The guesthouse has a living room on the ground floor with a pantry kitchen. On the 1st floor, there is a bedroom with an 'en suite' bathroom with bath.
The house is located on the Binnenpad, which is in the middle of the old town and known for its beautiful views.
A boat with outboard engine is available upon request.
-Indoor Swimming Pool, heated
-Free Parking available on the premises
-Free use of fully Automatic espressomachine
Giethoorn is in the middle of the nature reserve De wieden. An area also known as Waterreijk.
The old part of the village had no roads. Nowadays it does have a cycling path. All the transport was done by water, over one of the numerous canals.
About 7.5 km of canals run throughout the village of Giethoorn. They are only 1 meter deep.
The appartment is located on Binnenpad, which is the best possible location of Giethoorn, right in the middle of town, and in front of the main canal.
Giethoorn can be reached by Public Transport (Train + Bus). The busstop is about 700 meter from the appartment.
Our premises has direct access to the public roads and has a private parking.
Although I did not have the chance to meet Mario in person, his family is very nice and helpful. The house is cozy and the indoor pool, jacuzzi and sauna are impressive. It has been a memorable experience.
We were very happy with our choice to stay at Mario's guesthouse. It was great to use the Sauna and swimming pool after spending a long day outside touring around the beautiful village. Mario and his daughter were both very friendly to us. We really love the Netherlands a lot now, will definitely come back again;-)
Everything is great, location, parking, room, swimming pool and sauna although we don't have energy to use them after a really long traveling trip. Mario and his daughters are very friendly and talkative.
The apartment is really cute and cozy and the spa in the basement was amazing. We came with a 3 month old baby and had a great stay. However - lots of things could have and should have been better.
The main problem was the heating. It wasn't on when we got there and was only 14C. Several people came in to try and fix it but in the end I think my husband was the one who actually got it working. Basically - the apartment should have been heated before we arrived. It took several hours to heat up and we nearly gave up and drove back to Amsterdam!
The hot water for the bath never worked though and I was looking forward to having a lover bath with our baby as we don't have a tub where we live.
A couple of other things that were disappointing: Despite the jacuzzi being featured in the pictures - it was sadly broken. Also there were no cooking utensils at all so we had to knock on the door of the main house to get something to make ourselves breakfast.
The family were really very lovely and apologetic about the heating and the amazing swimming pool, sauna and cozy bed meant that we still had a wonderful time. The location of the place is also the BEST in the town. Really pretty. We will go back - but will call in advance to make sure it's warm enough!
I'm sure Mario and his family won't let this happen again.
Marco and his family are very nice and helpful. The house is lovely and comfortable, the spa area stunning, even nicer than in the pictures... I had a fantastic weekend in Giethoorn! The town is very cozy as well, many small bridges and nice houses. You can walk around or do a trip on a boat. I can also recommend going to the pub on a saturday evening where you can have a great time in dancing with locals to live music.
All in all, the guesthouse of Mario is the perfect place to be for a weekend of holiday!! Thank you so much !! I hope to come back one day....
