Come enjoy a private room and bath in our beautiful Spanish style adobe brick house. Your private entrance is through a court yard, the house is nestled on the top of a hill with expansive views Close to Sonoma, Sonoma State University, Petaluma, quaint downtown Penngrove, Lagunitas Brewing Co.
Come stay at our family home and get a feel for the Spanish mission era of California wine country. We raised our kids here in this big adobe brick house and I am still living on 3.5 acres of grasslands and eucalyptus grove. My son, his family and their giant schnauzer live in their own quarters separate from me and run a hobby farm which is home to Waldo the Llama, various pigs, goats, chickens etc. The main house where I live is 5 bedrooms which surround a luscious courtyard. You will stay right off the courtyard in your own private apartment. Amenities include, wifi, a private bathroom and shower, a TV linked to the internet. and a small kitchenette suitable for simple breakfasts in our sunny courtyard.
We are about 45-50 minutes from San Francisco, 45-50 minutes from the wild and beautiful california coast, and about 30 minutes from Sonoma WIne country. Penngrove is a small town and has a restaurant, a pizza joint and a sweet little bar.
You will be inspired by both the peace and quiet you find here in this rural setting in the main house and the hustle and bustle of my son's busy family farm around the other side of the house. Not to mention the serenity of coastal fog which finds its way to us across the hills many mornings.
Come try it out.
Room has a mini frig, and coffee maker with complimentary coffee. Also a complimentary bottle of wine the 1st night when stay 2 or more nights. There is a table and chairs in the court yard to enjoy the atmosphere. .
Interaction with Guests
I'd be happy to share my knowledge of the area and the wine country. I've lived here for 30+ years. I'm here most of the time to help you as needed.
We are close to Sonoma State. You can take a walk around and see horses, sheep, goats, etc. We are on a hill and have a great view of the valley below and Sonoma Mountain across the valley. When looking out you see the sunrise or the fog in the valley. We are about 2 miles from the Logunites Brewing Co. with it's tasting room, live music and pub food. This has become a favorite spot for guests
Nearest buses are about a mile away.
No smoking please
What a nice place for a wine country getaway! Very friendly host! Shiah was there to greet us and offer suggestions for meals and other things to do in the area. I wish our itinerary hadn't already been so packed that we could've spent more time in his company.
He set us up with the TV (Netflix) and wifi for the internet, and gave us a little tour of the room, which is set across an internal courtyard from the rest of his house. Very private and well stocked with keurig coffee pods, a mini fridge, towels, a very comfy bed. The room has its own thermostat and we never felt too warm or too cold.
The house is just outside of Petaluma (approx 6 miles from the historic part of town), but maybe only a mile off a main road and within a very short drive to stores, restaurants. Lots of animals to see on the way up -- there are a few sheep and a llama on the property itself. We also heard a lot of frogs during the nite, which I found really pleasant.
This place is great! The architecture is beautiful and looks just like the pictures on the website. Shiah was really nice and made us feel at home. We were introduced to his son and they even showed us his collection of butterflies set within marble shadow boxes. We definitely would come back again!
The location was perfect for me. The Host was a very nice man, the view was exceptional.
The room was in a convenient location for exploring the wine region. We loved the fact that the house is in the country, literally down a dirt road. The view from the house is fantastic, and my wife and I enjoyed a nice bottle of wine (provided by the generous host) under the stars sitting by the pool at night. Shiah was a great host, and he provided a lot of great recommendations. Highly recommended!
I enjoyed my stay at Shiah's. Everything was as advertised and the room was large and well-appointed. The rural environment, yet close to businesses and the freeway made it an ideal location.
We had such a great time in Shia's place. We spent 6 nights there and Shia was really helpful for us. Evey morning, he was giving us advise were to go and what we should visit. evrything he told us was amazing - the good minneries, good tour, the Redwood Forest, etc.
The room is big and clean with attach bathroom. The bed is confortable, we had great coffee and a good bottle of red wine offered by Shia. The last night, we went for a beer with him and its was a great discovery !
My husband and I stayed with Shiah at his spanish villa while visiting wine country for a wedding. The place was perfect for us and Shiah was a wonderful host. We arrived pretty late (past midnight) and the house was a little hard to locate in the dark, but Shiah was available by phone to give us directions.
The property is an older, rustic style, complete with lots of animals including a dog, two cats, Waldo the llama, three sheep, and chickens! We especially adored their dog, Coco.
Our room was exactly as pictured and very clean and comfortable. Shiah and his daughter Jenny were very friendly, but we still had a lot of privacy, thanks to the private entrance through the pretty courtyard and personal bathroom.
Shiah was really accommodating to our schedule as we arrived so late and also had a very late flight out when we left, but was very flexible with our check out time. We really appreciated that!
Staying with Shiah during our visit to wine country was a very positive experience for us and we highly recommend this place!
I've lived in Sonoma county 30+ years, raised in San Francisco. I'm retired--my son and his family live on the property. I walk/hike 4-5 days/week. I do meditation and attend a sangha regularly
