Just renovated charming house! And a real holiday feeling.
There is enough room for 5 adults and a baby or toddler (we can arrange a baby bed and baby chair on request). The couch in the living room can be easily turned in a bed for two adults. There are two toilets in the house!
You can enjoy you're breakfast or a sunny moment on the comfortable bench in the front of the house and get a taste of the life in Monnickendam!
Since we are located in the centre of the medieval city, you can step out the door and immediately start a beautiful stroll down the streets, the old citywalls, the harbour and canals in Monnickendam or rent a boat/bike for a day and be amazed by the typical Dutch countryside! It's all just outside your door. Restaurants, fresh bakery and shops are around the corner, for you to enjoy. Can I say more? :)

Riet's apartment was amazing and she helped us out in various aspects! Firstly she was very accommodating with the meeting time for the house and she even had food ready for us because we were arriving on Saturday night where many shops may be closed.
The house itself is very nice and clean. Riet's renovations were great and the house is located in a cute little town with bakeries and restaurants and a supermarket not too far away. There is also a bus stop that takes you right into Amsterdam Central Station easily (as Riet mentions in her description).
I really recommend anyone coming to Amsterdam who may want to retreat to peace and quiet after spending the day in the city to check out this place! I stayed here with my parents and the apartment has space enough for a family of 3-4. The stairs may be a bit steep though so people with small children should be a bit cautionary with small children. Though you can also sleep on the sofa (which is quite big) downstairs and breakfast in this house just feels great everyday too (with the morning sun shining in through all the windows)!
We want to thank Riet for her inviting home. She is very hospitable hostess. Everything was functionally, comfortably and very conveniently. The house is located in the pleasant town.
We were very pleased to get acquainted with Riet. Hope to visit again this lovely house.
Danke Riet!
My family and I adored Riet's beautiful two-level house in the lovely seaside village of Monnikendam! The house provided the perfect amount of space for my husband and I and our two children. The upstairs bedrooms were wonderfully cozy, and the open kitchen/dining/living room area on the ground floor, with its large windows and comfortable seats, provided a great space to relax. The apartment was fully equipped, and even though the kitchen space was a bit limited, we were able to cook a (simple) meal during one of the nights of our stay. Riet was the perfect host, greeting us upon our arrival with some basic supplies (wine, cheese, bread, coffee and even packets of jam and butter) and providing us with a wealth of helpful information. The town of Monnikendam is close to Amsterdam (a 15-minute bus ride to AMS Central Station at around 15 Euros per adult r/t), but much more charming. We wished that we could have stayed 1-2 days longer to have been able to take Riet's advice and taken a bike trip in the area (Riet can suggest routes and help with bike rentals). I would seriously recommend this town and this house for a stay in Amsterdam (rather than staying in the city itself). A really, really nice place which we would highly recommend!
We had the chance to find this place, not far from Amsterdam. Monnickendam is a beautiful town far from the bustle of the city and so convenient at the same time as Amsterdam can be reached by bus in just 20minutes. The town is located close to Edam and other nice villages that can be reached by bike. We even found a bike rental shop in Edam that delivered the bikes to our front door in the morning !! The house is very pretty, located in the old part of town near the canals and many nice restaurants. The house is lovely furnished and has everything needed (great kitchen, beautiful bathroom...). It was recently redecorated very nicely. We stayed 3 adults and 2 young children (you just have to be careful with young children as the stairs to the first floor are a bit steep). The owner was very helpful throughout our stay. She recommended good restaurants and where to get essential things like bread etc. Highly recommended. We most probably come again.
