Paper Moon is a lovely log cabin nestled among oaks and elms in the quiet countryside, just 1.5 miles from downtown Wimberley. You’ll cross a scenic low water crossing over Pierce Creek, a wet-weather creek that runs through the front of the property, as you drive in. This spacious cabin was lovingly hand-built by a local Wimberley couple in 1985, and has been recently renovated by the current owners while retaining its rustic charm.

The space
Paper Moon is an ideal spot for family and friend gatherings, but also perfect for a romantic couple’s retreat. You can make the short drive into town for shopping and dining, or stay at the cabin and soak up the nature. Watch the deer graze from the porch, have a family bbq on the spacious covered deck, enjoy an evening in the hot tub and around the fire pit, or snuggle up inside by the wood burning stove.

At Paper Moon you get that vintage log home charm, but with amenities of modern life. The house has two baths, two bedrooms (king bed; queen bed), and a semi-private loft bedroom (queen bed). The living area with a wood burning stove, hot tub, abundant outdoor seating, fire pit, bbq grill, and large covered deck all provide the perfect space for your vacation!

We are eco-friendly! We offer full recycling, use environmentally friendly soaps, cleaners & detergents, provide eco-friendly paper products, offer filtered water from a reverse-osmosis system (no bottled water needed), and landscape minimally with native low-water plants.

The name Paper Moon comes from a popular portrait fad that began in the late 19th century. It was an inexpensive and fun way to have one’s portrait taken and paper moon booths were often set up at fairs and carnivals. We enjoy these vintage portraits which often depict folks with big grins having a good time, unlike traditional portraits of the time. As you meander from room to room in our charming cabin you’ll find vintage paper moon photos hanging on the walls, including some sent in by previous guests.

You won’t want to leave Paper Moon, but you can always come back for another visit!

Our pet fee is charged for each pet. We allow up to two pets, which must be included in your booking. Please reach out to discuss bringing additional pets for an additional fee.

The water at the Pierce Creek low water crossing is designed to gently flow over the road. Please note, however, that the water can rise during periods of extremely heavy rain so please use good judgment before crossing. This only happens with exceptional rainfall, and we find that it typically recedes to a normal level within an hour or two of rain stopping. We're always happy to pop over and take a look if you're unsure about the water level. For most of the year this is a dry crossing since Pierce Creek is a wet-weather creek.

Please note that we have rural trash service. The trash/recycle bins for the homes on our private road are located together at the end of the road.
