House was very well stocked - with beer, wine, snacks and other goodies. House was much bigger than we anticipated and downstairs has a pool table and big couch. The house is VERY well kept and the details are really nice, especially for a rental by the beach. Everything was right where we needed it to be - from chairs, blankets, and a wagon to the beach to the wonderful porch outside for watching the sunsets and grilling, we truly enjoyed everything this house had to offer. Beach itself was super empty - felt private during the weekdays and even on weekends (we went in July) it was just a few chairs and umbrellas. You should know that the beach itself is a bit rocky (as are most beaches on the sound). We were expecting this but a lot of others may not. There is still sand, but it is tough on bare feet by the shoreline.
The town of Greenport and amazing restaurants are within a 10 minute drive and the farm stands and wineries are absolutely incredible. I highly recommend stopping and getting local ingredients and cooking a meal with whatever you find. The kitchen is outstanding and totally stocked with everything you'd need, pots, pans, knives, serving trays, a blender, pyrex bowls, etc. etc. Really awesome kitchen.
Mary, the owner, was extremely accommodating and let us bring our dog who really enjoyed the daily walks on the beach. Mary lives right next door, so when we ran out of paper towels, she was there to drop them off instantly. The bathrooms and bedrooms are immaculate and there is a ton of closet space - the walk-in closet was super nice as my wife was able to unpack and not live out of her suitcase. Mary has been living on the North Fork since she was little so if you're not familiar with the area when you arrive she is a great resource.
Our ONLY complaint was that there was a good amount of work being done to the house when we were there -- which ordinarily would be a good thing -- you know the house is in mint condition - but we chose the North Fork because it was super quiet and relaxing. There was a TV/Entertainment system delivered downstairs as we were getting ready for dinner and it was loud. Took about an hour with 2 workers. Then, there was a tree supposedly being planted (we didn't see this but Mary asked us if it was OK). And then there were workers cutting the lawn, etc. Mary was very polite about it all and I bet if we had said that we'd rather it not happen now she would've accommodated us but she was so friendly, we didn't want to be rude.
If I could give the house 4.5 stars, I would, but it only allows full stars, so that's why the one star off. We really enjoyed our experience and will surely be back.
