The Space

The Farmhand Cabin is located on a working livestock farm a short distance from the farmhouse overlooking Kortright Creek. The one-room cabin is 10 feet by 11 feet and accommodates up to two adults and two small children. To accommodate additional persons, a tent is provided with advance notice or bring your own. The Cabin is heated and equipped with electricity. It includes a refrigerator, hot plate, microwave and outdoor grill and fire pit for cooking. The Cabin has an outdoor solar shower, wash sink and compost toilet.

Includes cold breakfast of juice, milk, yogurt, granola and hard boiled eggs - all from the farm. Other meals are self prepared or opt for a hot farmstead breakfast served at Fable for $15 per adult and $8 per child (9 and under). Meats, cheese, dairy and produce available in the farm's store.

“Morning Tour & Chores”, following breakfast (1 1/2 to 2 hours), is $30 per family and Farmer for A Day, a half-day farm adventure, is $200 for up to four people. Other farm programs include butchering, cooking and eating workshops. See website (website hidden) for details. All programs require 24 hours or more advance notice and reservations.
Dinner is served at Fable = a farm + table culinary experience on Saturday nights in the farmhouse’s modern addition. The menu features the best of the farm’s meats, dairy and produce. A five-course dinner costs $35 to $50 per person. The prix-fixe menu is available on the website. The farm tour and brunch are on Sundays from Memorial Day to Columbus Day. The cost is $20 per person; children 9 and under are half price. Reservations are required. With at least one day advance notice, a private dinner basket can be delivered to the cabin for $35 for three courses or $50 for five courses (wine included in five-course option) per person.

Guest Access

Wander the farm and talk to the animals. Splash in the stream, swing on the hammock, bike the country roads. Swimming, fishing, hiking and picnicing at Hartwick College's Pine Lake environmental center - 5 minute car ride from farm.

Interaction with Guests

A farmer or farmhand is always available to answer your questions, make recommendations for off-farm activities and to make your on farm experience safe and fun.

The Neighborhood

The farm is one of three working farms on a quiet country road. The farm has a farm store and on-farm restaurant, Fable - gems in the middle of nowhere!

Getting Around

Horse or wheels (bike or car) needed to get around.

Other Things to Note

Unplug. Limited cell service. No television reception.

Two-night stay required on holiday weekends.

Google maps or other GPS may take you to us via an obscure and hard to drive route especially in the dark. Please ask us for driving directions.

We've gotten great press - most recently from Thrillist "10 Insanely Awesome Farm Activities You can Drive To" ; Bon Appetit's Food Traveler as Top 25 Foods Farms & Flavors Tourism Destination ; NOFA's summer newsletter; and a wonderful blog post from NewYorkCityFamily.

House Rules

You are guests on a working farm with cattle, pigs, lambs, goats, ducks, geese, chickens, guinea hens, rabbits, border collies and livestock guardian dogs AND all the sights, sounds and aromas that go with a working farm. Please note that meals, including breakfast, are not included. Breakfast at Fable is included for additional fee.
No pets allowed on the farm. We love dogs (we have 10) but because the livestock guardian dogs work hard day and night to protect our livestock, your pet would be considered a threat to them and is not safe on our farm.
