This beautiful part of San Francisco is called Land's End...as we are on the edge of the Pacific Ocean. The house was built by Adolf Sutro as one of his guest cottages. The ruins of his mansion are 3 blocks away in beautiful Sutro Park overlooking the Sutro Baths and the blue Pacific. Explore the Baths and the hiking trails along the Pacific Ocean with breathtaking views of the Golden Gate Bridge, ride bikes in Golden Gate Park, surf the famed Ocean Beach break, hop on a bus and check out North Beach, Union Square, the Ferry Building or just put your feet up and relax in a quiet SF beach neighborhood.
Come out and stay on the Left Coast, literally.
Quiet residential neighborhood filled with people who love living near the beach. Bonus: the close proximity to Land's End and the fabulous trails that skirt the bluffs above the sea. Easy access to / from both north and south of the city.
2 and 3 blocks from 3 separate bus lines. Easy
Guests enter and exit the private studio via my garage. My guests have their own set of keys to both the garage door and the studio door. There is a deck / patio in the back of the house my guests are encouraged to enjoy.
I invite you to interact with me as much or as little as you would like! The studio apt is on the lower level of my home, and I work from home. I enjoy getting to know my guests, offering ideas and suggestions of things to do, places to go, etc .... or stay out of the way and offer as much privacy as my guests desire.
Usually, free street parking is available directly in front of my house.
I'm excited for you to discover why I love living where I live. I am a 2-minute walk from the beach ... and I never tire of being mesmerized by waves. The Land's End Coastal Trail is a 5-minute walk away and it's a unique experience to run/hike it every single time - the weather changes the view, I meet new people and visit with the "regulars", find a new trail to discover something I hadn't seen before. Always invigorating! But there is no denying that this quiet residential neighborhood, with plenty of free parking, at the beach!, in one of the best cities in the world! is exactly where I belong.
Public transport by bus to take you anywhere in the city is a 5-minute walk from my home.
Other Things to Note
The studio is not equipped for cooking, nor do I own a microwave. If you wish to use my kitchen during your stay, please let me know, you are more than welcome to do so when I am home.
Absolutely NO SMOKING or drugs on property - please respect this rule. I do not want my home smelling of smoke.
Wow! Laurie is an amazing host from the homemade cookies and muesli to the lengths she goes to make her guests feel welcome.
Lori is an amazing host, very congenial, helpful, interesting to talk to, and she has a very charming home!
This is the perfect place to stay for your visit to San Francisco because it is central to so many interesting things to see. It is very close to Goldengate Park and the beach.
Lori is so nice and so friendly you will thoroughly enjoy her and your stay. She is genuinely interested in you and making your visit to San Francisco the best it can possibly be!
Laurie welcomed us with open arms! We were so excited to arrive and she was there with a big smile and chocolate chip cookies (awarded best cookies ever by my children). The studio is clean, inviting, and close to the Pacific. We spent each night on the beach watching the sunset, enjoying the surfers and just relaxing. Laurie was incredibly accommodating and asked in advance how she could make our stay even better. She had delicious granola, yogurt, milk and juice ready for us. This was a huge help especially on morning one. We can't wait to return. My children and I considered this a home away from home. Thank you for making our visit to San Francisco so special. Thank you for having us, Laurie!
Laurie was a great host. She welcomed us extraordinarly warmly. She also cared for some clothes that we accidently left and sent them back home to us.
The appartment is lovely, exactly AS described, with a nice terrace for breakfast. It is extraordinary good located with just a few steps to the cliffs providing a spectacular view over the pacific coastline or down to the beach. Downtown is easily accessible but far enough off to feel free from crowds and traffic jams. Laurie provided us with exzellent tips for dining and touring. We had time enough to went also north to See Muir woods Park and Stinton beach.
We definetively recommend this place and would love to come back.
Thank you so much for everything, Laurie!

Laurie was most hospitable and will do anything within her power to make your stay as comfortable as possible. She is readily available by text for any issues. We were in town for the Outside Lands music festival and had about a 1 mile walk to and from the event in Golden Gate park, a walk within reason for us. This was a great location for the festival and there was a supermarket 2 blocks away, the beach 2 blocks, and a couple of sandwich shops within walking distance.
We had private access to the home which made coming home late at night simple. We found the home to be just large enough for the two of us. We didn't need a full kitchen, though a couple of times a microwave could have been handy, but we were able to make do just fine without one. There is a small fridge which was good size for a few snacks for a few days. The kitchen area had a sink and was stocked with anything you could need. Laurie will even ask if she can stock anything for you like yogurt or milk or juice. Her homemade granola is delicious.
The bathroom was very cozy and the shower was nice and all marble. Water pressure was great. The bed area was also cozy and the bed was a queen size with a nice down comforter and very nice pillows. The living area had lots of seating. There was even a nice walk in closet to store clothes and luggage. There are also two drawers to put clothes in. The tv in the living area worked great. Oh yeah, there's a huge vase of chocolates below the tv. Yum!
My favorite part was the patio area. We enjoyed sitting outside and enjoying a cocktail or breakfast. Plenty of space.
The area is very quiet and was a nice change from our usual Union Square hotel. We would definitely stay here again.
Laurie is a great host - attentive and gave us great tips on how to get there as well as where to go, eat, etc. The place is cozy and has all essentials in case you forgot something. She even had home-made cookies and granola for us! There is a direct door to the backyard; unfortunately we didn't have much time to enjoy it and drink the local beers she gave us. The location is awesome and a 5-minute walk will get you to the beach and a park with great views of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Great experience! Laurie is an extraordinary hostess, and the studio is comfortable and well located.
About the Host, Laurie
I LOVE San Francisco!! I mean, I am IN LOVE with San Francisco!
I am not a native, but I have adopted this city as my own, and proudly call her my home.
Every time I drive, bicycle or run across the Golden Gate Bridge it feels like its the first time - it never gets old. The ever-changing weather makes for amazing ever-changing views and vistas. San Francisco is filled with great restaurants, bars, coffee shops and cafes, music venues, museums, parks, festivals, diverse neighborhoods, shopping and outdoor recreational opportunities. I feel incredibly fortunate to live at the beach, at Land’s End, yet still be just minutes away from the vibrant pulse of this city. Airbnb allows me to share all this with my guests from around the world -- Welcome!
