Charming Studio Apt at Ocean Beach

House - Entire home/apt · 47th Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94121, United States
Laurie

Dear Guests,
This quiet and private, 1 bedroom flat (500 sq.ft.) is a charming, peaceful hideaway, 2 blocks from Ocean Beach and Golden Gate Park. It has a queen bed tucked into a cozy yet spacious alcove, wet bar, small private bath (shower only), and living room with flat-screen tv. The self contained is on the ground floor of my home with a secure, well lit, private street entry through my garage and access to the deck and patio in the back of the home. A large sitting/living room draws my guests into the charm of the 'park like' setting of the garden patio. Kick back and relax after a day of sightseeing, shopping in Union Square or biking in Golden Gate Park and take in the charm of this unique Ocean Beach neighborhood.

In addition to Ocean Beach just 2 blocks away (with its great surfing and kite surfing), you will be within walking distance to the iconic Cliff House restaurant (romantic spot to watch the sun set over the Pacific); the historic Beach Chalet and brewpub, (where Golden Gate Park meets the Pacific Ocean); Louis', the best panoramic ocean view diner in SF; and the Sutro Baths and Fort Miley hiking trails ... all within easy walking from my house!

This beautiful part of San Francisco is called Land's End...as we are on the edge of the Pacific Ocean. The house was built by Adolf Sutro as one of his guest cottages. The ruins of his mansion are 3 blocks away in beautiful Sutro Park overlooking the Sutro Baths and the blue Pacific. Explore the Baths and the hiking trails along the Pacific Ocean with breathtaking views of the Golden Gate Bridge, ride bikes in Golden Gate Park, surf the famed Ocean Beach break, hop on a bus and check out North Beach, Union Square, the Ferry Building or just put your feet up and relax in a quiet, bohemian SF beach neighborhood.
Come out and stay on the Left Coast, literally.

The Neighborhood

Quiet residential neighborhood filled with people who love living near the beach. Bonus: the close proximity to Land's End and the fabulous trails that skirt the bluffs above the sea. Easy access to / from both north and south of the city.

Getting around

2 and 3 blocks from 3 separate bus lines. Easy!

  • We enjoyed our stay at Laurie's place in San Fran! It was super convenient with parking (right by the house), location (right near the ocean), public transportation access (a few blocks away). Laurie was a great host, very thoughtful and considerate.

  • What a place to stay and what a hostess! My son and I stayed at Laurie's charming studio apt for two nights and had a wonderful time!! Laurie makes you feel right at home....she is like a concierge at a five star hotel!!!
Laurie knows the city intmately and can provide you inside info on everything. When I asked her recommendations on dining, she is a veritable expert. She has maps, what's happening guides, books, you name it to assist in planning your visit. There was beer, coffee, half and half, juice, granola for our use. She had fresh flowers out. She even offered fruit from her garden.
The location of her apt is in the Richmond District, near the ocean and close to some wonderful hiking at Lands End. She gave us great directions to get to the Fishermans Wharf area in a matter of a few minutes. Her apt is so cozy, with a view of her garden. I could have stayed for many more days. Having stayed in several Airbnb places, I would rate Laurie as the best host I have ever met!!

  • Best AirBnB experience we've had! Laurie was super-friendly and helpful - gave us everything we needed and even offered us her car (we didn't take her up on it)! The apartment was impeccable; incredibly well furnished, everything you'd need for a weeks stay and then some. Chocolate, wine, beer, toiletries, DVDs...and blazingly fast internet.

The location was PERFECT - two blocks from the pacific ocean and beautiful parks & beaches; very nice ($1m+ homes) neighborhood, very quiet and easy to sleep. Relatively easy access to two bus lines (2 or 3 blocks away), a ZipCar just around the block - we even managed to get an Uber ride to SFO at 3:30am (all the Lyft drivers were sleeping). It's a really quiet neighborhood and you won't see very many people on the streets, but it's convenient and beautiful; perfect for a vacation. It's a bit of a ride to downtown (via bus anyway), but that's exactly what we wanted on our vacation; grab the ZipCar if you're feeling a quick taco run, or take the bus if you're staying downtown all day.

If we ever make it to San Francisco we'll be back! This place was absolutely perfect - way better than we expected!

  • Our experience in the Laurie's home was amazing. The studio was so so nice, comfortable, clean and everything we were looking for. She prepared the studio with tea, milk, brownies, coffee. The location was perfect, really beautiful view, only a one block to the beach and the Golden Gate Park. So easy take a bus to the Downtown or another places of interest. About Laurie, what can i said? She Really is amazing, a really good person, friendly and nice, she cared for us and our confort all the time. We really suggest be part of this beautiful place.

    Thank you Laurie.

  • We loved staying in Laurie's studio apartment during our trip to San Francisco! It was adorable, well located, very clean, and Laurie is such a wonderful host. She really went above and beyond with the little details (brownies, fresh flowers, homemade muesli and and a fridge stocked with milk, juice, etc.). Laurie also provided plenty of maps and guides for the area. We were able to park right in front of the house, which was another bonus. Would love to stay again the next time I'm in town!

  • My in-laws stayed with Laurie and given their age and concerns, she really offered extra TLC to acquaint them with the place and make them feel at home. It was nice to know she was "keeping an eye" on them for my husband and me. The apartment itself was so comfortable for them and they really enjoyed how roomy it was.

  • This place was awesome, and the host was the best hostess I have seen. It is close to the beach, I had everything I needed and more. The neighbors even invited me out for a drink. It was close to all the great sites in San Fransciso and the weather was perfect. I left the windows open for the fresh air all week.

I will be booking it again!! I have told all of my friends....Peg

  • We had a wonderful stay in Lauries appartement in San Francisco. Laurie was super friendly and cute. The Appartement was absolutely clean, pretty large and we could find lots of maps and books about San Francisco in it. This was helpful for us, as this was our first stay on SF.
Thanks Laurie for this warm welcome with Brownies and Muesli :)

  • My wife and I had an absolutely phenomenal experience staying at Laurie's, not far from a neighborhood beach. We arrived on a rare day when SF was having a heat wave and as soon as our cruise ship docked, we called Laurie. Since she works from home, Laurie quickly returned the call and invited us to come over earlier since no one had stayed the prior night. When we arrived, we found a clean suite and that Laurie had baked an absolutely delicious coconut covered chocolate chip brownies and placed fresh flowers. The suite was larger than expected and we were able to set the temperature by simply keeping the door to the patio open just the right amount. We enjoyed late breakfasts in a relaxing private patio adjacent to the unit. It is evident that Laurie enjoys having quests and we would stay here again when in SF.

  • A wonderful place to stay! Cozy, clean & nicely furnished w/a cheery garden. The location is superb. You can walk to Lands End State Park, Sutro Baths w/amazing ocean views. The neighborhood is beautiful & quiet. Laurie is a considerate & attentive host. You can tell that she enjoys being a host as she had special "amenities" - fresh flowers, delicious coconut bars, homemade granola, beer & coffee. We want to stay here again.
