The Space

Welcome to Atlanta!!!

This home is located on the edge of one of Atlanta's oldest intown neighborhoods, Grant Park, which along with one other neighborhood, contains the largest remaining area of Victorian architecture in Atlanta. Take a stroll down Woodward Ave. and find homes dating back to 1882 and the first decades of the 20th century. There are large two-story mansions and more modest two-story, modified Queen Anne houses as well as shot-gun houses.

This house has 5 bedrooms that are all ensuite, one with just a half bath. Each bedroom has king sized beds which can be separated for double occupancy. 3 bedrooms are located upstairs with a deck that has a city view of several downtown buildings.

Perfect for large groups such as wedding parties, convention teams, Sweet 16 Slumber parties (special packages available) and family groups since it has an open concept living space with furniture that can be easily rearranged.

It is .5 mile from:

-Turner Field (where the Atlanta Braves play)
-Downtown Atlanta, Underground Atlanta, and Five Points
-The King Center, etc.
-Grant Park
-Zoo Atlanta
-Cyclorama(featuring the Battle of Atlanta during the Civil War)
-Historic Oakland Cemetery

1.5 miles away from the following:

-Phillip's Arena
-The Georgia World Congress Center
-Centennial Olympic Park
-Georgia Aquarium
-CNN Center
-World of Coca-Cola
-Skyview Atlanta Ferris Wheel
-The Georgia Dome

As well as the following great places within 5 MINUTES:
-The Tabernacle
-Little Five Points (Voted one of the hippest places in America),
-Piedmont Park

The house is also less than 5 MINUTES from Georgia State University, Georgia Tech and the Atlanta University Center.

  • Overall we truly enjoyed our stay at Melissa's place. There were nine of us who traveled and stayed at the house: 6 adults and three children under 10 years old. We loved the fact that we could send a customization request to Melissa in advance regarding room or items to make our trip at ease and comfortable. From the moment we walked in to the house, we stated that the pictures do not do the place justice. The place was much bigger than we expected, plenty of room to lounge, entertain each other and rest without getting in each other's space. The house was very clean and we did not expect for small things such as body wash and shampoo to be supplied, had we forgotten some at home.

The kitchen was fairly large and stocked with utensils and supplies, My mother, grandmother and I was able to cook and prepare meals without working over each other.

Anytime we needed something, had a question or comment Melissa and her husband was there to assist in any way. We left the trip feeling overall satisfied with out stay within the home.

We would truly recommend Melissa and her listings.

  • My colleagues and I were in Atlanta for a conference.

Melissa and Walter are the epitome of southern hospitality. Frankly, the convention center should be taking lessons from them! They picked us up at the airport with smiles and lots of great info.

The neighborhood was very quiet, located near a church, school and tennis courts. Upon arrival, the house was cooled (it was muggy that day), clean and as pictured. The pictures do not really show how large the place is. The living room is extremely comfortable and the large sturdy dining room table hosted a couple of wonderful dinner parties. Rooms had good quality linens and towels. Wi-fi and air conditioning worked great. Street parking was always available.

If you are going to the convention center, I highly recommend you use their car service. Traffic into the convention center is horrible and parking can be a long way off from where you need to be. Way, way better and friendlier than any cab! Last minute requests were never a problem - this is was very much appreciated.

Next time I'm in Atlanta, I'll be back!

  • We came to Atlanta for a business trip and stayed in the house with colleagues. The house was spaceous enough for everyone to go their own way but at the same time offered space in kitchen and living room for common activities. Our daughter had plenty of room to run around and there is also a playground just across the street.

Melissa was always available for questions and requests. We got a complimentary diaper dash upon arrival. To stay in her house was so much better than to stay in a hotel. We had a great time!

ABOUT MY FAMILY: This was our first experience with Airbnb. My family and I (3 couples and 2 children) stayed in this wonderful home for 3 nights during the Memorial Day Weekend. However, we are avid travelers having been to over 20 different countries in the last 12 years, staying in B&Bs or hotels for 7 to 30 days at a time. The reason for writing such a great review is my family loved their experience and requested I write it.

OVERVIEW OF THE HOUSE: It is well -furnished and was spacious enough to allow all 8 of us to relax and enjoy our vacation. It is located on a safe and quiet street. I was fortunate enough to be the first one to check in and I rewarded myself by choosing the largest bedroom. It is the first bedroom you come to upstairs. It is a huge suite, complete with roomy closets and a full bathroom with a spa bathtub. Remember to indicate to Melissa which bedrooms should have king beds or twin beds. We forgot, and the couples ended sleeping in the twin beds spoon style:)).

THE ENTERTAINMENT VALUE: This house is perfect for entertaining, having a small birthday party or a barbecue. The fenced back yard has both a gas and charcoal grill. One day we had a barbecue and the kitchen was large enough to effortlessly accommodate 4 people preparing different dishes. At the end of the street, there was a nice park with tennis court, basketball park and softball field where the kids played. Less than 1.5 miles from the house was Olympic Park and Turner Baseball Field. At the end of the night when sightseeing was done, we spent time on the upstairs back patio enjoying the view of the Atlanta skyline.

WHY THIS RENTAL IS WORTH IT: Most of the homes on Airbnb base their rental costs on the number of people occupying the home. This means the cost for reserving an entire apartment, or home increases with each additional person. My family chose to reserve this home because Melissa charges one price - $275, whether there are 1 or 10 individuals. Cleaning fees are optional and can be avoided if you take the time to put all used linens and towels in a laundry bag, and lightly clean up after yourself. Consider this, if you and a friend split the cost of the house ($137.50 each); it still ends up being less expensive than some of the seedy hotels in downtown Atlanta which can easily cost $140 per room. The cost each couple contributed for our rental was $101 per night (included Airbnb fees).

In addition, you can rent their luxury SUV, a 2012 Nissan Armada for $70. The same vehicle rented at the airport would be at least $85.

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR: Take my family’s advice, stop looking at other rentals and book this house now!

  • A group of five traveling for graduations and fun found Melissa's Grant Park Home to be "THE BEST" home away from home. Close to expressways and the city, the ease of getting around made our stay a pleasure.
The home had every amenity imaginable. We loved the space and all of the master bedrooms. The beds were AWESOME! The comfortable furniture, seating on the front porch as well as the wonderful space in the backyardwhere grilling was possible made it a vacation haven.
Melissa was so gracious in changing our stay from her 3 bedroom to her 5 bedroom house. She responded QUICKLY when I would use the AIRBNB site or her mobile number.
Thank you Melissa for intrusting your home to us and making traveling/vacation so much more enjoyable.

  • The house was huge and having all the single beds really worked out for our large group. There was a nice park across the street and some cool coffee shops and restaurants within walking distance. Overall was really pleased with our stay!

I'm a high school History teacher at the only high school in Smyrna, Georgia, which also happens to be the school that my teenage son attends. In addition to being a teacher and a mom, I'm also a wife. So obviously, I'm always busy. I absolutely love going to festivals! I also love anything that has to do with history! My husband and I have a goal to start an organization that will focus on assisting inner city youth. Too often, this demographic is falsely incarcerated, and they do not have access to proper legal assistance. Our desire is to start a coalition of professionals who will dedicate pro bono their services to this underrepresented population.
