Isabelle and her family were amazing hosts!! The cottage was very clean and tidy, had everything you could possibly need to make a meal and was a cozy getaway from the cold with a beautiful wood-fired heater (which Andrew refilled everyday). The surrounding areas are absolutely beautiful and quiet. A wonderful place to stay!
We stayed with Isabelle Andrew and the family for one month, and a very enjoyable month it proved to be .Andrew and Isabelle are perfect hosts, they addressed all our domestic requirements which were nil in fact as the house is so well equipped and beautifully clean, we cooked the oven is brand new and served us very well. The little house is perfectly attired, towels and bedding perfect the bed is excellent, very comfortable. My partner and i were there for an entire month working in and around Cork Innishannon, proved to be the perfect location October/ November is cool time of year, we found the house warm and a delight to come home to, it was home. The property is a a wonder, the gardens i can only imagine what it would be like in the summer months. Innishannon is a delightful little village the roads around this area are well maintained and driving was a pleasure, food is amazing! we travel a lot and found the food in Cork and outlying villages excellent, Andrew's homemade Jam is great and they grow the most delicious vegetables. We will return if the opportunity arises, we loved our time there and were sad to leave... thank you so much you looked after us so well, we will return.
Our stay was so wonderful that I am struggling to put it into words here. When people ask about our trip, I find myself going on and on about Isabelle and her family, and their perfect cottage. People want to know what sights we saw and I just want to talk about our time here. It isn't the castles or the pubs or dramatic scenery that resonate after the trip has ended, but rather our simple time spent here. Before we got to the cottage, we stayed 2 nights in Dublin and afterwards, we spent 2 nights in Dingle. Those 4 nights were at hotels and just not enjoyable. Being a private person, I have always been a hotel traveler, but this trip has changed me.
We arrived as "renters" and left as family or long-lost friends. We spent a week at the cottage and every moment of it felt like home. It was just the right size for us (2 adults plus a toddler) and it was so relaxing and comfortable. On our first night we were welcomed with wonderful provisions to hold us over until we got to the grocery store. The surroundings are so peaceful and we loved all of the animals. I have never seen a horse from my window before!
Isabelle and Andrew were there for whatever we needed and were never in our way. They provided wonderful directions and advice when we asked for it.
I really could write several more pages, but you get the idea :) If you don't stay here, you are making a big mistake. I wish I could afford to come back for another visit! We will never forget our stay at Shippool Cottage. Eternal thanks for making such a memorable vacation for us!
Isabelle and her family were WONDERFUL hosts! I had such a great time and felt so welcomed. I highly recommend staying with them!
Before we came to Ireland I kept hearing how nice the people were in this country. And it’s true; you could not find nicer people that the Andrew and Isabelle, and their family. After a long drive and getting a bit lost we were graciously greeted much later that anticipated, with a warm welcome, accompanied by fresh bread and plate of smoked salmon. The cottage was perfect and prettier that the pictures. Fully furnished with a wonderful bathroom and kitchen, and the most comfortable bed we had had in the previous three weeks of traveling. The cabin is adjacent to a larger house situated on several acres along the beautiful Brandon River which is shared by a couple of horses, chickens (who provided us some excellent organic eggs for breakfast) quail, a friendly cat, and three wonderful dogs.(bring dog treats and you will quickly make friends with Jake).
This cottage is about 20 miles from Cork and situated perfectly for visits along the Irish coast, the city of Kinsale, several local historic sites and walking trails with indescribable scenery. Cork is a short drive and a great city for shopping, seeing several attractions, sampling the amazing food and markets, and visiting real Irish pubs.
I believe Andrew knows every road in Ireland, so he can direct you anywhere in the area. Staying at this cottage was the highlight of our trip and after the hospitality we received throughout the country, it took all we had not to change our flights and stay another week. We are already planning a return trip. Thank you again Isabelle and Andrew.
Isabelle and her husband were wonderful hosts. We were a warm welcome and they are attentive to us all our stay in their appartment.
We thank them for their piece of advice about our travel.
The house where we stayed was beautiful and very confortable. It was made with taste and attention.
We've loved our travel in this wonderful host country and we've loved discovered irish people.
Thank you both for your welcome (and for your jam !).
When we'll come back (for sure we will, espacially for Kinsale) we'll come back to their place again.
What a great cottage! Beautiful property. We had a very brief stay (just one night) but it was charming and very comfortable. Isabelle and Andy are great hosts; I would have enjoyed more time with them and on their property. Although breakfast was not prepared, there were fresh ingredients available for us in our own cute little kitchen.
The location was a small hike from Kinsale, but it probably seemed longer due to dark rainy night on unfamiliar skinny road.
I would highly recommend.
We had a wonderful stay with Isabel and Andrew. Their cottage, house and property are beautiful, and only a short drive from Kinsale and Cork. We could not have asked for anything more, we enjoyed eggs and fresh produce from the garden for breakfast, and had the quietest most peaceful sleep one could ask for - what a treat! Can't wait to return sometime!

My wife Joanie and I recently had the good fortune of staying at the Shippool Cottage with Isabelle and Andrew. It was a wonderful experience. The cottage is private, extremely clean and the hosts are all you could ask for. Andrew helped us use or short time well and suggested a number of sites to see in the area. Kinsale is close and easy to get to. I would highly recommend staying several days if possible. Our time was too short.
Wow what a lovely place and experience. It was the perfect place and everything was faultless. A short walk along the river and there was a magnificent spot for dinner. Isabelle and Andrew were the perfect hosts with a charming afternoon tea with the sun on your back surrounded by a beautiful view of the river and horses and dogs saying hello. Would love to go back. Many thanks for a wonderful afternoon and stay and great advice on where to visit. Really was a highlight of our stay in Ireland. Warmest regards Kevin and Ros
