Our renovated 50's era home in East Nashville has its own 3/4 acre lake in the front yard. Your room opens on to a deck where you can sit and enjoy our private little park only 3.5 miles from downtown.

The Space

Our home is situated on 2 acres but in an urban neighborhood. We are 3 1/2 miles from downtown and about a mile from 5 points, located in the historic Lockeland Springs neighborhood. East Nashville has so many great restaurants that you really don't have to leave this part of town, and several popular ones (Silly Goose, Wild Cow, Rosepepper & Family Wash) are within an easy walking distance. We are close to I-24 and Ellington Pkwy which allow you to go just about anywhere in Nashville in about 20 minutes. And are also only minutes from Titan Stadium.

Guest Access

Your room has a private entrance and it's own private bath but we also have a lovely screened in porch that is a great place to just chill if you'd like to join us. The porch also has a fireplace that allows use of the porch except on the most bitter winter days. We have several types of boats that you will be welcome to enjoy during your stay or even do a little fishing. We have lots of places outside to sit and just enjoy doing nothing. Your room has a flat screen TV, a desk/dressing table and a small fridge, microwave, toaster oven and coffee maker for your convenience with basic breakfast needs. Limited use of the kitchen is okay, just leave it tidy when done. We can accommodate two very comfortably. However, if you have need iof an extra bed let us know and we will be glad to talk about the extra sleeping areas we have before you book

Interaction with Guests

We love sharing our home and will interact as much or as little as you like. We do work part time but usually one of us is at home. We share our home with our terrier Louie who barks at anyone coming in, including us. Our African Grey Koko and Amazon Sassy, aka our alarm clocks, can be very entertaining and they like to show off, but not be touched.

The Neighborhood

Our 50's era neighborhood is a short walk to the greenway that runs along the Cumberland River. Our home is located behind Shelby Park where you can fish for trout, play a round of golf or go and watch a baseball game and it's all within walking distance. We get many walkers and runners going by because of the lake and it is a pretty friendly and safe neighborhood.

Getting around

There is a bus stop 3 blocks from our home that can connect you to downtown. We have parking for several cars at our home and would love to share some of the fun places we know about for you to check out.

  • Urban Oasis... you could not come up with a better term to describe this amazing location and these wonderful hosts in Nashville. Cathryne & David were two of the friendliest and most welcoming people we have ever met.

This vacation was planned with a few goals... to get a little rest, a little relaxation, a little sightseeing and a lot of exercising and we met all our criteria in this great location. The neighborhood is safe and quiet. Cathryne & David's home is immaculate... clean and amazingly comfortable. Our hosts invited us to share in their 4th of July holiday which we happily accepted. Nashville has some of the most amazing fireworks... if you ever get an opportunity to check it out do not pass it up.

We brought our bicycles and the Greenway / Music City Bikeway is a very short distance away from this location (don't blink or you'll miss it)... this Bikeway will take you all the way to the dam at J Percy Priest Reservoir to the east and right into downtown Nashville to the west. I fell in love with the Bikeway (I would equate it to the Blue Ridge Parkway for bicycles) ... safe, pristine, scenic and very friendly...

East Nashville is a great location to do all your exploring of this amazing city. Restaurants and shops are very close by but you have the feeling of country living with this beautiful property and wonderful hosts full of southern hospitality.

Enjoy Nashville from this great Airbnb location.

  • The host were very nice. When we left they did seem a little upset that we didn't spend any time with them even though I had informed them that we would be very busy on this trip. The neighborhood was very pretty and close (driving distance, not walking) to everywhere we wanted to go. Their property was very beautiful but the animals were noisy. Their dogs barked anytime any one came to the front door, which is right next to our room. Their bird starts making very loud noises first thing in the morning. The bird just kept making the same noise over and over and over again in the morning. We will not recommend this place or stay here again even though we plan on returning to Nashville. We loved the city and cant wait to go back.

  • We have never been to Nashville before and choosing a location to stay is always frought with questions and anticipation! Based on the photos and reviews of Cathryne's and David's home, we made the right choice! Cathryne greeted us warmly (David was away on a family matter). The room was great. Clean, spacious, appointed well with all the basic needs. Fridge had water, muffins. The bonus was the ability to walk out from the private access to their yard, overlooking the pond. My wife said it felt like being at a resort!
The location in East Nashville is pretty easy to get to. The area has an eclectic vibe of new and old... bohemian restaurants, some upscale and many that would fit well on the tv show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives (which we absolutely love!).
Our host was exceptionally accommodating, well versed with the area and the spots to see. Louis the dog was friendly and the parrots were 'hoots' (!). We would go back in a heartbeat. Thanks Cathryne for making our stay wonderful!

  • Most beautiful stop on our cross country trip! This home was amazing, you don't have to leave the house to feel like you are on vacation. Easy drive to town, Cathryne suggested some free parking that was awesome! Quiet, comfortable neighborhood and home. Tons of local restaurants around the area. Sat and chatted with Cathryne for an hour when we arrived and she suggested parking and restaurants, all of which we utilized and were perfect!

  • We loved our two night stay at Urban Oasis. Everything about the house was perfect for a couple. What a beautiful property in East Nashville! From the landscaping outside to the furnishings inside, we couldn't have asked for more. These two creative, talented people have really built a wonderful home in a great location and I am glad that they chose to share it with us. It was our first visit to the area and I realize how fortunate we were to be able to spend it at this house. Cathryne was an unbelievable host and a great source of information on where to eat and what to do and even where to park in the area. It was such a relaxing place to get up in the morning and walk around before having coffee and english muffins on the patio with Cathryne. It wasn't easy leaving that patio each day! Louie and the birds were a lot of fun, too. We will definitely be looking to return someday, and next time for more than just a couple of days.

  • Cathryne and David set the bar very high for our next stay using airbnb! We loved their home, their hospitality, the birds and the dog...oh yes, did I mention the accomodations? Everything was wonderful and even better than expected. We will certainly stay again when visiting Nashville and maybe get to enjoy their home a bit more. We loved the list of restaurants and Cathryne's directions to free parking while visiting downtown Nashville was great. We would stay with them again in a heartbeat! Thanks for sharing your home with us.

  • Lovely neighbourhood and lovely house. Bedroom was clean and peaceful. Food was available for breakfast.

  • We had a wonderful weekend at Cathryne and David's. The space was more beautiful than we imagined and as far as hosts go, we felt like we hit the jackpot. Cathryne and David made us feel like part of the family from the start. The bed was comfortable, the shower was very nice. We liked that the bathroom was connected to our room. We were in Nashville to see a show at the Ryman, which wasn't a far drive from the property. It was a great show but my favorite part of the trip was hanging out with Sassy, the bird, and cuddling up with their little dog on the couch. I can't say enough good things about these people and their place. We are looking forward to our next visit.

We are from South Florida and the Bahamas originally. We moved to Nashville after selling our architectural stained glass business in 2000. In 2001 we found our dream property and we knew we could remodel the house into our dream home, which we did in 2008. We enjoy having friends and family over on a regular basis for dinner, wine on the porch or just chatting. We travel when we can but when you live in a park its really hard to leave.
