We've gotten great press - most recently from Thrillist "10 Insanely Awesome Farm Activities You can Drive To" ; Bon Appetit's Food Traveler as Top 25 Foods Farms & Flavors Tourism Destination ; NOFA's summer newsletter; and a wonderful blog post from NewYorkCityFamily.
You are guests on a working farm with cattle, pigs, lambs, goats, ducks, geese, chickens, guinea hens, rabbits, border collies and livestock guardian dogs AND all the sights, sounds and aromas that go with a working farm. Please note that meals, including breakfast, are not included. Breakfast at Fable is included for additional fee.
No pets allowed on the farm. We love dogs (we have 10) but because the livestock guardian dogs work hard day and night to protect our livestock, your pet would be considered a threat to them and is not safe on our farm.
This cabin was lovely, and the trip was better than expected. My wife and I, together with our two young sons, came here for one night, just as a getaway. The cabin is very private, and stocked with everything you can possibly need, including for the fire pit. There's a little stream in front of the cabin, and we awoke to the soft rustling of its water. It was really a magical little getaway. We would come here again in a heartbeat.
It's beginning to feel like family - second visit up to the cabin, this time shared with my partner and a very dear friend. Word will keep going round amongst our circle of friends and family as we continue to direct those we care about and love to Denise, Tom, and Shane's farm. This time we were lucky to meet everyone in person, including a few more turkeys we didn't see last time.
We loved loved loved everything about our stay: the charming, rustic cabin....the warm, inviting atmosphere cultivated by Denise and Tom....the chance to help Susannah with chores and enjoy an amazingly delicious meal. This is an ideal getaway for those looking for a unique, down-to-earth, memory-making experience. Can't wait to go back next year!
Denise met us at the gates to Stone and Thistle and was more than gracious from there on.
My partner and I were going to a concert and it looked like rain, she provided us with ponchos for the evening which was amazing and above and beyond the call of air b n b duty.
I'd stay at this place again anytime.
My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights and absolutely loved it! The cabin was so cozy and had everything we needed. There's a small river that runs in front of the cabin and you can hear the rolling waters while sitting on the porch...its very serene. Denise and Tom are very kind and accommodating and are there if you need a question answered, they respect your own time there and offer much privacy at the cabin. This farm just works. One needs little instruction and planning for it to be a very nice simple time. We'll definitely be back for a visit. That guardian dogs are a major plus! They're so sweet and intelligent- a true pleasure to see these animals working the farm in complete bliss! Thanks!
Sweet little cabin situated in gorgeous country. Hosts are super cool and friendly and warm. Very quiet, peaceful and relaxing - the kind of place to reconnect with nature. The experience is akin to "glamping" in the best possible sense; it's a fairly rustic setup, but you have everything you need including a thoughtful array of goodies for breakfast. Would definitely return.

The perfect place to relax, eat well and be in communion with nature. About the Host, Denise, Shane And Tom
Farm owner with husband Tom Warren and son Shane of Stone & Thistle Farm, a grass based livestock farm, Kortright Creek Creamery, a goat dairy and small creamery and Fable=farm+table - a seasonal on-farm restaurant. We are passionate about farming, great food and sharing with our community. Our busiest time of the year is May to October when we do farmers markets, farm tours, dinners and brunch and Fable, farm events, farm chores, projects, building, repairing, vetting, gardening - but we are never too busy to meet new people and learn something new and different. As a guest on our farm, you can participate in farm chores or relax on the farm, eat great farm fresh food, enjoy nearby hiking, swimming, skiing or shopping for books, antiques, visiting farmers markets, museums or state parks.
