Both pet friendly cottages offer a unique off mountain experience for those adventurous souls who don't want to stay in a hotel. We have a beautiful hill top setting and a great outdoor hot tub that over looks a stream in beautiful northern Vermont!
Sheady Acres is twenty-five acres of alpine meadows and wooded hills located between Jay Peak and Montgomery Center. Our hilltop southern exposure gives you one of the best sunsets in town, as well as maximum light for any of the many activities our location offers. An eighteen hole disc golf course is located on the property, while cross-country skiing, hiking, swimming in our onsite Jay Brook and world-class mountain and road biking are right outside your door. Jay Peak offers a championship eighteen-hole golf course in the summer and the deepest powder skiing on the east coast in the winter. We offer discounted ski passes. You will not run out of things to do, no matter the duration of your stay.
The Cottages at Sheady Acres:
Sheady Acres leads into one of the most unspoiled areas in the country, the Northeast Kingdom. Although there are many activities in the area, the main attraction continues to be the great expanses of natural habitat that exist in the region. Jay Peak Ski Area is five miles away. Stowe, Burlington and Montreal are all less than one and a half hours away. Our Cottages were designed with the savvy traveler in mind, outfitted with a fridge/freezer, convection oven, microwave and full compliment of dishware and kitchen amenities (coffee machine, blender…). Our cottages accommodate 4 people comfortably, providing ecologically sound queen size New Englander pillow top mattresses, flat screen satellite television, and wireless internet. On-demand hot water and adjustable propane heat will keep you warm on those cold north country nights. Our Irish Farmhouse and Adobe are 2 stories, sleeping up to 4. Locally owned and operated, your hosts are knowledgeable about all things Vermont. These Cottages have been a labor of love, and we hope you enjoy them as much as we’ve enjoyed creating them.
The "Irish Farmhouse" is 2 stories of comfort, pet friendly, and sleeps up to 4. You will find the view from your queen sized bed on the second story quite to your liking as you watch the sun set over the Cold Hollows. Electric fire place upstairs to keep extra warm. There is also a futon downstairs for family/friends. A full kitchen, bar, and covered porch leave plenty of room for your group to relax in style. Recycled barn beams, locally crafted works of art and cedar throughout make the Farmhouse great place to kick back, pour yourself a Guinness, and enjoy life. Sláinte! However, for those bringing pet(s) there will be an additional one time pet fee of $30 due upon arrival plus tax. Pets must be treated for fleas properly before arrival.
The "Adobe" is 2 stories, sleeps 4 and is pet friendly. Hemlock timbers hand-hewed from rough logs and stained to perfect Sedona red provide the skeleton of this "Eastern Adobe". Natural cedar and earth tone interiors blend with heated Mexican tile and southwestern artwork to create a desert environment worth of Santa Fe. From the outside you may think Clint Eastwood himself is inside drinking cowboy coffee before he hits the slopes. The Adobe has a Queen sized bed in its oversized loft with rollling views into the valley. The Queen sized sleeper sofa downstairs also sleeps a couple more buckaroos. The kitchen has everything you need to round up the troops when the chuckwagon bell sounds. This may be the first and last chance to stay in a true Adobe east of the Mississippi. The place was great! Really near the ski resort! Eamon and Shawna were great hosts, the place was clean and had everything we needed, the tub was a great plus.
Eamon and Shawna were great hosts. The adobe cottage was perfect for our group, and the separate hot tub gondola was a plus. Overall, great place to stay for a quick ski trip up to Jay Peak. Very convenient and a unique experience all-around.
My wife and I stayed in the Adobe Cottage for our 5th year wedding anniversary and we enjoyed it. It was really peacefull and quite, that's what we were looking for. Shawna and Eamon were really nice to us and took the time to tell us everything we needed to know. Eamon suggested nice routes to go with our bikes and we loved the scenery. It's a nice place to go biking, every cyclist can find what he's looking for, from easy trail to hard inclined trails. Thank you very much you guys for your hospitality, we hope to come back with all the family. But i'm wondering if Shawna went to Burlington and bought the FLY London shoes ;-))) take care guys...
‘That was colossal. Fabulous,’ said my 11-year-old daughter after our stay at Shéady Acres. We stayed in the utterly charming Irish Farm House, built (as the other three cottages) by Eamon with loving attention to detail. The basics are ably covered, the amenities are pretty sweet — hot tub, barbecue grill, two dozen acres of forest to wander, play, and make a campfire in — and Eamon and Shawna are delightful, accommodating hosts.
Under their guidance, I got to split fire logs for the first time in my life. My 6-year-old son got to take his first trail through mountain woods to a swimming hole. We were directed to spots you might miss for the tourist traps (Smuggler’s Notch, Laughing Moon Chocolates in Stowe, the Prohibition Pig bar & restaurant in Waterbury — and their barbecue sauce). And of course we got expert guidance on the dizzying selection of Vermont beers.
We could not have asked for better. As my daughter would say: totes amahzing, deffo recommend!

Shéady Acres started over 11 years ago when I purchased 25 acres of prime meadow and woodlands on Rte 242 in Montgomery Center, Vermont. A treehouse was my first endeavor where I lived for a few years. The West was calling my name, however, so I spent a few winters in Winter Park, Co and Jackson Hole, WY always returning in the spring to my first love, Vermont.
My wife, Shawna and I, met in Winter Park and have two lovely daughter's who are 5 years and 1 1/2 years old. We have a home that I built on Shéady Acres and I’ve been in the carpentry/ construction business for over 10 years. I dabble with pencil drawings and started focusing on cottages that I could design and build myself and rent to visitors who come to the Jay Peak Area. Having traveled to different parts of the world, I came up with The Sugar House which is pure Vermont, the Caribe which is my interpretation of the Caribbean cottage and the Tea House which is my take on the Japanese P(website hidden).
Shéady Acres Cottages have been a labor of love and an expression of creativity that we sincerely hope will be shared by those who come to visit us. Give us a try. We look forward to hearing from you.
