Interaction with Guests

When you have booked the apartment, either I or my friend Christophe will contact you to organise the appointment to give you the keys. In general the cleaning woman would be in the apartment at your arrival and give you the keys.

Please give us as soon as you have your flight or train ticket and latest 3 days before your arrival a precise appointment concerning your time of arrival in the apartment.

As soon as you will have booked the apartment, you will receive automatically from airbnb an email of confirmation including the rules of the apartment and the itinerary to come to the flat and all the necessary information to organise your arrival in time and safely.

Please notice that the cleaning lady will wait for you 30 minutes, after what if you are late, you will have to pay her 10 euros by hour of delay. Thanks for your understanding. That´s why it´s important to plan well your arrival.

The Neighborhood

The area is very pleasant, green, not far from the famous cemetery Père Lachaise and the beautifull Parc des Buttes Chaumont, and the lively Oberkampf district. Close to the apartment, you will find all the shops (supermarkets Monoprix and Dia, excellent bakeries, drugstores, etc..) And several good restaurants very warm at 2 steps from the building.
A 7 minute of walk, you can enjoy the large swimming pool Georges Vallerey (which becomes open air in summer).

OUTSIDE : You'll find at Place Gambetta the cinema MK2, the famous theater Théâtre de la Colline, and the entrance to the cemetery Pere Lachaise. At 5 minutes from the apartment is the Tenon Hospital.

The metro is 3 minutes walk (Pelleport) or 8 minutes (Gambetta), and you reach the metro station Republique in 6 minutes, Opera in 12 minutes, Saint-Lazare and Gare de l'Est train stations in 15 minutes.

Getting around

From Pelleport subway/metro to the apartment located at 28 rue de la Dhuis:
* At Gambetta station, take the Ligne 3bis (direction Porte des Lilas)
* Stop after 1 station at Pelleport
* Walk 10 meters in rue Pelleport and then left to rue du Surmelin
* Follow it until you see on the right "rue de la Dhuis" (be careful the rue du Surmelin is not linear, it makes a turn on the left when you're down to it).

If you don´t have heavy luggage, you can stop 1 station before to avoid another changing and then you are at Gambetta metro/subway station.

From Gambetta metro station to the apartment located at 28 rue de la Dhuis :
* Walk up the Gambetta avenue (which you find on the left side of the City Hall located on the place Gambetta)
* Up to the hill, turn right in the rue Pelleport and then left to rue du Surmelin
* Follow it until you see on the right "rue de la Dhuis" (be careful the rue du Surmelin is not linear, it makes a turn on the left when you're down to it).

Other Things to Note

Warning : This apartment is not recommended for physically strong people. It's a studio where everything is ordered like in a Puppet house. So for someone who needs a lot of space to move or has a heavy weight, I´m sorry to admit that it's not the right place.

  • Me and my gf went to Paris for the first time, and we were looking for some comfortable place where we can enjoy the city and to relax at the same time. And then we found Charlotte's studio. It's an amazing place, If u expect some castle place, then this is not then comment you shall read, rather this place is nice because it got all what I expected and unexpected in a positive way. It's close to CDG airport, only 50 euro in taxi!!! And it's very easy to transport yourselves around the city. Gambetta is really closer by, from there you can go anywhere with the metro. It's really calm, so calm that I believed only us who stayed in the entire building. It has good surrounding area, where u can find all good foods for fairly cheap price. Me and my gf went to the recommended restaurant by Charlotte 4 days in row, and had so delicious foods so we were tired with salmons and claries until the end. And it has plenty of fresh fruit stores, my gf loves cerise and we had it almost everyday. The flat even has laundry machine and the water is really really hot and nice. The host is really nice, thanks Charlotte, next time in Paris, I will be in you studio again for sure.

  • I spent a few days in Charlotte's apartment. A great apartment if you want somewhere quiet and pleasant to stay whilst you are in Paris. Area is nice, and really close to the metro.

  • Great stay that's only a quick metro ride to all the sights. Really enjoyed being in a quiet neighborhood with all the locals. Felt safe even as a solo woman traverler. Would stay here again!

  • This apartment is quiet, light, well-located and well-equipped.
We were unable to get hot water during our 5-day stay and we found our host difficult to deal with over this issue. A refund of one night's stay was eventually agreed.

    Response from Kino Girl:

On the day Donald and Susie arrived in the apartment, the pump which brings the hot water in the building got defected. It's called unluck. The people of the building got officially informed the day after Donald and Susie arrived as the plumber came on the next morning. So I could not be aware of the problem before Donald and Susie arrived. It's not that they could not get hot water, as the water heater of the building is perfectly working - it's only the pump that got defected. So, Donald and Susie could get hot water at the time that the other people use the hot water in the building, means between 7am and 8am, as then there are several people using the hot water and therefore this water is in the circuit of the building. The guests after Donald and Susie told me that they had pleasant normal hot showers at this time of the day. I understand it's not an ideal situation to have to shower at a certain time and not in the middle of the day nor in the middle of the night. But it's still allright to take a shower in the morning when everybody else take a shower. Beside I suggested them that, I also offered Donald and Susie directly to pay their journey back, that they can be able to go somewhere else if this situation was too difficult for them. They refused. I offered them the morning after their arrival to refund them some money anyway, wich I did without negotiating the amount they asked. But despite I did that, they never stopped to make me guilty, saying that it's not enough, that I should find a solution that they can shower every time they want. I explained to them that the building doesn't belong to me and that I can't do more than to call the caretaker to get informations. I'm just a private person who rents one apartment in this building. In any case, the plumber came the next morning the problem occured and this one ordered a new pump. But of course, the time the pump arrives, the problem could not be fixed during their stay, and I explained it. But Donald and Susie never understood it. It was a despair situation where the dialog was impossible despite an airbnb advisor tried to help to find all possible solutions to please them, even to find them another apartment through the airbnb community. Despite they had this possibility, Donald and Susie decided to stay in the apartment but complained and made me guilty till the end, despite it was not my fault and despite the problem was relative as there is hot water but they had to use it in the morning when other people use (website hidden) is full of buildings with problems. Normally I am lucky as it's a quite modern buidling but still it's Paris where those things happen all the time and I'm not in the position to change all the system in Paris. Donald and Susie could have gone to an hostel in order to reduce the risk to be confronted to this kind of problems. They would have payed minimum 2 times the price they payed by me just to get a simple bedroom in a cheap hostel in a bad area when by me they could rent a nice appartment, fully equiped, quiet and decorated in a nice area of Paris. And even in a hostel, they could have been confronted to this problem because those problems occure everywhere. Donald and Susie sent me emails full of lies and insults during and after their stay, and when they write now that they found me difficult to deal with this issue, I just can say it's unfair as I really tried my best to find solutions -. I'm scared now, that after my words of explanation, they will now invent some lies But I also know I'm honest and that every guest who would be interested by the apartment who would have now doubts about me or the apartment my other guests to get a feedback. And I'm confidend that they will (email hidden).

  • We arrived early and were allowed to set up. The neighborhood was wonderful . The apartment was very clean. I would recommend this apartment for either a younger couple or a single person. The room was small and the seating space was very low to the ground.

  • We loved to be there. The apartman was clean and good enough for 2 person. The neighborhood was quiet. The metro is a few minutes walk. Anyway Charlotte gave all necessary information.

  • I had a great time staying at Kino's apartment. The place was well furnished, had a subtle touch of character, and being on the top floor you get a great view of the large cat wandering about in the communal garden.
The guidebook was also really handy as it gave me a good knowledge of shops, bars, restaurants, and even cinemas, in the area.
On the map it looked quite far out of the centre of Paris but everything is so close it takes hardly any time on the metro to get into the centre. I spent a lot of time in Le Marais so you can get the tube direct to Republique which is a bonus.
Big thanks to Charlotte, I really enjoyed my stay and it was a great first experience of airbnb!
