This beautiful part of San Francisco is called Land's End...as we are on the edge of the Pacific Ocean. The house was built by Adolf Sutro as one of his guest cottages. The ruins of his mansion are 3 blocks away in beautiful Sutro Park overlooking the Sutro Baths and the blue Pacific. Explore the Baths and the hiking trails along the Pacific Ocean with breathtaking views of the Golden Gate Bridge, ride bikes in Golden Gate Park, surf the famed Ocean Beach break, hop on a bus and check out North Beach, Union Square, the Ferry Building or just put your feet up and relax in a quiet SF beach neighborhood.
Come out and stay on the Left Coast, literally.
Quiet residential neighborhood filled with people who love living near the beach. Bonus: the close proximity to Land's End and the fabulous trails that skirt the bluffs above the sea. Easy access to / from both north and south of the city.
2 and 3 blocks from 3 separate bus lines. Easy
Guests enter and exit the private studio via my garage. My guests have their own set of keys to both the garage door and the studio door. There is a deck / patio in the back of the house my guests are encouraged to enjoy.
I invite you to interact with me as much or as little as you would like! The studio apt is on the lower level of my home, and I work from home. I enjoy getting to know my guests, offering ideas and suggestions of things to do, places to go, etc .... or stay out of the way and offer as much privacy as my guests desire.
Usually, free street parking is available directly in front of my house.
I'm excited for you to discover why I love living where I live. I am a 2-minute walk from the beach ... and I never tire of being mesmerized by waves. The Land's End Coastal Trail is a 5-minute walk away and it's a unique experience to run/hike it every single time - the weather changes the view, I meet new people and visit with the "regulars", find a new trail to discover something I hadn't seen before. Always invigorating! But there is no denying that this quiet residential neighborhood, with plenty of free parking, at the beach!, in one of the best cities in the world! is exactly where I belong.
Public transport by bus to take you anywhere in the city is a 5-minute walk from my home.
Other Things to Note
The studio is not equipped for cooking. If you wish to use my kitchen during your stay, please let me know.
Absolutely NO SMOKING or drugs on property - please respect this rule. I do not want my home smelling of smoke.
It's hard to sum up my experience with Laurie in a few words, but considerate and gracious instantly come to mind. Not only were the accommodations top notch, a clean and tidy studio with private entry way, but Laurie truly goes out of her way to make you feel at home. This is a great location for people who wish to enjoy the beauty the California coast has to offer, while being a short commute to downtown San Fran by bus or car. It was a relaxing retreat, and I'd visit again in a heartbeat.
Everything you see in the pictures and reed in the stories is true! Laurie is a great host and the studio is fantastic. The studio is beautiful and smells like flowers. It's close to the beach and easy to get to the city. When we arrived Laurie welcomed us with freshly baked cookies and a smile. This was the best ending of our 4 week trip trough America!
We stayed at Laurie's awesome studio at the end of an LA/Santa Barbara/San Francisco vacation, and it was the best time. It's close to the beach, buses into the city, and there was plenty of parking, depending on what you need. It was such a better experience than staying at any hotel, and we wouldn't have wanted to end our trip any other way.Laurie was amazing, offered great advice for traveling the city and which sites to see in only a few days, and was just generally a lovely person. I would definitely recommend staying here.
Laurie was the most amazing host ever! My husband and I used AirBnb for the first time for this trip and will absolutely use it again thanks to Laurie. She greeted us with warm cookies, provided insight about where to go and what to eat and spent time explaining all about San Fran! The studio was absolutely perfect and so welcoming as well as close to several bus lines. We would go back in a heartbeat!
Laurie was a very kind, courteous and helpful host. Her unit was very nice and she provided a full set of things you might need (e.g. Shampoo, razor, etc.) when traveling. Highly recommended.
Laurie made my boyfriend and I feel welcome from the moment we arrived! Small touches like homemade granola, cozy robes and fresh-baked cookies made all the difference. The apartment was perfectly sized for two and very private, but Laurie was only a text message away if we needed anything or had a quick question about our day's plans. Lands End, the beach and Golden Gate Park were each 5-10 minutes away on foot and we thoroughly enjoyed them all. Thanks Laurie for helping make our first visit to SF a great one!
Rebecca and Adam
As others have noted, Laurie is a charming and accommodating hostess. She was quickly available to us as needed/requested. She is highly knowledgeable about local eating options and her recommendations were spot on.
The space was most comfortable and relaxing to the point that we dropped several of our plans and nested. Easy access to the beach and Golden Gate Park offered a wealth of walking/running and exploring opportunities.
I LOVE San Francisco!! I mean, I am IN LOVE with San Francisco!
I am not a native, but I have adopted this city as my own, and proudly call her my home.
Every time I drive, bicycle or run across the Golden Gate Bridge it feels like its the first time - it never gets old. The ever-changing weather makes for amazing ever-changing views and vistas. San Francisco is filled with great restaurants, bars, coffee shops and cafes, music venues, museums, parks, festivals, diverse neighborhoods, shopping and outdoor recreational opportunities. I feel incredibly fortunate to live at the beach, at Land’s End, yet still be just minutes away from the vibrant pulse of this city. Airbnb allows me to share all this with my guests from around the world -- Welcome!
