About this listing
Come enjoy a private room and bath in our beautiful Spanish style adobe brick house. Your private entrance is through a court yard, the house is nestled on the top of a hill with expansive views Close to Sonoma, Sonoma State University, Petaluma, quaint downtown Penngrove, Lagunitas Brewing Co.
Come stay at our family home and get a feel for the Spanish mission era of California wine country. We raised our kids here in this big adobe brick house and I am still living on 3.5 acres of grasslands and eucalyptus grove. My son, his family and their giant schnauzer live in their own quarters separate from me and run a hobby farm which is home to Waldo the Llama, various pigs, goats, chickens etc. The main house where I live is 5 bedrooms which surround a luscious courtyard. You will stay right off the courtyard in your own private apartment. Amenities include, wifi, a private bathroom and shower, a TV linked to the internet. and a small kitchenette suitable for simple breakfasts in our sunny courtyard.
We are about 45-50 minutes from San Francisco, 45-50 minutes from the wild and beautiful california coast, and about 30 minutes from Sonoma WIne country. Penngrove is a small town and has a restaurant, a pizza joint and a sweet little bar.
You will be inspired by both the peace and quiet you find here in this rural setting in the main house and the hustle and bustle of my son's busy family farm around the other side of the house. Not to mention the serenity of coastal fog which finds its way to us across the hills many mornings.
Come try it out.
Room has a mini frig, and coffee maker with complimentary coffee. Also a complimentary bottle of wine the 1st night when stay 2 or more nights. There is a table and chairs in the court yard to enjoy the atmosphere. .
Interaction with Guests
I'd be happy to share my knowledge of the area and the wine country. I've lived here for 30+ years. I'm here most of the time to help you as needed.
We are close to Sonoma State. You can take a walk around and see horses, sheep, goats, etc. We are on a hill and have a great view of the valley below and Sonoma Mountain across the valley. When looking out you see the sunrise or the fog in the valley. We are about 2 miles from the Logunites Brewing Co. with it's tasting room, live music and pub food. This has become a favorite spot for guests
Nearest buses are about a mile away.

The stay was wonderful. The place was comfortable, clean and exactly as promised. Our host met us when we arrived and showed us around. I am picky with my bedding and it was comfortable. I loved the dogs and the llama which is one reason I picked this place. Thanks much. I hope to stay there again in the future. Five stars
Shiah was a very welcoming host, this was our first time using the AirBnB services and I would highly recommend visiting Sonoma/Napa County and staying with Shiah.
Shiah's place was exactly what we needed - very peaceful (5-10 min drive outside downtown Petaluma, animals roaming around, and a swimming pool. He and his daughter were very accommodating and happy to give suggestions for places of interest. We'd love to stay again if we're ever in the area.
Shiah was quite accommodating and thoughtful. Space was well laid out, clean, and functional. Friendly dogs. Beautiful view from front of house. Farm animals next door were fun to see. Too cool for us to try out the pool unfortunately, but a nice outdoor area. We slept with ear plugs since retiring earlier than usual due to time zone difference.
My stay at Shiah's was just lovely. The room was much more than I expected-- it was more like a suite. A bottle of wine and coffee was provided. The beautiful courtyard with a fountain and flowers just outside of the room was a perfect space for my dog and I to sit after a day of traveling.
Shiah was very friendly. He checked on me to be sure I was settled in, offered to help carry in my bags, even provided a pitcher of filtered water. He provided excellent recommendations for my time in town. Hiking, a trip to the beach, a brewery, and a biodynamic winery.... Thanks for the tips! Next time I visit, I will have to take a dip in the pool and visit with the llama.
2 days at Shiah's place was just what we needed. Room was way larger than it photographs and came with all the amentities you want a room to have. Comfy bed, beautiful property, and a coffee maker and a mini fridge. We loved staying here during our tour of wine country. Shiah was an incredible host and his home is close to all the sights you probably want to see. We really enjoyed his pool after a long bike ride through Sonoma. Two thumbs way up!
Shiah welcomed us to our room and offered us great advice on where the best places to dine were. We enjoyed daily walks through the neighborhood, passing the llama, sheep, cows and large groups of wild turkeys. He also left us a great bottle of wine to enjoy.
The room was very comfortable and the grounds were beautiful and in full bloom.
