About This Listing
**Wimberley area post-flood update** Many of our past and future guests have emailed us after the devastating Memorial Day weekend flooding and we appreciate all the well-wishes and concern. We were very lucky that all of our properties were left high and dry and are completely fine. The flooding happened primarily along The Blanco River and the area creeks were not impacted so much. Our hearts go out to all the area families that lost homes, loved ones, pets, and property. All of our future bookings are good to go, and we are happily accepting new ones as well. We’re still a great town to visit!
Paper Moon is a lovely log cabin nestled amongst oaks and elms in the quiet countryside, just 1.5 miles from downtown Wimberley. You’ll cross a scenic low water crossing over Pierce Creek, a wet-weather creek that runs through the front of the property, as you drive in. This spacious cabin was lovingly hand-built by a local Wimberley couple in 1985, and has been recently renovated by the current owners while retaining its rustic charm. It’s an ideal spot for family and friend gatherings, but also perfect for a romantic couple’s retreat. You can make the short drive into town for the wonderful shopping and dining in Wimberley, or you can stay at the cabin and soak up the serenity. Watch the deer graze as you enjoy your morning coffee from the front porch rocking chairs, have a family bbq on the spacious covered deck, roll a cooler out to the veranda and enjoy an evening in the hot tub and around the fire pit, or just snuggle up inside by the wood burning stove and feel the stress of your daily life melt away.
At Paper Moon you get the privacy and serenity of a country home with all the amenities of modern life. The house has two baths, two bedrooms (king bed, queen futon, queen bed), and a large loft (queen bed). Add that to the charming living room with a fold-out couch and wood burning stove, a dining room with seating for 8, a hot tub, abundant outdoor seating, a fire pit, and the large covered deck with a bbq pit, and you’ve got the perfect space for your vacation! At Paper Moon the owners are environmentally conscious. They offer full recycling, use environmentally friendly dish and laundry soap, provide recycled paper products, provide a water filtration pitcher to eliminate the need for bottled water, and landscape with native low-water plants.
The name Paper Moon comes from a popular portrait fad that began in the late 19th century. It was an inexpensive and fun way to have one’s portrait taken and paper moon booths were often set up at fairs and carnivals. We enjoy these vintage portraits which often depict folks with big grins having a good time, unlike traditional portraits of the time. As you meander from room to room in our charming cabin you’ll find vintage paper moon photos hanging on the walls.
We are confident that Paper Moon will exceed your expectations. The owners really go out of their way to add those special touches to make your trip complete, such as providing firewood for the fire pit, and keeping the kitchen stocked with condiments and basics that you may have forgotten. You won’t want to leave Paper Moon, but you can always come back for another visit!
Pets allowed at $50 per pet and we ask that you leave cash or check for the pet fee with the keys upon checkout. Pets must be declared to the owners in advance, preferably at the time of booking. We ask that if dogs are left unattended at the cabin that they be crated. Thanks!
Thank you for booking Paper Moon. We invite you to enjoy our peaceful space, but out of respect for our neighbors please do not cross onto their properties and keep the noise level reasonable during the day and low after 10pm. Children must be supervised at all times.
Check-in time is 4pm. Check-out time is 11am. Please be mindful of these times – the cleaning staff is on a very tight schedule.
The wi-fi password is leathhollow.
If you wish to enjoy the fire pit, please respect burn bans, avoid lighting a fire in high winds, burn only wood, and make sure the fire is out before turning in for the night. We strive to keep a supply of firewood for our guests, but can’t guarantee it. You can always find firewood at the Exxon station on RR12, if needed.
There is NO SMOKING in the house. Smoking is permitted outside, but please dispose of all cigarette butts. Cigarette butts are litter too.
This house has a septic system. PLEASE BE GENTLE. Do not flush any feminine products or non-degradable items down the toilet and dispose of kitchen grease in the trash when cool.
All trash must be bagged and left in the large trash can at the end of Leath Hollow. Please place all recycling (glass, paper, cardboard, cans, and plastic containers - no plastic bags, please) in the bins provided. Before checking out, please empty them into the large recycling cans at the end of Leath Hollow. Gregory will roll the trash can out to the main highway for pickup on Sunday night, and the recycling can out for pickup on alternating Wednesday nights.
We have high quality City of Wimberley water that is perfectly safe and drinkable. In addition, we have provided a water filtration pitcher which provides purified drinking water, thus eliminating the need to buy lots of plastic water bottles. Think green!
Please turn off lights when not in use, including the porch lights after you’re in for the night.
Prior to checkout, please wash all dirty dishes and stack dirty towels on the washer. All trash and recycling should be emptied into the large cans by the gate (or at the highway if it's pick-up day) before your departure.
We put lots of love and attention into making this space to share with you. Thank you for treating our home with the same care and respect you would expect from visitors in your own home.
Pets are allowed for a fee of $50 per pet. We ask that you leave cash or check for the pet fee on the kitchen counter upon checkout. All pets should be declared in advance and pets must be crated when left alone.

Thank you so much for visiting us. Enjoy your stay at Paper Moon!
We had a wonderful stay! Seven friends from Austin and Houston met up for a low-key bachelorette celebration. We had a great time walking around, playing board games, and enjoying the hot tub. The home was clean and comfortable. The front porch is perfect for sitting with morning coffee and enjoying the birds, deer, and fresh air. It was a quick drive to the Leaning Pear restaurant and cute shops in Wimberley. Jennifer and Gregory made everything easy with clear instructions and notes. They were very responsive during booking, too.
Paper Moon (name of the log home) is the perfect place to get away from city life. Allegro (my dog) couldn't agree more....lots of land to explore and he enjoyed playing in the creek just outside the property. After playing a game of horseshoes in the afternoon with my family we started a campfire and drank cocktails. Dining on the outdoor patio underneath the stars by the fire was absolutely divine. After dinner, we jumped into the hot tub and enjoyed an evening of laughter. Staying here for 2 nights was incredibly restorative and rejuvenating. The town of Wimberly is delightful and I only wish I could have stayed longer. All of the bedrooms have comfortable mattresses and everyone slept well. I definitely plan to visit the other properties owned by Jennifer and Gregory. They think of everything to make sure you leave with a smile on your face and wonderful memories. Kudos to you both for a job well done. Bravo!!!!!
This wonderful cabin is located on quiet lush property. I totally recommend this place! My out of state friends loved it. Adorable cabin. Stay here!
The house was cute and comfortable -- Andrea and I stayed there with our six month old daughter, and au pair. The property is great -- convenient to Wimberley but feels quiet and far away, in just the right way. Protected from the street so good for letting the dog run around. Everything was wonderful. Thanks!
We enjoyed everything about this cabin. It was perfect for a friends getaway, plenty of room for 5 adults. It was wonderful to sit around the fire pit or in the hot tub and enjoy the views. Very close to the Wimberley square and easy to get to. The only drawback was the water pressure in the upstairs shower was very low- almost not worth using, and definitely can't be used at the same time as the downstairs shower. We would definitely recommend for a family or group.
