Our renovated 50's era home in East Nashville has its own 3/4 acre lake in the front yard. Your room opens on to a deck where you can sit and enjoy our private little park only 3.5 miles from downtown.
Our home is situated on 2 acres but in an urban neighborhood. We are 3 1/2 miles from downtown and about a mile from 5 points, located in the historic Lockeland Springs neighborhood. East Nashville has so many great restaurants that you really don't have to leave this part of town, and several popular ones (Silly Goose, Wild Cow, Rosepepper & Family Wash) are within an easy walking distance. We are close to I-24 and Ellington Pkwy which allow you to go just about anywhere in Nashville in about 20 minutes. And are also only minutes from Titan Stadium.
Your room has a private entrance and it's own private bath but we also have a lovely screened in porch that is a great place to just chill if you'd like to join us. The porch also has a fireplace that allows use of the porch except on the most bitter winter days. We have lots of places outside to sit and just enjoy doing nothing. Your room has a flat screen TV, a desk/dressing table and a small fridge, microwave, toaster oven and coffee maker for your convenience with basic breakfast needs. Limited use of the kitchen is okay, just leave it tidy when done. We can accommodate two very comfortably. We have a washer and dryer that you can use as well as an iron and ironing board. Just let one of us know and we will show you where everything is located.
Interaction with Guests
We love sharing our home and will interact as much or as little as you like. We do work part time but usually one of us is at home. We share our home with our terrier Louie who barks at anyone coming in, including us. Our African Grey Koko and Amazon Sassy, aka our alarm clocks, can be very entertaining and they like to show off, but not be touched.
Our 50's era neighborhood is a short walk to the greenway that runs along the Cumberland River. Our home is located behind Shelby Park where you can fish for trout, play a round of golf or go and watch a baseball game and it's all within walking distance. We get many walkers and runners going by because of the lake and it is a friendly and safe neighborhood.
There is a bus stop 3 blocks from our home that can connect you to downtown. We have parking for several cars at our home and would love to share some of the fun places we know about for you to check out.
No smoking of any kind in the house please. We are both pretty laid back people and other than the smoking we only ask that you respect our home. If you do need to use the kitchen, please clean up after yourself. Please park your car in the side parking area so that it doesn't block the garage.
We had a fabulous time in Nashville, made all the better by David and Cathryne's hospitality! Before we even arrived Cathryne sent restaurant suggestions and excellent directions to the house. The bed was amazingly comfortable and you can't beat the view from the front deck. One of the best parts was having a quiet retreat to return to after a long day of seeing the sites. We would return tomorrow!
Wow...I'm so glad I spent the last two days of my Nashville trip at Cathryne and David's incredible property. The site and aspect of the house is unique...even though you are not so far away from things (walking distance to Rosepepper's Cantina) it felt very, very secluded. The mature trees and view overlooking the lake is spectacular...when you are here you really feel like you are in nature. There is koi and bass in the lake and an endless parade of lovely birds.
There are lovely birds inside the house also...two beautiful parrots Sassy and Coco. The house itself is also very unique...really magazine-ready and beautifully appointed. Look out for the glass art that was done by Cathryne. The guest space is spacious and contained many amenities, including Keurig coffee maker.
You can expect gracious hospitality from the hosts...this is a house they built with love and they are justifiably proud of it!
We enjoyed our stay at this location - perfect for access to the City and to get to the Rock n Roll Marathon finish and parking area
This was our first experience with Airbnb and it couldn't have been better! Cathryne and David are wonderful hosts who made us feel welcome from the second we arrived. Their beautiful home is the perfect setting to explore Nashville from- clean, comfortable, full of home comforts, personal touches and spectacular views! They clearly love hosting and make a special effort to get to know their guests, they are both so friendly and genuine, they also gave us some great local recommendations! East Nashville is such a great location with so much to see and do (and eat!- We recommend dinner at the Lockeland Table or lunch at Five Points Pizza or Edley's BBQ- try their beef brisket!) away from the bustling downtown area. We both loved our stay in this little paradise and could not recommend it any higher! - Lauren & Paul
We absolutely loved our time at Urban Oasis. I would rename it "Urban Paradise"! What a beautiful little spot of heaven. The pictures paint a very accurate picture. Our room was so comfortable and private with a private entrance. We ate breakfast sitting on their deck overlooking the pond both mornings, and it was beautiful! The Halls were delightful hosts and such nice and interesting people. We would definitely stay there again if we return for a visit to Nashville.
Our very first Airbnb reservation (ever) was with Cathryne and David and we couldn't have asked for a better experience! As many of the other reviewers described, Cathryne and David are very welcoming and attentive hosts. Upon arrival, we were given a tour of their beautiful home and guest suite. We felt quite at home, especially since I was invited to join Cathryne on the summer porch for conversation and to relax as my husband could finish some unexpected work issues (at the desk in the guest suite). Eventually, all four of us were enjoying conversations on the summer porch, along with the visiting ducks and hummingbirds. Cathryne and David were also helpful with restaurant suggestions and other area activities. They let us know on several occasions that we could ask them if we needed anything. It was also convenient that we could come and go without disturbing them because of the seperate entrance. Such nice people... it was truly a pleasure to meet them and we will absolutely stay with them again the next time we are in Nashville.
We were made to feel very welcome with a tour of the house, then shown our room. It's private entry made it easy to come and go at the times that were convenient for us without concern of disturbing our hosts. We were invited to join them in the main house anytime we wanted. They helped with directions and suggestions for places to eat and things to do. We were very comfortable and would recommend staying here to anyone.

We are from South Florida and the Bahamas originally. We moved to Nashville after selling our architectural stained glass business in 2000. In 2001 we found our dream property and we knew we could remodel the house into our dream home, which we did in 2008. We enjoy having friends and family over on a regular basis for dinner, wine on the porch or just chatting. We travel when we can but when you live in a park its really hard to leave.
