lock box with a code and a brochure with instructions inside the steering cabin. We always maintain a 1,5 meter (6 feet) distance from our guests as do our neighbours.
Additional cleaning precautions:
We now allow for a period of 2 days in between new guest arrivals and do not permit any early check-ins or late check-outs. This also allows for extra time for us to disinfect the space completely.
Departing guests are asked to open all windows and doors, to allow the accommodation to air.
We start by first cleaning all surfaces and spots often touched, such as bedside tables, light switches, handrails and appliances etc. After that a thorough cleaning of the entire space is performed using ecologically safe cleaners.
Linen is professionally laundered at 60 degrees Celsius or more.
Cleaning products are provided at request in case guests would like to personally perform additional cleaning while staying on the boat.

Your space is in a private section of our houseboat, with private entrance and access to our private pier (shared with our neighbours). This B&B portion of our ship is located closest to the quay and is separate from the main cabin (where we live). It features central heating, double glazed windows for extra insulation, operable windows, 3 rooms, each on its own level; the Wheel House with views out onto the water, the Captain's Room, and sweet cosy bedroom with a comfortable two-person bed. Do be aware that the ceiling height is comfortable for those with a maximum height of 6ft 2 inches tall. You will have to duck your head in places! The newly built bathroom features a natural stone sink, and the shower has a porthole window with a great view of the canal. Towels, extra blankets hairdryer, shampoo and bath gel are all provided!

Our charming and cosy houseboat is an authentic Haagenaar ship built in 1900, originally used to carry salt throughout Holland and Europe. It now sits on a picturesque, sunny and quiet canal in the center of Amsterdam, just a 5 minute walk from the beautiful historic canal district, the Jordaan neighbourhood, Haarlemmerbuurt, the 9 Streets (great shopping) and Central Station with trams, buses and the NS Train.

The bathroom features a natural stone sink, and the shower has a porthole window with a great view out onto the water. It also features a large private (shared with our lovely neighbours) pier decorated with flowers, plants and herbs, a Weber grill and seating made from recycled hardwood.

Only a few moments away walking or by bike from 2 of the best bio-organic markets in Amsterdam, It's a culinary dream. It is also walking distance to several excellent restaurants including Marius, Pikoteo, Bikkers aan de Werf as well as a few local bars and café's such as Westerdok Cafe, Blaauwhooft, De Gouden Reael and many more in the nearby Jordaan neighbourbood. See our Guidbook section for more recommendations!

Also included are:

- A couple of Dutch beers
- Wireless high-speed internet (200/20 Mbps) suitable for high-demand use
- Coffee Press and Water Boiler for Tea
- Espresso / Coffee and specialty Teas
- Dutch stroopwafels
- Small bluetooth speaker
- Small Refrigerator
- Hairdryer

We are lucky to live in one of Amsterdam's nicest neighbourhoods. Our canal is wide and quiet even though it's right in the city centre. We are just a 5 minute walk to great markets, shops, cafes and restaurants. After a day of sight seeing and enjoying all that Amsterdam has to offer, it's a great place to come home to and relax while you look out onto the water.

Guest access
You are welcome to enjoy the (sunny in the summer) seating on the pier which we share with our neighbour! If you want to use the Weber grill, just let us know!

Other things to note
Although we live in the other part of the ship, it's all very private! e
Acoustic insulation between the two parts ensure that you won't hear us and vice versa. ; )

Location

Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands

Our nieghbourhood is a a stone's throw away from the best farmers markets, shops, bars and restaurants, but here it is quiet and relaxing and mostly residential. A great mix of new and historic, artists and creatives and even a great beer joint just a few houses down.

We are a Dutch couple (I am originally American) who love to travel and meet people, so having a b&b is a great way to bring the world closer to us! We were introduced to each other on a hot summer's day at a beach party at Blijburg by Jake's dog Max (who was on the planet for over 14 years) Life was never the same. We now have Akasha, (or should I say she has us!) a very pretty young dog rescued from the woods in southern Italy by a couple on holiday. Living on the water has always been a dream for us, and 10 years ago we made it a reality. We are so lucky to have the best neighbours and a great local community of caring people around us. Cooking for friends and practicing yoga are dear to my heart as well as my appreciation for Dutch art and design. Jake has his own interactive design agency in town and cycles to work. I am currently working on two MAs at the University of Amsterdam, one in philosophy, the other in English Literature and Culture.

During your stay
In general we have some interaction with our guests and are here to check you in. We like to give our guests the space they need and endeavour to be as least intrusive as possible. That being said, if guests have questions or need anything, we are only a text or a knock on the hatch away and are happy to be of help.
