This beautiful part of San Francisco is called Land's End...as we are on the edge of the Pacific Ocean. The house was built by Adolf Sutro as one of his guest cottages. The ruins of his mansion are 3 blocks away in beautiful Sutro Park overlooking the Sutro Baths and the blue Pacific. Explore the Baths and the hiking trails along the Pacific Ocean with breathtaking views of the Golden Gate Bridge, ride bikes in Golden Gate Park, surf the famed Ocean Beach break, hop on a bus and check out North Beach, Union Square, the Ferry Building or just put your feet up and relax in a quiet SF beach neighborhood.
Come out and stay on the Left Coast, literally.
Quiet residential neighborhood filled with people who love living near the beach. Bonus: the close proximity to Land's End and the fabulous trails that skirt the bluffs above the sea. Easy access to / from both north and south of the city.
2 and 3 blocks from 3 separate bus lines. Easy
Guests enter and exit the private studio via my garage. My guests have their own set of keys to both the garage door and the studio door. There is a deck / patio in the back of the house my guests are encouraged to enjoy.
I invite you to interact with me as much or as little as you would like! The studio apt is on the lower level of my home, and I work from home. I enjoy getting to know my guests, offering ideas and suggestions of things to do, places to go, etc .... or stay out of the way and offer as much privacy as my guests desire.
Usually, free street parking is available directly in front of my house.
I'm excited for you to discover why I love living where I live. I am a 2-minute walk from the beach ... and I never tire of being mesmerized by waves. The Land's End Coastal Trail is a 5-minute walk away and it's a unique experience to run/hike it every single time - the weather changes the view, I meet new people and visit with the "regulars", find a new trail to discover something I hadn't seen before. Always invigorating! But there is no denying that this quiet residential neighborhood, with plenty of free parking, at the beach!, in one of the best cities in the world! is exactly where I belong.
Public transport by bus to take you anywhere in the city is a 5-minute walk from my home.
Other Things to Note
The studio is not equipped for cooking. If you wish to use my kitchen during your stay, please let me know.
Absolutely NO SMOKING or drugs on property - please respect this rule. I do not want my home smelling of smoke.
Very comfortable and charming private apartment. Comfortable bed and cozy living room. Small kitchen, refrigerator, coffee pot and amenities. We loved the location in the relaxed side of San Francisco, close to the beach and a walking trail, but with easy access to the rest of the city. Laurie was an enthusiastic, well informed host, very warm friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed our stay and wished we could have stayed longer than 2 nights!
First and foremost, Laurie should be air bnb ambassador for San Francisco! Our Host knows the city like no one else and her attendance to our needs was always there day after day. The place Laurie offers is a very good deal, the pictures and description of the unit were very accurate.
the best thing about the location: you can truly walk to the beach (5 minutes by foot) and enjoy the Pacific Ocean view with the finest sand San Francisco has to offer. For me and my partner, that was a real luxury and would select Laurie's place again in a heart beat.
This was my first experience with air bnb and a positive one, staying with a local had a lot of pluses that hotels cannot offer (or at a very expensive price). My compliments to air bnb for creating a new way to travel: staying with family you did not know you had.
To Laurie: you have a special place in our heart.
We had a fantastic time staying at this great little apartment. Laurie was exceedingly kind, helpful, and thoughtful and was a pleasure to meet. The apartment was nicely appointed and very comfortable. It was in a fantastic location and within short walking distance to the beach and a lot of other great sight seeing locales. We would definitely recommend staying here!
Well, having a location like Laurie has to offer is just a gem in itself - it is an excellent neighborhood (Golden Gate Park, Cliff House/Sutros, lovely residential area, hello?!!). But having Laurie at the helm - perfect! She really is as enthusiastic about her adopted city as she indicated, and knowledgeable to boot. She had maps to offer, and knowing our interests was able to direct us, advise about bus routes (we opted to leave our rental car in front of Laurie's house and take the bus or walk). The space was perfect for our wishes and needs. Bed alcove (pictured), kitchen area, living room with lovely chaise lounge, couch, superTV, and stocked bookshelf, big storage closet, all delivered. The bedding was delicious. Cookies? Oy. She knows from cookies. Knowing I love to bake and appreciate cookies Laurie directed us to locally famous Marla's, and while the cc cookies there were good, they were second to Laurie's. We ended up with a clothes spill "emergency" and being able to wash clothes to keep stain from setting before we got home
was welcome. Laurie was gracious, intelligent, and enthusiastic; we were lucky to find her place.
I had a lovely experience in this cute studio apartment, which is far more spacious than the pictures indicate. The location is perfect, where you can easily get to the beach, Golden Gate Park and the Golden Gate Bridge. And the Best thing is the host, Laurie. She is very helpful, knowledgeable of the area and made my stay a pleasant one.
I thoroughly recommend the place, and hope to stay here again someday day soon.
Where do I begin? I was working for a week in San Francisco so I was looking for a place that would give me some peace and quiet. When I found Laurie' place, it was a real gift because my favorite things to do in SF are all around her place (Golden Gate Park, Ocean Beach, The Sutro Bath Ruins and The Cliff House--not that there's much time for that when you're working). Laurie' studio apartment is perfect and so is she! They are both absolutely charming. I highly recommend staying with her if you can get a (email hidden)e's often booked up. Enjoy!!!
Laurie is wonderful. Communication was easy. The apartment is clean, fresh, and light. The exit to the patio makes the whole place open up. We spent two nights in Laurie's place and enjoyed her hospitality and lovely personality. The nearby scenery which can be enjoyed on foot is not to be missed. Laurie greeted us with cookies and bid farewell to us by helping us load our luggage. Finding street parking in San Francisco near the apartment was a bonus that sent us over the moon. An A+ Airbnb experience! Miriam and Rudy
I LOVE San Francisco!! I mean, I am IN LOVE with San Francisco!
I am not a native, but I have adopted this city as my own, and proudly call her my home.
Every time I drive, bicycle or run across the Golden Gate Bridge it feels like its the first time - it never gets old. The ever-changing weather makes for amazing ever-changing views and vistas. San Francisco is filled with great restaurants, bars, coffee shops and cafes, music venues, museums, parks, festivals, diverse neighborhoods, shopping and outdoor recreational opportunities. I feel incredibly fortunate to live at the beach, at Land’s End, yet still be just minutes away from the vibrant pulse of this city. Airbnb allows me to share all this with my guests from around the world -- Welcome!
