My sweet and cozy jr one bedroom apt has tons of sunlight and access to all of Brooklyn's best! 1 block from the F&G train and within walking distance to all major subway lines, this private bedroom can transform into your ideal urban oasis!
Why stay at a hostel when you could stay in the best neighborhood in all of New York City?!
Cute, cozy, 1 bedroom apt in quaint Brooklyn neighborhood to share for short term stays -1 person is preferable though ideal for couples as well. (In special cases, we can make room for a third person as well.) Located on the 3rd floor walk-up in an old prewar building with tons of character. Good situation for a person who is new to NYC looking for cheap place to stay that is more private and homey than a hostel or someone moving to NY and looking for a home base while you look for something more permanent or someone here for short term work/business.
The apartment is small with separate rooms for bedroom and living room. I stay in the couch in living room. The rooms are adjoined so you will need to walk through the living room to get to kitchen and bathroom, so it is not 100% private for me, though it is 100% private bedroom for you. I have plenty of towels, linens, blankets, etc.
You will have your own keys and open to come and go as you please and have as much coffee and tea as you would like, of course in addition to access of all kitchen goods. Very laid back, open minded, liberal and quiet environment.
$68/ a night. $150 security deposit needed. Open to stays from 1 night to 4 weeks, possibly longer, pending availability. Also, no smoking in apartment, though outside is okay.
(Not ideal for bringing overnight guests, considering the size of apartment and that I would also be there also.)
HDTV w/ Roku
Laundry Room in building
I am a low key 29 year-old working professional. I am originally from CA but have been out here for 8 years, which I believe qualifies me to proclaim that I am a New Yorker! When I am not working (which I do quite a bit), I am at the gym, exploring new coffee shops, dining and drinking with friends, or trying to enjoy a classic NYC experience! I work as a school leader for a charter school and work long hours 7 days/week, so I am up early and not around much. Other than when I am sleeping and getting ready for the day, you will have the entire apartment to yourself for the majority of your stay!
I would love to share my sunny apartment with any kind, quiet, financially responsible person who needs a temporary place to stay. Looking forward to meeting you!
The neighborhood cannot be matched! Apt is 1.5 blocks from the F/G train, steps to Smith Street, and close to a ton of hip bars, quaint coffee shops, fun restaurants and interesting boutiques. Apt is clean, has a fully equipped kitchen, HDTV with Roku, A/c, heat, and wireless internet. Apt is located on 3rd floor of well maintained walk up building. Walking distance to Brooklyn Heights, Park Slope, Boerum Hill, Fort Greene, Dumbo and just a few stops (10 minutes or less) from both Willliamsburg and Manhattan on the train.
Depending on the train you take, my apartment is within just 1-2 stops from Manhattan! Every major train is within walking distance - F, G, R, A/C, 2, 3, 4 and tons of buses! Trader Joes, YMCA, NYSC and a ton of eateries are within steps of my apartment!

I travelled to NYC to visit my daughter who was on a short sabbatical but when she returned back to the UK, I decided to stay on and find myself somewhere safe and convenient to stay and to explore NYC as a single woman in the Big Apple.
I couldn't have chosen a better host or more convenient, safe and comfortable place.
Lisa's apartment was small but clean, warm (it was minus 3 celsius outside!) and well-equiped. It was easy to make arrangements to meet on my arrival and she greeted me with a warm welcome (even helping me to carry my bags up the stairs). Lisa kindly left me fruit and bottled water as an arrival "hello" before dashing out. She's a busy professional so I didn't see much of her for the rest of my eight night stay. Most of the time it was like having my own apartment in Brooklyn! Lisa gave me my own wardrobe space, drawers and more-than-enough shelves in the bedroom as well as shelves and fridge space of my own in the kitchen and lots of space in the bathroom too. There was plenty of privacy - although we were both out for the majority of time ...
The area is "real" NYC with a sense of community and numerous subway connections to Manhattan. Try walking over nearby Brooklyn Bridge to South Manhattan and visiting Century 21! Or stroll along Brooklyn Bridge promenade at sunset - the view of the Statue of Liberty and the Bridge is lovely.
It's easy to get to JFK from here too. Go via Atlantic Avenue subway which is nearby and go straight to the Jamaica stop by overland train from this subway, then the sky fly to the airport. It cost 15 dollars compared to $55 by taxi from JFK to Brooklyn on arrival.
I really recommend staying with Lisa and would stay again, without question. I love older style architecture and especially liked the marble entrance hall, marble stairs and cast iron balustrading and stair rail up to her apartment as well as the wooden floors in her sitting room and bedroom. It should be "cozy, cute, convenient and chic" but all with lower case letters because it's all on a small scale!
By the way, the bed was really comfortable and neatly dressed. Very chic!
Thanks so much for your welcome, Lisa!
Lisa was a great host!
First try with airbnb and totally TOP!
She welcomed us lovely with a sweet letter, answered our very many questions and even left the apartment for a few days so that we had the entire apartment for ourselves! Had a great time with Netflix aswell when we were too tired from walking through the city! The location is great, almost all subways stops are walking distances away and cute Brooklyn cafes and boutiques are just around the corner. The room is not too big but definitely enough for sleeping and storing all the clothes even if you shop a lot its still going to fit. She is a lovely person and laughs a lot! It all made our 10-day NYC experience unforgivable!
All the best Lisa!
(Marie) and Katharina
Great place to stay. Thanks to Lisa for making my first visit to New York such a great experience. Nice, clean, and comfortable room; very convenient location; and one of the greatest hosts I've ever met.
The title fits perfectly to the appartment! It is cozy, cute and convenient. And very very clean! Close to supermarket, cinema, restaurants and bars. I really enjoyed my stay there! The neighbourhood is very nice, relativaly close to manhattan by metro. Lisa is very nice person and hostess. Also I recommend Brooklyn shuttle to take you to the airport only 17$ to JFK. Brooklyn Shuttle
Lisa fue muy amable y atenta. El departamento es pequeño, en mi opinion no es para tres personas como decia el aviso.
Thank you so much for the feedback, Carolina! You are absolutely right - the apartment is best suited for 1-2 visitors. I am so sorry that you felt like it was too small to accomodate you all. I have updated my listing to reflect your thoughts. Thanks again for staying with me and for sharing your feedback!
Absolutely the best hostess anytime anywhere! The directions were totally clear and the apartment was sparkling clean and super cute. Lisa made me feel like I was in my home I was that comfortable! I am going back in the fall and hope to stay with Lisa again.
I had such a great time in beautiful Cobble Hill/Boerum Hill, thanks to Lisa! Her warmth, her kindness ( and her patience with me and my bad english...) gave a human touch to my trip. I would recommend this "cute and cozy nook" to anybody who wants to feel and vibrate with Brooklyn and the Big Apple. For me, it was just perfect!
Sébastien, from Montreal.
We had a really nice stay at Lisa´s appartment. It is really conveniently situated next to the subway a few stops away from Manhattan. Lisa was really nice and we felt home right away.
Our experience at Lisa's place was great!
The apartment was clean and cozy, near to the subway (5 minutes walk) and to restaurant and Starbucks. The location is very good, in about 15 minutes of metro you are in Manhattan (20 minutes for Times Square). Even though Lisa was not at home during our stay, she has always written to me to ask if we needed something...she looks very kind!
I highly recommend this place ... it will be a very beautiful experience in this fabulous city!
Thank you again Lisa!
