The space

This NON-SMOKING, quiet and private 1 bedroom studio (500+ sq.ft.) is a charming, peaceful hideaway 2 blocks from Ocean Beach, Golden Gate Park and Lands End. It has a queen-size bed tucked into a cozy yet spacious alcove, wet bar, dinette, small private bath (shower only), and living room with flat-screen tv. The self-contained studio is on the ground floor of my home with a secure, well lit, private street entry through my garage and access to the deck and patio in the back of the home. I hope the large sitting/living room makes you feel as comfortable as being in your own home. Enjoy the deck/patio, kick back and relax after a day of sightseeing, shopping in Union Square or biking across the Golden Gate Bridge, and take in the charm of this unique Ocean Beach neighborhood.

In addition to Ocean Beach just 2 blocks away (with its great surfing and kite surfing), you will be within walking distance to the iconic Cliff House restaurant (romantic spot to watch the sun set over the Pacific); the historic Beach Chalet and brewpub (where Golden Gate Park meets the Pacific Ocean); Louis' Diner (the best panoramic ocean view diner in SF); and the Sutro Baths and Fort Miley hiking trails ... all within easy walking from my house!

Here's what to expect:
1) Private, secure, well lit entry through my garage. Come and go as you wish; you have the key.
2) Queen-size bed with plush pillows, down comforter and quilt
3) Small private bathroom (toilet, sink, shower stall), fresh towels, soap and shampoo.
4) Wet bar with mini fridge and small dining table; electric water kettle, french press, coffee and teas, coffee creamer, milk, yogurt, orange juice and muesli/granola. There is no cooking permitted in the studio. You are welcome to use my kitchen (upstairs) whenever I am home.

6) Wireless, high speed internet.
7) Deck / patio with table for 2 and small garden.

This beautiful part of San Francisco is called Lands End; we are on the edge of the Pacific Ocean. The house was built by Adolf Sutro as one of his guest cottages. The ruins of his mansion are 3 blocks away in beautiful Sutro Park overlooking the Sutro Baths and the blue Pacific. Explore the Baths and the hiking trails along the Pacific Ocean with breathtaking views of the Golden Gate Bridge, ride bikes in Golden Gate Park, surf the famed Ocean Beach break, hop on a bus and check out North Beach, Union Square, the Ferry Building or just put your feet up and relax in a quiet SF beach neighborhood.
Come out and stay on the Left Coast, literally.

Quiet residential neighborhood filled with people who love living near the beach. Bonus: the close proximity to Lands End and the fabulous trails that skirt the bluffs above the sea. Easy access to / from both north and south of the city.

2 and 3 blocks from 3 separate bus lines. Easy

Guests enter and exit the private studio via my garage. My guests have their own set of keys to both the garage door and the studio door. There is a deck / patio in the back of the house my guests are encouraged to enjoy.

I invite you to interact with me as much or as little as you would like! The studio apt is on the lower level of my home, and I work from home. I enjoy getting to know my guests, offering ideas and suggestions of things to do, places to go, etc .... or stay out of the way and offer as much privacy as my guests desire.

Usually, free street parking is available directly in front of my house.

Guest access

Guests enter and exit the private studio via my garage. My guests have their own set of keys to both the garage door and the studio door. There is a deck / patio in the back of the house my guests are encouraged to enjoy.

Interaction with guests

You decide how much socialization or privacy you'd like. I am available to you in person or by phone/internet practically 24 hours a day. I live, and work from home Monday - Friday, on the level above the studio.

You will not find a better hostess than Laurie. When meeting her it was like seeing a long lost friend! Her space was impeccable, very charming, soothing, relaxing. There is absolutely no way you will regret staying here!

Laurie's place was perfect. She is very helpful with recommendations or anything that you could need. Communication was exceptional. She responded right away to any questions we had and stayed in contact with us during our week stay to make sure we had everything we needed. The location is beautiful and so close to great places to hike. The location is close to a bus stop but we just took an uber pool when we wanted to go downtown. About $10 depending on the time of day. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom is small but it has everything that you would need. I would recommend Laura's place to anyone who stays in SF.

we had a wonderful stay @ laurie's place - a super location and a lovely place to hang our hats after long days of exploring the area. we weren't far from biking the golden gate bridge (bay city biking), dining @ beach chalet @ ocean beach, and explored sutro bath and muir woods. we fit so much into our two night stay and wished we'd had longer. laurie's place was exactly as described - small and very warm and welcoming - exactly what we were looking for. we were unable to meet laurie but she made her friend was there to meet us and explain everything we needed to know. laurie made herself available by phone if we had any questions during our stay and her responses were always timely. thank you laurie .. and peggy ! a city/trip we won't soon forget.

This place is INCREDIBLE. If you're able to book it, book it! The space was bigger than I expected and everything was comfortable, clean, and nice. It felt like home. You are a 5-10 minute walk away from the beach and the neighborhood is quiet. Some of my favorite details included all the San Francisco travel guides, snacks that Laurie provided, the comfy living room, and the sweet patio outside. Also, Laurie is a dream host. She's so kind and welcoming and made sure our stay was great. I would definitely stay here again!

We had a great time staying at Laurie's place. She is a great host. We unfortunately did not get a chance to meet her as she was out of town but she was in constant communication with us making sure we were doing ok and offering up suggestions when we asked. Her place is in a GREAT location for doing all kinds of sightseeing. Dinner at the cliff house to watch the sunset was the highlight! She adds some nice touches to her place with everything from journals with entries from past guests with all kinds of helpful hints and suggestions, to providing lots of toiletries and comfy robes, and even left us homemade brownies upon our arrival. This is our first experience with Airbnb and it was an awesome one!

Laurie is a wonderful host! She made us feel welcome and at home, as if we were family. The studio offers so much privacy and comfort. The location is perfect! So close to the Ocean and Golden Gate Park, both just a walk away. The bus is a short walk to the rest of the city you will want to visit. Laurie adds so many extra touches to your stay, such as warm cookies, muffins, brownies and home made granola for your breakfast. We were celebrating our anniversary and she had roses and champagne waiting for us! We hope to visit her again one day.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND staying here. Laurie is the best! She gave us so many ideas on places to go and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Her place is very close to the beach and Golden Gate Park, which was a favorite of ours to walk around. You won't be disappointed.

I LOVE San Francisco!! I mean, I am IN LOVE with San Francisco!
I am not a native, but I have adopted this city as my own, and proudly call her my home.
Every time I drive, bicycle or run across the Golden Gate Bridge it feels like its the first time - it never gets old. The ever-changing weather makes for amazing ever-changing views and vistas. San Francisco is filled with great restaurants, bars, coffee shops and cafes, music venues, museums, parks, festivals, diverse neighborhoods, shopping and outdoor recreational opportunities. I feel incredibly fortunate to live at the beach, at Land’s End, yet still be just minutes away from the vibrant pulse of this city. Airbnb allows me to share all this with my guests from around the world -- Welcome!
