In addition to two full bathrooms, there is an outdoor shower. The large kitchen opens to a comfortable family room with a breakfast table and the livingroom has a large wood fireplace perfect for chilly nights.

One of the most special places we've stayed... It is clear that the house is loved and full of wonderful memories. It was exactly what we hoped for and we had the most wonderful time... Sam was extremely communicative and the caretakers were equally as helpful.

Our second stay at the Harbor House was just was wonderful as the first. The house is rustic, cozy, and well-loved, and had more than enough space for our group of four. We appreciate that it's pet-friendly, too. The house is located on a quiet, private road, but it's close enough to local beaches and attractions. It is also easy to get to Bath, Brunswick, or Freeport for groceries, shopping, or sightseeing. There are plenty of kitchen items, linens, and towels available for guests to use. Perfect for unwinding, the house has a dock where we spent many afternoons swimming, kayaking, and enjoying the sunshine. The screened in porch is great. It has a picnic table where we enjoyed several meals and evenings—without mosquitoes! The caretakers are very welcoming and kind, and are available if you have questions or need anything. This is truly a special house and we hope to return!

We realized immediately on arriving that a weekend would feel like far too little time to spend in this amazing house! I think another review has said it, but the pictures don't quite do the house justice. Most vacation-y houses have maybe one amazing feature - a great, spacious deck, or a beautiful screen porch with a view, or a cozy room with a wonderful fireplace, etc. etc. It felt like the Harbor House has half a dozen of these amazing features! The caretaker, Bumper, was very kind and helpful. There are plenty of rooms and beds for a big group - we were there for a wedding, which was a short drive down the road, so the location and size of the house was perfect. We used the kayaks one afternoon - the harbor is so peaceful and beautiful! We grilled dinner one night out on the deck which was wonderful, though the mosquitos in summer are _brutal_ (I think it's a Maine thing, not specific to this house). It wasn't a problem inside or in the screen porch though - seems like all the screens and doors offer really good protection from the mosquitos! Overall it was a great weekend in a beautiful and amenity-rich house, and I would absolutely go back just to spend time in that house!

Fantastic location. Comfortable and quiet, spacious but cozy. In a private setting but still convenient to the main road for shopping / Hermit Island beach, Morse mountain, and Popham beach.

Had a heavenly week at this wonderful rental! Loved, loved, loved it! Our party of six was very comfortable and we would consider returning with more people. As others described, the house is very spacious and there's plenty of room to congregate and also for privacy. The house is much more spacious than the photos imply and the different spaces are a great combination. Our group likes to work on art on vacation and there was plenty of table space for different projects to go on simultaneously. One bedroom has two beds, two dressers and two closets and is on one side of the house with a tight bathroom; the other side has four bedrooms and a larger bath: a two bed with closet and dresser; king bed with closet and dresser; king bed with closet and two dressers that opens onto the hallway and screen porch, and a one bed with closet and dresser. Both baths have heaters for chilly mornings. As we visited early in the season, we brought layered clothing and space heaters and made good use of the fireplace in the den. As artists/antique lovers, we greatly appreciated the numerous objects d'art, paintings and photos which were the topic of many conversations. There's games and a lot of books including children's books to peruse. The kitchen is a little tight but we alternated dinners and could have made better use of the butler pantry which is equipped with a sink. We used every space in the house from the deck appointed with a charcoal grill to the butler pantry, screen porch, fireplace and firewood cache, laundry room and day bed in the den for cozy naps.We also made good use of the outside spaces - the dock, yard and outdoor shower. We enjoyed sketching, sunning and watching boats from the dock. The living room fireplace did not work which was too bad but not a problem. We used bottled water after reading the posted signs about the possible mineral taste of the water. When I tried it I thought it was fine and proceeded to drink from the tap. We received a warm welcome and a couple of check ins from Bumper. There is also a drawer in the kitchen with maps and info about the local area. Our adventures took us to various spots around mid-coast but our favorite times were enjoying the house and each other. WiFi seemed pretty good and there is a landline for those back home. I would suggest opting to disconnect to more fully enjoy the house and location. The steepness of the entry would make it challenging to someone with mobility issues and the dock also would not be accessible to someone with mobility issues as it is down a steep hill. We loved taking early morning walks and beachcombing at beautiful Popham beach and Sprague Road was nice for walking and running. Sunsets are lovely from the dock, deck and porch. Be aware to guard against mosquitoes and...

We had a small family reunion and needed a large place to host nine people, and at the same time a comfortable place. Sam's house was much better than our expectations, beautiful location just a few steps from the water, surrounded by the forest where we did several runs, and just a quick drive to Bath for our groceries. The place was recluse enough so my family could have quality time, but close enough to the villages so we could meet acquaintances for a quick coffee. The house also had everything we needed for bedding and showering, plenty of towels.

The house was exactly as described. The setting is gorgeous--perched above the harbor that shelters pleasure and lobster boats. The house is appropriate for a family reunion with 5 bedrooms, 2 full baths, and lots of spaces for people to congregate. There is a lovely screened porch, a large living room, a great kitchen, and a sitting room, all decorated with art, memorabilia and furniture suitable to coastal Maine--not fancy but practical and warm. The house has been in the family for generations. Two or three families could easily share it and still have privacy. And a big selling point for us was that we could bring our beloved dog. There is no TV, encouraging communication with each other and with the natural beauty that surrounds it. Linens are provided. And there is internet! Our nephew arrived by boat and tied up comfortably to the floating dock. The only thing I would suggest if you go early or late in the season is perhaps to take along a low watt space heater since it does get chilly at night. The great room fire place and plenty of wood take care of that pretty well though. All in all, a fabulous stay, and we hope to go back.
