Paper Moon is a lovely log home nestled amongst oaks and elms in the quiet countryside, just 1.5 miles from downtown Wimberley, and alongside Pierce Creek (a wet-weather creek). This spacious cabin was lovingly hand-built by a local Wimberley couple in 1985 and has been recently renovated by the current owners while retaining its rustic charm. It’s an ideal spot for family and friend gatherings but also perfect for a romantic couple’s retreat. You can make the short drive into town for the wonderful shopping and dining in Wimberley or you can stay at the cabin and soak up the serenity. Watch the deer graze as you enjoy your morning coffee from the front porch rocking chairs, have a family bbq on the spacious covered deck, roll a cooler out to the veranda and enjoy an evening in the hot tub and around the fire pit, or just snuggle up inside by the wood burning stove and feel the stress of your daily life melt away.
At Paper Moon you get the privacy and serenity of a country home with all the amenities of modern life. The house has two baths, two bedrooms (king bed, double futon, queen bed), and a large semi-private loft that serves as a third bedroom (queen bed). Add that to the charming living room with a fold-out couch and wood burning stove, a dining room with seating for 8, a hot tub, abundant outdoor seating, a fire pit, and the large covered deck with a bbq pit, and you’ve got the perfect space for your vacation!
At Paper Moon the owners are environmentally conscious. They offer full recycling, use environmentally friendly dish and laundry soap, provide recycled paper products, provide a water filtration pitcher to eliminate the need for bottled water, and landscape with native low-water plants.
The name Paper Moon comes from a popular portrait fad that began in the late 19th century. It was an inexpensive and fun way to have one’s portrait taken and paper moon booths were often set up at fairs and carnivals. We enjoy these vintage portraits which often depict folks with big grins having a good time, unlike traditional portraits of the time. As you meander from room to room in our charming cabin you’ll find vintage paper moon photos hanging on the walls.
We are confident that Paper Moon will exceed your expectations. The owners really go out of their way to add those special touches to make your trip complete, such as providing firewood for the fire pit, and keeping the kitchen stocked with condiments and basics that you may have forgotten. You won’t want to leave Paper Moon, but you can always come back for another visit!
Pets are allowed at $50 per pet and we ask that you leave cash or check for the pet fee on the kitchen counter upon checkout. Pets must be declared to the owners in advance, preferably at the time of booking. We ask that if dogs are left unattended at the house that they be crated. Thanks!

Wow! That has to be the best vacation home I have ever visited. Thank you SO much, Jennifer and Gregory, for your thoughtfulness, your ample provisions and kitchenware, your board games, your comfy beds, your clean rooms and your beautiful, secluded property.
I hope to come back and rent from you again. I will highly recommend this place to anyone who asks me. Thank you for providing such a welcoming and relaxing stay for my family. What a blessing.
This cabin was a dream to stay at - extremely comfortable, with all the essentials and more. My friends and I could not stop talking about how nice the cabin is and way better than more places we have stayed at while seeking a similar country experience. Jennifer and Gregory really anticipated every need and provided many wonderful surprises. The whole process of renting the cabin felt very seamless.
Really enjoyed our stay here. They've truly thought of everything. Highly recommended!
Jennifer and Gregory were lovely hosts. The cabin was magical. Spotlessly clean and very homey. We enjoyed our stay there immensely. We will definitely be back!
Amazing retreat and just what my wife an I needed! Clean home and great location to everything we wanted to do while in the area.
Jennifer And Gregory were great hosts, leaving us a note and some Wimberly suggestions. The cabin was clean, charming, and cozy and we got some hikes in on the dried creek bed adjacent to the property. The king mattress upstairs was some of the best sleep we've had traveling in a while. My wife and I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a stay in Wimberly.
This is really what I think of when I try to picture the "ideal vacation home" - it's a very well maintained cabin with a quirky but cozy design (wonderful woodwork!), and everything is in place to make you feel at home. The property is also wonderful, and the town of Wimberley is very cute.
Absolutely adored this place! I highly recommend it for it's atmosphere, amenities, and gracious hosts. The home feels as if you are secluded and miles away from city life yet minutes away from the heart of Wimberley.
The Paper Moon is an absolute perfect retreat, down to the smallest detail. Greg and Jennifer understand guests' needs and prize their comforts, whether it's stocking the woodpile or the dvd cabinet, posting helpful instruction cards, or dressing the comfy beds in soft linens. On my first afternoon there, I found myself in the middle of a surprise butterfly migration in the front field, and, for just a moment, I thought, "Wow -- Greg and Jennifer think of everything!" Seriously, they're just that good.
The cabin is clean and modern, yet cozy and warm, with lots of light, brilliant use of space, and every imaginable amenity. The location is super convenient to town, yet completely private and serene. Whether you're looking for a solo writing retreat, a friends weekend, a romantic escape or a family getaway, I highly recommend any one of their properties.
