House Rules

You are guests on a working farm with cattle, pigs, lambs, goats, ducks, geese, chickens, guinea hens, rabbits, border collies and livestock guardian dogs AND all the sights, sounds and aromas that go with a working farm. Please note that meals, including breakfast, are not included. Breakfast at Fable is included for additional fee.

Check in is 3 - 9pm. We are a small, working farm. Late arrivals are very disruptive. We wake up before sunrise, so we go to bed early. There is a $35 late arrival fee for arrivals after 10pm. If you get delayed in traffic or lost, we would appreciate a call or email to let us know your arrival time.
No pets allowed on the farm. We love dogs (we have 8) but because the livestock guardian dogs work hard day and night to protect our livestock, your pet would be considered a threat to them and is not safe on our farm.

Such a beautiful place, especially one if your looking to get away and just be. A few breweries such as Ommegang only about 25-30 minutes away if you looking to get out. We made some great campfire chilli with their fresh farm chicken and the property is beautiful to explore and see all the animals.

I’m saddened that it is time to write this review because it means that our first trip to this magical farm is over. It only took a spur-of-the-moment weekend getaway to easily make this the best vacation my boyfriend and I have ever been on. From start to finish, the Warren’s farm exceeded our expectations in every category. The cabin is nestled next to a gentle stream, secluded just enough to be part of the daily happenings while grabbing some quality R&R (I personally suggest spending your time exploring the farm, however!). We opted for a five-course dinner from Fable delivered to the cabin, a hot breakfast, and the Farmer for a Day experience to really make the most of our short trip. The meals crafted solely from fresh ingredients grown on their farm and other local farms were delightful, made even better by the backdrops of the modern-yet-cozy design of Fable (breakfast + FFAD lunch) and a stunning sunset with horses grazing in the pasture (dinner). FFAD was a perfect way to get a tour of the farm, educated yourself on farming techniques, meet all the cheerful animals, and take in the stunning views of the seemingly endless pastures. We spent nearly all our free time (when we weren’t enjoying the campfire in the evenings) wandering the property – and we didn’t do it alone! The guardian dogs ventured with us through the wide-open fields bustling with chickens, down past the beautiful farmhouse and goat barn, and deep into the woods where we came across the horses going for an afternoon stroll. Yet, our favorite part of the whole experience was our interactions with Denise, Shane, and Tom. Their vibrant love for their farm and the life they built shines in everything they do and is most certainly contagious. When you stay here, you’re not just booking any old hotel room for the sake of a place to sleep…you’re booking everything you need for a fabulous vacation. Gorgeous views, tasty food, ample activities, and plentiful hospitality – this has it all!

Thank you for the thoughtful and glowing review. We would love you to come back sometime - perhaps next summer for a short stay and we will put you to work in exchange for lodging and food. Or just come back and relax and meet the new year's crop of animals.

What can I say other than this cabin is one of, if not the most, charming place I've ever had the pleasure of staying. The cabin is nestled on a lush corner of the property within the gates of the farm alongside a peaceful stream. Every morning we woke up to free-roaming goats and horses right outside our cabin door. For the animal and nature lover, this place is magical. The cabin has the basics that you need to enjoy a relaxing stay away from the modern day distractions. The cabin is clean and Denise was a great host. I'd advise to reserve a seat at their farm to table restaurant Fable, which was a real treat on our last night there. From start to finish, we left incredibly satisfied and our whole stay exceeded all of our expectations. Can't wait to return.

This farm is super friendly, all animals will approach you and like being petted. It's quiet at nice which is nice for a trip out of the cities. Bring flip flops to shower in and some boots for hiking in the area!

This cabin is so lovely. It's in a beautiful location near a creek. The cabin is comfortable and there's plenty of outdoor seating and a fire pit. The friendly animals on the farm were a pleasant surprise! Highly recommend.

We enjoyed our weekend unplugging and staying in a very comfortable yet basic one room cabin. Loved hearing the constant babble of the stream right outside. The outside solar "heated" shower was invigorating. :) Loved the farm life and all the animals. Had a very nice time sharing a family style dinner in Fable with other diners. Day trips to nearby Oneonta and Cooperstown. We will most likely be staying again, maybe for a full week.

Denise, Shane and Tom have such a lovely farm and home, and it was such a pleasure to be perched on a nice secluded little edge of that. The Farmhand Cabin was the perfect getaway from the city. Situated on the edge of a babbling brook that chatters away all day and night, you will get visits from friendly horses and dogs, walk a little further and you can have a great chat with some pigs, goats and sheep. Pick up some sausages, pork chops and eggs and cook yourself a wonderful dinner over an open fire under the stars. Would highly recommend this trip to any and all with half a mind to listen, and will do just that!

Farm owner with husband Tom Warren and son Shane of Stone & Thistle Farm, a grass based livestock farm, Kortright Creek Creamery, a goat dairy and small creamery and Fable=farm+table - a seasonal on-farm restaurant. We are passionate about farming, great food and sharing with our community. Our busiest time of the year is May to October when we do farmers markets, farm tours, dinners, events along with daily farm chores, gardening and projects. During the winter we do simpler farm chores, repair fences, machinery and spend time after dark next to the fire reading or playing board games and watching movies. Regardless of the time of year, we are never too busy to meet new people and learn something new and different. What's most important to us? Good food, good friends and a loving family.
