We love Air BnB and have traveled across the U.S. staying in lovely people's homes. So we are thrilled to offer a very private room with a private entrance and private bath in our Victorian cottage (built in 1904) in the Houston Heights, an area just minutes from downtown. The sweet room has its own private courtyard for relaxing in Houston's balmy nights. The room also features a mini fridge, a microwave, full cable TV (HBO and SHOWTIME), and coffeepot -- everything you need for your home away from home. Laundry facilities are available. We value your privacy and the room is set up so that you can come and go through your own private entrance without ever seeing us, though we would love to spend time with anyone who visits!
We are long time Houston residents and can offer lots of help finding places for eating, running, taking in the arts, and just about anything you might want to do in H-town. The Heights is inside the loop and one of Houston's oldest neighborhoods, with lots of hundred year old homes and great restaurants and charming shops. The famous Galleria is less than 15 minutes away and downtown is literally a mile and a half miles from our home. Museums and the theater district are a ten minute drive. Most sports arenas are downtown and the Reliant Stadium is a fifteen minute spin around the loop.
Bus or train can take you downtown, though Houston is not known for its good public transportation. But we offer lots of off-street parking.
Our room offers a quiet retreat, a very comfy bed and loads of historical charm! There is also a very good sleeping mat for a child.
We love our animals and have three dogs who DON'T go into the guest room and two cats who live on the porch. Let our home be your home during your stay in Houston!
Guests have access to bikes, private patio, washer/dryer, off street parking, mini in-room fridge and in-room microwave. Quiet, clean pets welcome!
Interaction with guests
The room has a private entrance so you can have as much privacy as you want, but we can be gotten in touch with via texting and phone and we love to meet our guests! We are native Houstonians and are happy to help you navigate the city in any way we can!
The Heights is a great centrally located neighborhood filled with great shops and even better restaurants! Voted one of 10 best neighborhoods in the country by Forbes this year!
The Red Line train is just a few blocks away. It runs through downtown to the Museum District and the Medical Center; there are also several buses that run down Main Street, two blocks away. Guests have used them in the past. We also have bikes to share!
Other things to note
We have bikes to lend and they can be taken on the train and the busses! The Heights is full of great restaurants and specialty shopping.
Enjoy Houston! Let us know when you need to use the washer/dryer. Please, only quiet, well-mannered dogs if you bring your best buddy! Music is good but loud music only with headphones. Clean up is after noon so respect check-out time. No smoking or vaping inside. We know a lot about the city so feel free to ask us any questions you might have. Relax and enjoy your stay!
I teach college in Houston, Texas, and am also a local Realtor on the side. I love shopping, sports, the theater (Houston really does have great theater!), museums, gardening and eating out at all the amazing restaurants that Houston has to offer. I've lived in Houston for three decades and know lots about the secret surprises our city has to offer -- including where to get a great, inexpensive massage; where to get safe acupuncture; where the free, fun shows are; and how to get to the races, soccer games, football stadium, and baseball stadium. With the help of Air BnB, I've been to Savannah, Chicago, Boston, and New Orleans and have loved my experiences! And so far, I've met amazing people at my own Air BnB.
