About this listing
This beautiful gem of a villa was recently renovated and completely furnished to top standards. The location is ideal -- just outside of Ubud and in the very desirable Sayan area (near the Four Seasons Hotel).
• two stories with a beautiful view and mature tropical garden
• one very large bedroom (queen bed, 180x200) and bath upstairs (rain shower with hot water) -- wrap around windows make it feel like you're sleeping in the treetops :)
• Large open deck, living and dining area downstairs overlooking the garden
• video room downstairs with fold-out spare bed, plus attached bath (shower with hot water)
• flat screen and DVD/CD player (but no satellite TV)
• fully equipped kitchen with stove & oven, large refrigerator/freezer
• a sitting/yoga bale in the garden
• air conditioning in the bedroom and TV room
• fans in all living areas
The house is suitable for a single or couple. I regret we can't accept young children because of the drop from the deck. The price includes daily basic housekeeping service and all utilities. Bedroom and TV room doors are lockable. There is a housekeeper/gardener/security person who lives in the complex. It is a very safe location, in a quiet complex of 4 houses. There is a local laundry nearby and we can help arrange that service. Covered parking. There is a good grocery store on the near outskirts of Ubud, two weekly organic farmers markets, and many excellent restaurants.
July and August are the peak months for visitors to Bali (and Ubud) for good reasons: the weather is gloriously sunny during the day, cool in the evenings, and there is very little rain. During these two months, the MINIMUM BOOKING IS THREE NIGHTS.
I will be happy to arrange airport pick up or drop off with a local driver. Their standard airport transport fee is Rp 300,000 (around US$30) each way.
Traveling with friends? Tropical Colonial Villa (on Airbnb) is located next door -- together they make a great pair!
The house rules are pretty simple:
1. Please treat our home as you would like visitors to treat yours.
2. Smoking is not permitted.
3. Quiet hours from 10pm to 6am are strictly enforced -- we like our neighbors.
A path of petals welcomed us to our villa, which is nestled in its well kept garden, and boasts of a slew of views-- a river, the rice fields and a tree canopy.
Wayan, his beautiful family and Dewa, our driver turned friend made sure that we were very well taken cared of.
We will really miss mornings at Jackie's - - walking up to the sound of birds, squirrels, crickets singing to the morning rain. The home provided us the vibe and balance we were both looking for. We really enjoyed and appreciated just being in each other's company.
Thank you again for having us in your beautiful home, Jackie. We hope to be back and finally meet you when we do.
Nice & quiet place to stay in Ubud. Bungalow has everything you need to feel at home.
Would surely be back on day !
The host canceled this reservation the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
I had wonderful week at Jackie's villa. It was perfect for what I needed - removed from the hustle and bustle with only the sounds of the jungle to disturb the silence. Jackie was brilliant in terms of communicating and all logistics were superb. Her housekeeper, Wayan, is just lovely and so helpful. Jackie's little guide she offers about restaurants is seriously spot-on (probably publishable!) and the bed is, well, heavenly - and I'm fussy about beds.
Thank you so much, Jackie. I can't wait to come back.
Jackie is a very informative host and quickly answered any questions I had before arrival and arranged a car to pick me up in Seminyak. There were no issues at all during my stay, but if there were Wayan, the general helper, would have solved them immediately. I initially intended to rent a motorbike, but after informing Wayan I had never driven one, he offered to drop me in Ubud anytime. He is a cautious driver and charged so little for his service I had no choice but to give him a VERY well deserved tip.
We had a wonderful month at Jackie's place outside Ubud. It was nice to have a full kitchen, and private house. Having Wayan living just by the front gate to the house was also a great bonus. Wayan and his family are so sweet and always friendly. Whenever we had any questions or problems there was always someone around to help find an answer.
Wayan helped us to rent a motorbike from one of the neighbors and that made a big difference for us. With the motorbike we were able to quickly ride into Ubud center and do some shopping or head to Bintang SuperMarket.
Dewa is a great driver and it was so nice to have him meet us at the airport and bring us directly to the house.
Don't get me wrong, it's always nice to come home. But waking up this morning in my normal sized bed, in my London basement flat, I just couldn't make it quite compare to the early morning sounds of Balinese wildlife, or stretching out in a gigantic four poster bed with the sun gently peeping through the drapes. Suffice to say, Jackie's villa is pretty wonderful. The terrace, overlooking a river gorge and rice fields in the distance, is one of the loveliest places I've ever been lucky enough to sit and while away the day.
In terms of practicalities, Jackie was an incredibly good host. She was very responsive and helpful over email, and called once we had arrived to check we were settling in. Wayan is always on hand if you have an questions or need anything.
The driver who picked us up from the airport, Dewa, turned out to be a super friendly guide to the island and really made our holiday.
The location of the house is great if you like to be a bit out of the bustle, and don't mind using a driver to go to dinner in the evening. We did try to walk into Ubud one morning, but I would only recommend it if you don't have somewhere to be. It's a lovely walk, but takes longer than you think and it's a fairly sweaty affair if you're in a rush.
Overall, I would highly recommend the villa to anyone considering a trip to Bali!

About the Host, Jackie
I came to Indonesia over 20 years ago on a 1-year contract with 2 suitcases, and have been here ever since. I work with rural communities to help them develop better livelihoods. And I'm incredibly lucky to base myself in one of the world's most beautiful places.
