We'd be happy to share local information with you and help in any other way we can to make your stay fantastic. Willing to pick up at Rhinecliff Amtrak Station and provide local taxi service numbers. We are close to Bard College (5 minutes), the Omega Institute (10 minutes), the Dutchess County Fairgrounds (only 3 blocks from our house!), and the Taconic State Parkway.
The house is located in the village of Rhinebeck and is perfect for walking into town for restaurants, shopping, movies, etc. We are also 5 minutes to the Hudson River and Amtrack station. Conveniently located to Red Hook,Hyde Park, Clinton, Stanfordville, Salt Point, skiing and much more! Rhinebeck is the home of the oldest inn in America, as well as of many shopping and dining attractions, many of which were visited by the guests of Chelsea Clinton's wedding. Rhinebeck has some of the finest dining in Hudson Valley and our Sunday Farmer's Market is considered in the top 10 best in the country!
Enjoy the area year-round, with fall foliage, fairs and festivals, the CIA ('Culinary Institute of America'), skiing at Belleayre, Catamount, Windham or Hunter Mountains, Bard College and its summer music festival, the Omega Institute, Aerodrome air shows, wineries, spas, golf, boating, the FDR Library and Museum, Vanderbilt estate, Eleanor Roosevelt's Val-Kill cottage, and other historic sites.
Downstairs bedroom, sitting room, bath, laundry. Garage if smoker or during winter for access to the space. Front door if weather permits access. (Local law does not permit parking in front Nov 1 to March 1., apparently). Guests have access to a fridge & coffee pot as well as control of heat in their space.
Interaction with Guests
We like to be here when you check in and out (just to say "hi" & "bye"). If you like to hang out after a long day sight seeing or whatever, come have a glass of wine ! We've had some really fun, interesting guests and love meeting new people.
You can pretty much walk or bike to town (restaurants, shops, CVS, beauty parlors, spas), library, churches, post office. 3 blocks to Dutchess County Fairgrounds for fair or festivals, 3 minutes to grocery store. Fair warning for week day guests- my house is the bus stop. 10 kids at 8:30 a.m. on week days except for summer.
Feet or bikes are best, everything is pretty close. If you don't have a car I have cards (and est. rates) for the local cab service. I have been known to give guests rides (train station or Omega Institute), if it fits into my schedule, too. =)
Other Things to Note
My town does not allow "lawn" parking during winter. You're better off letting me know your e.t.a. so I can open the garage door for you to go in & out right to your car. (As opposed to walking around front through the snow.) Between March 1st and November 1st park in front parallel to the street, 1/2 on the lawn.
Smoking in the garage (heated) or outside the house. If you utilize the washer/dryer please remain at the house to complete the laundry cycle. Please leave towels on the floor at the end of your stay so we know what needs to be washed.
This is a great space! Within walking distance to downtown Rhinebeck and the room is lovely. Spacious, cozy, and very private. Would definitely stay here again.
Great place - charming, quiet neighborhood in Rhinebeck. Very clean, easy to come and go.
Host was very welcoming and was happy to email or text us regarding any questions.
I'm a friendly mother of two. Love to have guests! I love raising my kids here in the beautiful Hudson Valley and can't wait to share the experience. I hold occasional yard sales so if I'm having one while you stay, feel free to shop ! We love sailing and fishing and Rhinebeck Farmer's Market - voted one of the nation's 10 best !!
